I usually get antsy after watching a video for 10 or 15 minutes, but I binge-watched all 20 videos of the chop in one sitting. Best of the best craftsmanship, Mr. Walden. Your great reputation is well deserved. Thanks for sharing
Julian "Pop" Rice was a craftsman before Bob Walden and restored antique cars for several people (i.e. Jack Daniels, etc.) He pinstriped (in lacquer) cars on the Model A line at a young age. He taught at McPherson College Auto Restoration for two years. He said the challenge was - no one would ever share secrets in the shop and that is why he came to McPherson College. Mr. Walden is the first person that I have been exposed to that was completely open in the business to help anyone learn. Bob would be a great instructor - the challenge is the people like Bob have successful businesses and its hard to have them step a way for a year to teach the younger generation. Bob is like "Pop".

Just found this channel and watched 20 episodes back to back. My take away was how poorly every other chop must be if this took this long to do. Also the fact that you explained the WHY you do something is always the missing piece. This was great
I clicked on this thinking it was another dude chopping a '32 Ford to make a rat rod. Instead, I got GOD-TIER sheet metal fabrication work and finishing!! I imagine this project is pretty expensive, but that's what it takes to have a master craftsman do the work right. Whew, man, that car is cherry now. Bravo!!

I was just complaining to my wife about all the hype there is on CZcams over mediocre car builders and then I found this series, how refreshing, thank you to everyone involved. This reminds me of a time when I was in my early 20s and I thought I was a pretty good body man. I went to a shop and watch a guy put a two square inch patch in the corner of a door, when he was done you couldn’t tell he was ever there, I got schooled that day.

I just binge-watched all 19 episodes just marveling at Mr. Walden's wonderful competence at this kind of work. The method, the explanations the handiwork are all first class; I am not a hot-rodder myself, more a motorcycle man but this kind of dedication is to be admired by any machine head. The camera work and edition are also excellent and never interfere with the process but illustrate it very well. Congratulations to the production team; one caveat though, I thought I would go mad with this steel guitar riff coming on again and again and again. I just watched the whole series with my finger on the mute button trying to guess when explanations would come along. Still I enjoyed the series a lot; thank you.

An education by a superb teacher. Enthralling to see the skill, to learn about the tools and methods. I will never look at a chopped early Ford again in the same way - indeed, I won't be able to keep my hands off it stroking every contour remembering what was involved. I wonder how many hours of labor(and the cost) went into this body? Dearborn Deuce bodies don't seem so expensive now.

So maybe I missed it, what size chop did this end up being, a 3" or a 3 1/2" chop? Either way, it looks absolutely amazing! Outstanding videos, super outstanding craftmanship from Waldens.

i would love to see a car built like that, but not as a hotrod. Do the chop, loose the door hinge, fix the roof insert, etc, but then build it out like a regular car as if it had been built in 1932.

Your work is incredible and I thoroughly enjoyed the video but I gotta tell ya , that repetitive guitar riff made me turn the sound off. Irritating as hell.
