  • A walking tour in 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗲 just before dusk time, in an Autumn chilly evening.
The walk starts and tours around inside the famed neighbour 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞 in downtown Rome,
perhaps the most typical and cosy of roman "quartieri".
The virtual walk starts at the exit of Piazza in Piscinula, then head into "Largo S.Giovanni De Matha" , passing the famous Basilica of St.Maria in Trastevere, and then in the maze of narrow streets until reaching the square in front of the Church of Santa Maria della Scala.

I love that I can see the graffiti on the streets that is still there even last week.
Been here twice now and each time I have no idea where I'm going in Trastevere. You just get lost, end up going in loops and still find new bars and places to hang out

Putting aside the Covid 19 virus for a minute, the graffiti, and the litter everywhere is even more depressing. Because this is how the Italians feel about their magnificent city. They don't care. Graffitti should be made a serious offence. What's wrong with these people? I always longed to back there. Not now. It's too sad for words. Rome now looks like third world tip.

    • @StillWanderer
      @StillWanderer  Před 3 lety

Jochen I think the same unfortunately: during the last few years Rome has literally going "back" in that area. Many people complain, the administration isn't up to the task. There's a huge rift between small towns which are very clean and the big cities, but not everywhere. I hope it'll get better as more people will complain. It's not as it used to be unfortunately in some areas.

@@StillWanderer organise a leaflet then distribute it to all the businesses in the area asking if they want to increase their profits - all its going to cost them is money to buy a few tins of paint and pay for a part time, two man team to blitz the area by covering up the graffiti and dealing with the litter - the rustic charm of the place won’t be affected by a corporate regeneration scheme and people will go there to eat out without feeling they walked into a ghetto that’s going down hill. From our experience in the UK first you get graffiti then you get drug dealers and then degeneration then no one wants to visit.... also get the business owners to put pressure on the city council...

@@s0ulbr0777 The Roman Government needs to bring back "The Games"! - round-up the "Taggers", Vandals and Litterers, and pit them against highly-trained Gladiators!...or just feed the Riff-raff to the LIONS! - but unfortunately, the UN, and Amnesty International would have a Hissy-Fit! Perhaps a more Humane solution would be to institute a program to hire professional Muralist to paint over the scrawlings of Talentless Cretins, with something of Merit, and Beauty!
