My great great grand mother died at the age 119 in Igboland in late 80s. I was barely 9 yrs at the time. She lived through half of 19 century or 1800s. She told us that some of her uncles were kidnapped at night and were never seen again. At the time, they didn't know they were taken to North America. She said around late 1800s, a missionary from Louisiana brought a message to them from one of the kidnapped uncles, telling them that most of them were taken to Louisiana and some to Virginia. He's now a free man, married with kids and living in New Orleans. He had worked on a plantation in Laurel Valley. At the time he was already in his 80s, they sent a message back through the missionary to him but never heard back again. For them, she said, it was a closure knowing they were in America.
