    This kinda reminds me of that one guy that built an ENTIRE computer monitor tower casing from working CPU fans! Useful diy btw just needs an adjustable height to increase or decrease airflow!

    Tried it before and can increase the laptop mobo temp if use step up converter due to the voltage booster and can cause burn up to usb port. Usb port usually produce 5v 0.5a (2.5W), while using pc fan 12v 0.3a (3.6W) or if run max 0.5a (6W). I changed to 12v power adapter and voila no more burnout. Cons just need a additional plug to plug the 12v adapter thus it's not portable.

    Does using the step up booster not risk burning the USB in the laptop due to low amperage? Thank you and congratulations for the work

  • @RMalsawmtluanga
    @RMalsawmtluanga Před 4 lety +6

    Good idea. It still can be refined though, like using a proper 12volts adapter for it. Or using two usb ports in parallel so that the current draw will be divided in half (so as to reduce the load on just one usb port). RGB is cool but will only increase power consumption and decrease efficiency.

    can u just turn the fans around that would be better since the CPU fans on laptops intake air from the bottom.so u should flip it around to help the airflow

    It may be ingenious but, in my opinion, it's not practical in the long run. I mean, one wrong move and your laptop falls down. Its stability is fragile. If you accidentally hit the laptop from one side it will slide and fall from the cooler pad. So the pad should have some type of "stoppers" in order to make sure that the laptop will not fall. Besides of that, I don't see how can you adjust the angle and the position of the laptop/pad. And finally, those "legs" the pad has are not reliable. I wouldn't put my expensive laptop on 4 simple screws that cand easily slide on any surface. And I wouldn't put that cooler on my furniture. In short, this laptop needs a lot of adjustments in order to make it really practical. Up until now is just a cool experiment to make with kids in order to familiarize them with technology and practical things. So the main idea is good.

    • @NytronX
      @NytronX Před 5 lety

      You can easily make a wooden surface and cut out circular holes for the fans. Then put rubber feet on the bottom of the screws. Problem solved.

    Looks impressive and I'm using that same boost module which can transform even a 5V to 50V but it heats up if you use that many fans plus this is very expensive build total cost is 2200 above right considering per cpu fan is 400rs around but nice work though

I tried using the step up dc mt3608 with 2 AA battery and it works, unfortunately even though it could reach 12V it still slow maybe because lack of amperage from AA battery. So i tried using USB cable but its output stuck at 0,1-0,5V to the Vin in the module. Any suggestion?

    • @Sandesh98147
      @Sandesh98147 Před 4 lety

      Yes, many OS includong windows will automatically try to disable it after a while if it detects that this much power is being drawn. It can also affect your psu to do this (if you have a potato psu) and ur mouse and keyboard might malfunction because of less power being supplied to them. What I suggest is using charger pod for phones to connect usb to and draw power from there. Its a bit of an hassle but safer imo.

    Hello, is it safe to directly connect the diy cooler into the laptop usb port?

      if you are not using the boost converter and using only 5v then it is completely safe but boost converter takes more current..... for avoiding issues is cell phone charger to power it..

      Creative creator but I don't have the equipment to determine the voltage, is it matic that it has a 5v? Assuming that I have connected a two cpu fan.
