  • This video belongs to American Petroleum Institute. Chemical engineering/Petroleum Engineering students can get a lot of useful information from this. It's good for other engineering students as well.

I love how it gets the point across but does so simply, would help engineers and even new process operators a lot, I’m an FCCU/Gas Con operator myself, wish I had this when I started

What!!!!!!!!!!! They let you operate on an FCC with little or no training or competency in the Unit? Unbelievable!!!!!! in the rest of the World. No wonder the US accident rate in the Oil and GAs industry is 10 times worse than the rest of the world.

@@grahamnancledra7036 we got 3 months of process related training before going into the plant, the 6 months of on unit training following another operator making rounds and operating equipment. Then you’d be signed off on one of the two sides. All refineries are different, I should’ve worded my statement better, I wish I had this video to truly understand the process fully in depth, as I’m currently an outside operator I don’t have to be board trained yet. I’ve understood how it all works since I started it’s just I really like the animations and visuals in this video lol

@@caelanreeves9760 To be honest - your 'lol' at the end of your reply scares me. I have 50 years work experience in the Oil and Gas industry and no I'm a trainer/ assessor of operation and control on Liquid Natural Gas Plants teaching/training/assessing young people in a developing and I'm afraid a very poor nation. The work I do with these young people is not only for their safety at work and the understanding of the equipment and processes, control and safety of the plant that is worth billions of dollars. It's no laughing matter trying to get youngsters with no experience of the industry to realise the value of their training and understanding of procedure. I suggest that you look at the CSB video's on CZcams. czcams.com/users/USCSB You might just learn a lot about just how dangerous the Chemical industry in the USA actually is. As I said in my first reply - you are ten times more likely to be injured and killed working on chemical/oil and gas plant in the USA than in Western Europe. It's no Joke. Now 'lol'.

@@grahamnancledra7036 you’re a real ball buster aren’t you? I don’t care how long you’ve worked in the industry. I do my job safely and if there’s anything I don’t like I step back and discuss it with my fellow operators and management. You act as if I do not know what I’m doing in my unit and how it operates? We probably have more incidents and fatalities because we have 10x as many refineries… I simply stated it’s a nice visual video. We have guys like you at work too, it’s sad how little they know how much of an ass they make of themselves.

Even though the catalyst doesn't react, the excess temp in burning coke might degrade it in size or reaction .
How do you extract it out of cycle in return of make up mix.

This was an old Unit 40 years ago. I operated a Chiyoda Orthoflow "F" in 1980 and there were many parts show in this video no longer used? My last cracker was an Atmospheric Residue Cat Cracker, taking Atmospheric Reside directly from the Crude Column. That was back in 1994.
