    Just put one on my 30-06 for deer hunting I love it, at the Magic Hour you can see a lot longer then most scopes for the money.

    Good quick review Tony. A couple of things. I have the 4.5-27x50 in FFP with the BDC reticle. I went through the magnification range, I went from dark to light and I did not notice any "purple" as you did. Also, my scope came with 4 screws to put in the holes for the throw lever when not in use, a pro in my opinion. Like you, I'm worried about the plastic throw lever and how it will hold up in the cold weather. Usually when plastic gets cold, is when it's brittle and subject to breaking. I'm not too worried about the lack of flip up covers in a scope of this price point. Usually you see those on scopes costing twice as this one. What I would like to have seen included is a sun shade. I tried the one from my Vortex, but it did not fit. They even included three little screws for I'm assuming the zero stop collar. One thing you did not mention, is it seems like there is an unusual amount of eye relief at lower powers and to my eyes, it didn't appear to get worse at the higher power. Thank for the review!!

    • @tonygillahan
      @tonygillahan  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks mate! It's not super noticeable but compared to higher end scopes the chromatic aberration is more present, just something I thought worth mentioning. But that's awesome that you can't notice it in your version of the scope 👌
      I think I mentioned the 4 screws in another video, but you're right definitely a good thing!
      100% mate overall I think they're a great scope for the money and I've been happily recommending them to people 🍻

    Yeh they aren’t too bad I have one of the old meopta artemis 3000 3-9x42 which came on my weatherby vanguard 270 when I brought it a few years back and I’m pretty happy with it for someone like me who doesn’t have a lot of money it’s a great alternative and gets the job done but when I can afford to down the track I may invest in a better quality one.

    like the scope and good review. Just not exactly sure where their produced as one individual shared that Meopta was "Asian" made and made me wonder of the rep was referring to Chinese produced/assembled. I was hoping it was all done in Czech Republic. Either way nice scope and really informative review.

    I have the Meopro Optika6 5-30X56 FFP BDC Dichro and I see no purple edges at all, not in the slightest, not even when looking directly at a lightbulb. Maybe you just got a Monday edition? They do make lenses for Zeiss and not just anyone gets to do that.. One con I think you should have mentioned - certainly over not liking the lense caps - is no revolution counter on the top turret. That can be really annoying to some.

    • @tonygillahan
      @tonygillahan  Před rokem

      That's fair mate, I've noticed it on another 4.5-27 and a 3-18, it's not bad but thought it was worth mentioning. The glass quality is still excellent though!
      The no revolution counter is a great point, definitely something I overlooked when checking it out for the first time and it will make a mention if i end up doing another follow up review.

    Wow I wonder if ya got a poor one? I have 3 Optika6 scopes, 2 of the 2.5-15x42 and the 4.5-27x50 all in V-Plex and all I can say is crispy in the day time and with the green or red flashlight 🔦 hunting pigs at night seeing the reticles against a black hog in-illuminated was no problem

    • @tonygillahan
      @tonygillahan  Před 2 lety +1

    I don't know what to get.
    3-18x50 (or 56) or this one.
    Going on a t3x lite in 7mm-08 for deer and long range (tassie has a great range out to 1.2k )
    I am just hung up on the 3 or 4.5 for minimum magnification.

    • @tonygillahan
      @tonygillahan  Před 2 lety +2

      Go the 3-18 mate 👌 I only got the 4.5-27 for varminting, but I rarely shoot over 20 power anyway. The capped windage on the 3-18 is also a big positive 🍻

      @@thetassieboys that VX3HD could be a good option as well, I'm not sure on their reticle configurations though so you'd have to look into that to make sure you're getting exactly what you want in terms of first or 2nd focal plane and reticle design. @@tonygillahan definitely, they have a few but their new firedot illuminated one is meant to be the bee's knee's.

    • @tonygillahan
      @tonygillahan  Před rokem

      I haven't directly compared sorry, but I would confidently assume anything below the VX3 and VX5 HD lines that the Meopta would clean them up. Leupold also have very few FFP offerings in that end of the market and very limited reticle choices as well.
