      Sergio TL Knee diving is never acceptable. This guy has had operations on his knees, probably due to overuse from things like this. He's a great weightlifter but that doesn't mean he's immune to criticism.

    • @sergiotl7378
      @sergiotl7378 Před 9 lety +33

      +hittman1412 There are many elite weightlifters that dive their knees on the catch part of the lift. I don't think that's necessarily bad if their joints are prepared for that and, as you know, olympic weightifters have great flexibility. His knee injuries may be caused by many other factors. Starting with the fact that he's lifting huge amounts of weight. When you expose your body to such a stress, eventually you're gonna have some injuries. I dont't know of any strength athlete that has not had more than an injury.

    When I was squatting parallel PL style, my knees were fucked, torn cartilage, constant pain etc. No after addressing mobility issues i've been squatting ATG for a few years now with very minimal knee pain. As far as wear and tear goes, i think progressive overloading strengthens every aspect of the joint structure, making bone, tendon, ligament and obviously muscle more robust.

    Nice depth and explosion from the bottom, man.
    @Mario: Whenever you're doing a rep at max exertion, your form suffers (unless you're elite and near robotic).
    In squats, you engage almost every muscle in your body. But when the knees go in like that, it suggests that he needs a bit more hip strength and to work on the auxiliary muscles in the legs.
    Knowing where/how you breakdown is how coaches are able to help correct your form and augment your training.

    If your back rounds I dont think you are ready to use a belt. The belt is not there to stop your back rounding, its there to give you something to push your abs against which puts more tension in your torso making things more rigid and efficient.

    Ideally you want a power rack so the safety pins can catch the bar if you fail. In a way that makes you more brave & willing to go for it, but I can imagine knowing the bar will crush you if you don't finish the rep would also help. Really impressive squat though.

    the inward knee movement is the body's subconscious effort to recruit more muscle muscle fibres from the quad and glutes as it recognises the body is struggling to lift the weight, it is not desirable as it suggest your body cant handle the weight well. this is why you see it when guys lift weights this extreme.

    Of course it's not, but you'll see it very often from Oly weightlifters. I suppose their kind of training strengthen tendons and ligaments to the point where some form breakdown on maximal loads is acceptable. Not to mention, pro athletes like Clarence are probably willing to put their bodies on the line to compete at the highest level.

    squatting deep builds and maintains hip and ankle flexibility/mobility. although tricking builds flexibility/mobility as well.

  • @thomaslacy1712
    @thomaslacy1712 Před 11 lety

    when your approaching your max your knees will buckle inward regardless. Look at olympic lifters. They all buckle inwards when going for super heavy weights. Everyones form no matter if they want to believe it or not, breaks down when maxing out on a weight.

  • @andrewkarlovich
    @andrewkarlovich Před 11 lety

    no its not, knees should always go out but the body always moves you in a way that makes you stronger, which is not necessarily safer. that's the case here. your body could lift more when the knees go in but its a huge amount of shear force on the knee joint.
