  • What Elon Musk said about Nikola Tesla in an interview, may shock you. Elon Musk is quickly becoming one of the most famous people on earth. Tesla the car company, SpaceX, SolarCity, The Boring Company are all companies of Elon Musk's, which are leading the way in technology and humanity's future. However, his thoughts on Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison took me back for a minute.

I regret stating that Elon Musk is not a rocket scientist! He certainly is, and in fact he is the lead engineer at SpaceX. He is also a business “magNET” ;)
A couple more corrections to this video: The museum that Elon Musk donated to is in New York, not Belgrade.
Also, the electric chair actually utilizes A/C, not D/C!
    Thanks again for watching

Bright Insight Nikola Tesla Actually Gave Us A Lot More Than People Here Realize. He Gave Us A Way Of Thinking That Leads To Higher Levels Of Consciousness. I Know He Helped Me Do This By Thinking In Terms Of Energy, Frequency, & Vibration. There's So Much More I'd Like To Say But It Taps Into All Of Existence & Answers To Questions That Can Only Be Understood Best At Higher Levels Of Consciousness. I'm Going To Teach People How They To Can Evolve Their Consciousness So That They May Remember Who & What They Truly Are.

Nikola Tesla had a gift. He grew up in the area of my country where there was no technology or anything, but he got education and all the futuristic inventions that made him look crazy at the time. If he stayed in Croatia, he would be pronounced crazy for his ideas only. Having no sources to develop them. At least he came to the USA, to make his work possible, and was not credited for sure while he was still alive. But in all the dimensions of thinking. I have no clue how to describe Tesla but a genius with no explanation how. I hope with the time he gets the credits and respect he deserves for his work and vision.

As bright a guy as Elon obviously is, I really think he's got the cart before the horse in his valuing of Edison's accomplishments or "Genius" over Tesla's. If he's read as much on Edison as he says, then he's aware that Edison developed his patents by hiring bright guys like Tesla to work for him (and occasionally cheat them out of royalties) not by the genius of any creations of his own making. So what Elon seems to admire is Edison's genius at marketing and not Tesla's genius that produced the product to be marketed. Cart before the Horse. And speaking of horses, did you know that when Edison was competing with Tesla over whose electric current type, DC or AC respectfully, was better, Edison used to kill horses at county fairs to show people how dangerous his rival's AC current was. Did it to an elephant as well. The guy was evil, Elon, pick a better person to look up to.

Edison worked him to death and then refused to pay out his earnings to surviving wife, as women had little legal rights then, leaving her destitute with children. I can actually see how Elon Musk would see Edison to be more similar to himself, especially with all the historic "added sugar coating" to the Edison story. Interestingly will Elon Musk get also all the "credit" for inventing this and that, or will they actually mention that sure, he took big risks, but ultimately he hired the best specialists and people in the business, gave them purpose and a goal and motivation to develop, that in itself is surely fascinating, but I am not sure that any of the "bright minds" will be remembered in history as time moves on.
I would say, if there is no reason to teach about Tesla at school, why bother teaching about von Gogh or about Michelangelo or Vivaldi or hell, why do we even bother with Mozart. Those people have far less impact on our daily lives than Tesla. If anything I would just blame Edison's legacy on all of that, he really wanted to "erase" as much of Tesla's history as he could I bet, because of all the dirty laundry that comes up once you really look into their rivalry.

Michael Faraday discovered electromagnetic induction using coils in the 1830's. James Maxwell predicted electromagnetic waves in the 1870's. Heinrich Hertz "discovered" it in the 1880's (this is why we measure frequency in kilohertz and megahertz). Alexander Bell discussed wireless telephony at about the same time. Marconi developed long-range wireless communication in the 1890's (for a long time the devices were called "Marconis"). Tesla is a minor player by comparison in this particular chain that leads to WiFi, entering rather late in the development of high-frequency radio communication. Tesla's main contribution to history is the promotion of AC and AC induction motors. As a pure scientist he is "almost" great, but he was never really really first in any of his discoveries (X-rays were discovered by Roentgen). There is no "Tesla's Law" or "Tesla's equation" or "Tesla's theorem". He essentially used the discoveries of others to invent useful devices, like Edison did.

Musk is wrong. Tesla’s lack of monetary success was largely because of people like Edison taking advantage of him, or blatantly aiming to harm him.
Tesla proposed multiple technologies to the government, which Edison convinced the military was useless in combat. This includes forms of radar, which is widely used by militaries.
Tesla kindly pushed aside a contract he had with a business owner who was using one of his inventions for his product. This was because the guy was going to go bankrupt and he couldn’t afford to pay Tesla for use of the patent. This guy went on to make multiple of millions and didn’t pay back Tesla. He did, however, cover the cost of his rent later years in life. Essentially pennies compared to what was owed.
The government also was highly involved with Tesla, including spying on him at least the last few years of his life, and taking all his work and filtering it to the public.
If they knew Tesla was so valuable, why didn’t they contract more work with him? That, to me, is a very good question. They were worried about other countries kidnapping him or taking his inventions, but they didn’t think to utilize him until right after he died by taking all his work for free?

Westinghouse Generators and the Niagra Falls test proved the superiority of AC but also depleted Westinghouse's Funds. J.P. Morgan being in the Banking industry was aware of their limited capitol; threatened to sue Westinghouse for patent infringement while demanding the AC patent. (Back before the Anti-trust laws were in place) Westinghouse, knowing the legal defense of the accusation would have bankrupted him; chose to relinquish the AC patent to J.P. Morgan/General Electric and keep what little he had left. They got stiff armed and swindled out of the Patent.

Tesla is not taught most likely because he had no particular use for schools. His autobiography is very instructive as to his gifts and character. His own mental and intuitive capacity was beyond what reductive school curriculums teach and would be at odds with and tend to dismantle the creatively repressive methods of most current educational paradigms.

Musk didn’t name the car company Tesla. Like Edison, he purchased someone else’s ideas and the company at its beginnings and brought the initial concept to the world. So in that way, he’s actually more like Edison. He made his initial money off PayPal and invested wisely in ideas as well as taking chances with new ideas. He’s a pioneer in our time but don’t be mistaken by thinking he’s the next Tesla. He’s really a modern day Edison.

      C. Michael Martell Elon has said that he is a bigger fan of Edison than he is of Tesla, because of Edison’s ability to bring his inventions to market. Therefor, making his inventions more useful to the masses. Call it capitalism or adoption, I think they go hand in hand.

but minus the electrocution. He really is trying to get humanity on renewables and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.

@rollout the battle rapper Oh man what a whopper! So all the smartest people on our planet are wrong about renewable energy and you're right? How about RECYCLING the batteries! Do you really think it will be difficult to get someone to recycle a battery with $2000 core charge? I don't know what the core charge will be for sure but it will be a lot I'm sure.

thats exactly how i see it. it's an argument that it's not enough to see his opinion about tesla or edison. but in the main way he gives credit to edison, why? well, you wrote the answer.
he even said it: "he brought it to the market, tesla didn't". it's about money and everything else again, but not about beeing the next tesla. otherwise he would have been discredited already with elephants on space x rockets, yeah bit funny dough, but they would get him away form the daylight this fast, you wouldn't even recognize, if he wouldn't follow the money and the industry.

I agree with you 100%. Not enough credit given to Nikola Tesla. I watch your clips all the time. You are doing great job.
