    I highly recommend watching the documentary about this man and his life if you can find it. He was young and it was on film, french maybe. Well, let me tell you, The Witch Doctor literally marked him with goat blood to be the best drummer ever from birth, the chosen one who left his small village to make his mark on the world. the scene where he sees his father again for the first time after leaving is one of the most moving things I've ever seen. I am truly a fan of this man.

    The level of concentration and clarity of mind,body and presence (and heart) to be able to play traditional african drumming is misunderstood by many. This is a serious spiritual healing art form and I am grateful to have been in the medicine of this music for 20 years! All cultures have medicine. The world is our healing temple.

      Ya'll are getting to deep within this. Drumming is for both rituals, fun, and just something to do. It's not always as deep as you might think. I know this because I am a drummer. The captain of my team, and I know this rhythm and many more. It doesn't need hat much concentration, just timing. Yes, it is complex, but not that much. All you need is rhythm, the ability to keep timing, and to play with both hands, when it comes to dundun, songba, and kinkeni.

    • @le.fola6910
      @le.fola6910 Před 7 lety +11

    • @Ska3458
      @Ska3458 Před 7 lety +23

      It's not about how much skills you have. It's about going deep into your rythms and have a total awareness off your mind and body. And trust me it's not as simple as it seem to be, that take years and years of practice

    • @MrAmisto
      @MrAmisto Před 7 lety +5

      it is if you have the right teacher. you could learn really quick in africa, because they teach by using phonetics, ie singing the sounds, then you end up wiring your hand movements to the music you make in your head with drum language, kra ka ta ta , ka kra ka ta ta, kra ka ta ta ta ka. you don't think much about your hands at all when you have enough practice.

    A perfect combination of the conversation among the drummers. Really good without being unreachable. The rhythms can be understood with clarity. I love it. The bass drum rhythmic backdrop is often missing from most drumming that is playing the djembe drum but missing the bass drums and bells that provide that groove to support the djembe. Where are all you bass drums groovey folks.
