More than a million serbs used to live in what is now Greece around Thessaloniki , Macedonia and Larissa or Lerin, Thessaly , and Peloponessis …..They were forced to assimilate among them was Serboljub or Sorba who greeks could not pronounce his name and became Zorba the Greek . He participated in Balkan wars and latter joined Serbian Army who fought in Thessaloniki Front .He could not stand Greek repression and force-full assimilation of his people and had to leave or face prosecution .He died in Skopje in 1920’s

RIP theodorakis but this song is composed by George Zambetas. Mikis just stolen as many other Greek music masterpieces!!!! Thanks also to great Manos Chatzidakis (awarded with OSCAR ) , Mikis never awarded abroad. Only by Soviet Union after order by Greek Communist Party (KKE)!

I visited the island of Paros many years ago when I was a young student.
The Greek people treated me with fantastic respect and even though we did not speak the same language, I will always have a special place in my heart foe the people from Paros and Greece.

The wonderful Sirtaki a music a dance unimaginably beautiful , composed by the genius Mikis Theodorakis , by a movie based on a novel by one of the greatest novelist of the 20th century , starred by one of the greatest actors of all times , Anthony Quinn. Memorable time.
Yes it takes one back to the more innocent times of the late 60s early 70s. Great film and Mike’s outlived both of the stars here, Anthony Quinn and Alan Bates.
I live in Bristol, R.I. where Anthony Quinn and his last wife chose to live and raise their two children who both now must be nearing 30. The Quinns were frequently seen around town, and they were able to live a quiet private life in Bristol where Mrs. Quinn still resides and Anthony is buried on their property.
