Hi Adrien. I love how you explain the use of « have » and the related « got ». Also, your comparison of pronunciation between English and French really helps those of us learning to sound like a real Francophone ! I always learn more about both languages from you. However, being Anglophone natif, you truly improve my apprentissage de mon français. In addition, you are teaching me the differences between British and North American English. I love your course and look forward to following every lesson. Your example sentences are right on ! Perfect examples to make your points. Mille fois merci ! Thanks to you, I can teach (American) English much better than before.
Thank you very much Dr Michael Elinski. This is VERY nice of you!

Bonsoir Adrien, pourquoi " they don't have any time" ou "any" news, mais she doesn't have money ( et non "any money")?
jean-pierre bireau thank you for your question.
They don't have time = Ils n'ont pas le temps
They don't have any time = Ils n'ont vraiment pas le temps.
Hello Adrien. You are on fire right now! May I say " your lesson brings the house down or "you bring the house down with ( or about)this lesson ? Thanks a lot!
You are welcome Marc Lozachmeur! Tu diras simplement: You brought the house down. The video/the lesson is amazing/awesome/fabulous.
@@Ispeakspokespoken You always give good advice!
Hi Adrien, this video is very interesting. But I have two questions. 1. What is the difference between I've no idea and I have not idea? 2. Can I speak: I'm having not a problem?
Thank you and enjoy the rest of your day
I have no idea = I do not have an idea
I have not idea ❌ => have est un verbe, pas un modal, dans cette phrase. Il nous faut le modal "do not" pour faire la négation.
Can I
I am having not a problem ❌

Hi!est -ce qu'on peut dire "I have no probleme"?
Yes ! I have no problem (without E"
Hello. I 've just watched an old video with "must and have to". And you explained on it many ways. "Must ".. when an obligation comes from the subjet and "have to" comes an external obligation. Actually it was crystal clear for me and currentally I am in the fog. I am laughing because I wrote I am in the frog and I 've had a doubt.....Thanks a lot dictionary ! Could tell me something about have to and must, please ?
michelle LAGRANGE thank you for your question.
You're right.
"Must" is for internal obligations (what we want to do). => I must do my howework (because I want to improve my English)
"Have to" is for external obligations (what somebody else wants us to do). => I have to do my homework (because the teacher asked me to)
Bonjour, je voudrais savoir si il y avait également une vidéo dans le même style sur To be? Merci d'avance

Hello Adrien! Thanks for this lesson. When I say : It has been raining for two days, could I traduce in this way: "Il avait plu pendant deux jours" ? or is it wrong?
It has been raining for two days = Il pleut depuis 2 jours
Il avait plu depuis deux jours = It had rained for two days (and it's not raining anymore)
Je vais t'embaucher Christian (avec Cyrus ^^).

Avec plaisir
Salut Adrien, on peut dire I have no time? Et he has no money?
Yes exactly Anasthasie RAMADJI.
@@Ispeakspokespoken Thank you a lot. Be in touche.
Yes,quite
Pour formuler la négation
I have time/news/a brother/a car => I do not have time/news/a brother/a car ou I have no time/news/brother/car (pas de "a" après "no")
I've (= I have) got time/news/a brother/a car => I've (= I have) got no time/news/brother/car
Si on dit "I have not got qqch", ça veut dire quelque chose de différent
I have not got (any) time = I have not had (any) time recently/lately, I have been very busy recently/lately.
I have not got (any) news = I have not received/heard any news recently/lately.
I have not got a car = I have not bought/rented/received a car yet.
I have not got a brother => on ne dit pas ça.
Merci beaucoup vieux frère! 👍 (une fois de plus )

Hi Adrien.
Yanis Laudy, thank you for your question.
Nope, comme l'infinitif est to watch, ça sera I'm watching TV.
MAIS si l'infinitif est to have dinner alors tu pourras dire : I'm having dinner.
Awesome this lesson!
Thanks so much Adrian.

Pourquoi pour "je vis à Paris depuis 2 ans", ne dit-on pas "I've been living in Paris for 2 years" au lieu de "I have lived in Paris for 2 years"
Catherine KRAUS-MARTY thank you for your question.
Hi.After thinking about them......it is OK. If I say, I have to go it means I am obliged because my train leaves at 2 pm for example. But if I say my house must be cleaned...not an external obligation... houuu je me fatigue toute seule !
Yes exactly michelle LAGRANGE.
I have to go= je dois y aller
pourquoi n'est pas utilisé : I must to go Quelle est la différence
Beni Mukamina thank you for your question.
Have to = obligation externe, I have to go. = Je dois y aller (je n'ai pas le choix).
Must = obligation très forte (obligation que j'impose). I must go. = Il faut vraiment que j'y aille.
I hope this helps!
Hello Adrian,
Pourquoi "They don't have ANY time" et pas "She doesn't have ANY money"?
Thank you!
Cécile
ANY c'est aucun(e), NOT ANY c'est rien, pas le/la moindre. Not any c'est pour insister sur la négation dans les deux phrases.
Do you have some money ?
I don't have (money) => je n'en ai pas.
I don't have any (money) => je n'en ai rien.
I have no idea about it/that/this => je n'en ai pas idée.
I do not have any idea about it/that/this => je n'en ai aucune idée, je n'en ai pas la moindre idée.
La deuxième phrase la traduction n'est pas correcte (they don't have any time c'est ils n'ont pas d temps au lieu de je)
Yes exactly Djiby Timera. Bravo pour ta vigilance
