    What a cutie daisy!!! I am learning so much from you Marion, thank you! You are absolutely right. There are several little tutorials online that teaches the stitching technique, but does not show how it can be used in a project like you do! Love it! I am also so excited you have more videos coming up! I will never be overwhelmed by your videos. Keep them coming ❤❤❤❤❤ Have a lovely day.

      I'm so pleased that the way I've shown it has made you want to try it Yvonne. There are lots of stitches that you might think are difficult, but in reality they're really not. As always, practice makes everything easier to do. But you have to start somewhere, and, as long as you're enjoying yourself, what's the worst that can happen? Let me know how you get on with it.... good luck!

      @jeanmansfield1138 Před rokem

      @@marionsworld24 I've made Torchon, Bedfordshire. Bucks Point, Honiton and a little Needlelace until going to a lace group once a month twenty years ago when I'd have bad headaches for a day or two afterwards - probably caused by me getting more hunched over the day as I worked I realised later! - and by then I'd joined a branch of The Embroiderers' Guild and was going to quilting classes (until they weren't considered educational!). Thus slow growing lace got left behind and I always had difficulty beginning a piece without a teacher. Due to my husband being in the RAF until 1999 we moved around a little so I generally muddled through but I enjoyed it. I've met some lovely people through the years and still keep in touch with some. Even when I was in Germany I had fun trying to buy stranded cottons in a shop for a couple of small tablecloths with transfer patterns printed on them. I have to follow someone else's ideas as yourself and some other people I've met just naturally produce a breathtaking piece. I love stitching but even when I've finished a piece hate making it into its final stage in case I ruin many hours of work by cutting badly/bungling a join. That's me and I don't like time limits etc as it's stressful and I lose the enjoyment but I still make gifts if I plan well ahead. We've just booked a few days in London to see our daughter and celebrate my husband's birthday a few days early in October so we're crossing fingers the train strikes won't be on our chosen dates as I'm heading for a day at the Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace! I haven't been for years but I really want to go. I've wool in my stash for 3 winter sweaters so I'll concentrate on the stitching side. So annoying not to rely on public transport!☹️

    • @marionsworld24
      @marionsworld24  Před rokem +1

      I've only made torchon lace. I think that's probably the easiest to learn as I was learning from a library book...but I do know that there's a lace group not that far away from me that I may join if I think I have the time.
      I'm also going to the knitting and Stitching show... Just it'll be the one at Harrogate in November.
      There'll definitely be some knitting coming up on my channel as I've a couple of cardigans to start. Both beautiful fair isle ones.
      I hope you don't have a bother with the train strikes and enjoy London whilst you're there.

      Hello Sharon. I'm using old Anchor Coton a Broder number 18. I also have number 16 too. The lower the number the thicker the thread. I think mine would equate to around 3 strands of embroidery floss. If you use a finer thread you'd have to work a smaller petal. I'd have a practice with all 6 strands and a petal of around 2cm length as a practice. My petals are 1.5cm long. Good luck! Let me know how you get on with it....

      @marionsworld24  Před 9 měsíci

      Oh dear Julie... The name is Coton a Broder. It's a single ply soft embroidery thread that comes in different thicknesses. The lower the number the thicker the thread. 16 is the thickest. Some of my thread is 16, some of it is 18. You could use 3 strands of stranded cotton instead which would get the same effect. I bought mine second hand as a bundle of assorted colours.
