Thank you Claudia for always standing up for black women
Right, I can give her that. She always stand for women.
But Claudia is half Italian, she should stand for her white side too.
@@Therealpenelopepitstoptrue. It seems like she sometimes forgets she is half white too. Even if she doesn’t want to be.
@@Ksa-jy7eb- She's probably faced racism from whites. And she doesn't even look biracial to me.

Speak Claudia! There is a discrepancy and black women are exhausted!
Beyond exhausted
Taraji P Henson is Not average and has NEVER been. She generates millions for the industry and should be compensated for such. Thank you, Claudia, for being the voice of reason on this one.
Her agent should be asking for more.Shes a pretty big star, so I’m sure she would get more. Wonder how much she got for hidden figures?
🎯💯
💯@@maddybee4523 I believe her team is not negotiating well enough . She probably took the Benjamin Button role in order to star with Brad Pitt - her folks should have demanded higher .
People didn't watch Benjamin Button because of Taraji. She was a supporting actress. Not a lead. If it was Angela Basset; she would get paid more. I think the problem is, is that she is more known for her tv film work. 'Hidden figures was a moderate hit. Dont believe the hype. The movie itself is giving me 'the Help' vibes and was full of inaccuracies. Hollywood is comfortable with black people in 'struggle' roles in movies about struggling with being black. I think Taraji is a victim of typecasting and your reputation(paygrade) is only as good as your last big performance.

“The message should be what the message is.” Thank you, Claudia. It’s not a difficult concept. Pay disparity is what it is. One does not have to be in the same industry to understand Taraji’s point and sympathize with the situation.
Absolutely
The Black men sounded just like White men on this topic. Claudia stranded with Taraji and all the other black actresses. But then again they probably make more than her because they're men and they're ok with that.
Every black woman in every state and industry knows exactly how she feels

Don't forget Viola Davis has also been ringing the alarm about being under paid compared to her white counter parts. In 2023, this is unfair and despicable!
Taraji needs to start producing and directing as well as acting. She can control her own bag at this point.
👍🏽
Yes! Keri Washington has been behind the scenes directing and executive producing as well as Angela that’s literally the only way to bump the pay up
This is what I am thinking they together have 100s millions of followers, they need to either build their own black Hollywood, retire, or stop crying if they will keep accepting this low offers
@@sweetdreamscrjust build another black studios like Tyler perry or combine with him
Smart
Taraji should not quit acting. She should quit accepting roles that dont pay her what she is worth. And what she can also do is gather other actors who feel the same way and find a way to get funding to start their own networks, production companies and produce and sell their own shows and movies.
WELL.FROM LISTENING TO HER THE WAY SHE HAS TO PAY OUT AFTER GETTING PAID FROM A ROLE STILL DOESN'T MATTER. LISTENING TO HER SHE MAYBE LUCKY TO EVEN KEEP HALF AFTER UNCLE SAM & PRODUCTION. I'VE NEVER HEARD THE BREAKDOWN OF HOW THE PAY IS DIVIDED. IT WAS ENLIGHTENING.
@@ceecee811She wants her baseline pay to increase.
Then should wouldn’t be working.
@@dorisjking8937 THAT WOULD BE LOVELY
If she wants her brand to be mainstream, she should quit doing Tyler Perry movies. I don’t remember the name of the movie, but the one where she went crazy and popped up on her ex’s yacht. Everything about that movie was wrong.
However, if she wants to be paid, then she should focus on the TP universe. Unfortunately, she can’t have it both ways at this point in her career.
Pay disparity is an American problem. People like Taraji have a right to complain about what they are paid. It's a systemic capitalist problem across all industries in this country.
Preach!
I agree. I get what Quintin is saying, but it’s good for her to speak out on behalf of the ones coming behind her! He doesn’t want to get to her position and still be fighting to get paid what his wyt counterparts are paid.
Oprah reminds me of the Dr Jackie women. They are capitalists and don’t care to change as long as they are good. They’ll talk about it, but won’t be about it.

People unconsciously don’t believe that we deserve better or to be on equal footing with our non-Black counterparts. There’s always this mentality of just be happy you have income or people would kill for that situation….
I truly believe Taraji has depression. All that stress of promoting the movie is making her more anxious. She is talented. Don’t quit sis but do set boundaries.

My husband and I live in two different homes. We are building a farm. It is undeveloped land so everything is from scratch. I’m 2.5 hours away for our house in the city. His job is 5 minutes from our house in the city. He going to move down permanently once he retires in 3 years. I’m 40 and he’s 60.
We have gotten closer since living in separate homes. We are on the phone all the time and when I go up or he comes down it is or when we go on vacation action, it’s, for lack of a better world, magical. Absence does make the heart grow fonder. Claudia has been looking so good. I love the extension. I also love how the guys have been back and forth. I'm so here for it.
I think people are taking Taraji more seriously because of her delivery and her having a better track record of her movies making money versus monique who was asking for a boycott solely to benefit her and not having a movie where she's the sole lead that did huge numbers
I honestly dont think Taraji established herself as a A-list movie star until Hidden Figures. Her pay quota should've been respected after that.

Monique was not the first to confront the industry regarding black actresses. Alfred Woodard, Whoopie Goldberg, Loretta Devine, Viola Davis, Angela Bassett, and so on. Taraji has to start creating multiple incomes and developing additional brands, like Keke Palmer.

Al said he's a scholar. But his annunciation of words says otherwise.
His annunciation of words has nothing to do with being a scholar or getting excellent grades. A person can speak well and be dumb as shit.😢
Also remember when ms Angela Bassett got her tv show she was reported to have been the highest paid black actress in which she got $400,000 per episode
But she is an executive producer on the show so she is still being under paid for what she should be getting as both an actress and EP.. the Latino lady on Moderm Family is only an actress and she’s been getting around $300k per episode. This why Claudia said to compare them to other actors in the business.
meanwhile Charlie Sheen got $1.9 million/ episode
Hollywood is not based on the most talented gets paid the most
No one's getting what I'm saying back then for ms Bassett to be getting not even half of what the Friends cast got and their show had long been off the air just seems weird

Funky and Al need NOT communicate on the black woman’s career plight. Taraji is not making what she deserves-bottom line. Monique is not making what she deserves-bottom line. Viola is not making what she deserves-bottom line. They do MOVIES, not Black movies! The box office is separate from their salaries. Pay them what they’re worth, and that’s EVERYTHING.
But isn't some of the "worth" based on the output of a product? If your product/movie is making X, then why would you be making what someone bringing in more is? It sucks, but if we take the emotion out of it, it's sort of logical.
@@jb3702 Understood. That’s logical, but logic doesn’t transfer in real life. Often, Caucasian counterparts get paid their worth without the box office reaching its projected financial goals. These three women bring box office hits every time, so she has to show emotion for the blatant inequities.
It's not just black women, black men deal with it too and everything they said was on point cause how it plays to the public is we can feel sorry for you but most of us underpaid and overworked too so idk why she's telling us this now. Taraji is an “A” list star ! She should be making what her peers make
Taraji is not quitting acting because of pay. Right now She's deeply upset because she didn't get a nomination from Golden Globes like her co-stars. She's embarrassed and in mourning. We all know she did an excellent job in that movie and should have received a nomination.

Love you Claudia! You spoke truth to power with these men about pay disparity. The men played devil’s advocate but also looked for ways to justify Taraji being low-balled. Their male privilege was exposed.
“We’re married but living single lives”… we live in a very confused society. 🤦🏽♀️
I know a couple that's been married many years. And they slept in separate rooms for many years. The wife moved to Florida. Her husband didn't want to go so, she went without him. And their older kids watch out for him.
I just hope she asked for a huge residual check from the Baby Boy movie because B.E.T played that movie out, so i hope she had a great contract with that movie.
Guy Fieri is already passing the baton to his son Hunter who got a culinary degree from UNLV and is already working with him on his food network shows and restaurants
Exactly.
You're right I see Hunter all the time on the food network with his dad.
Exactly Claudia! Let’s be clear, unless Taraji wants her home to be foreclosed on and to be quote-on-quote “poor” yes she has to take some of the more B/C list movies/roles because newsflash she has to eat, and the A list roles aren’t especially knocking on the black woman’s door. Al be for real, no matter how the counterparts stop taking the lesser roles, face the facts they didn’t start out where an African American has started! And most times they have trust funds and whatnot to fall back on so that they can “hold out” until they land those A list roles- come down to reality Al!
Do actors have to take roles if the pay isn't there? How do male actors work out deals where they get paid on the back end and get the proceeds after the movie comes out and is successful? I feel so bad for Taraji. She is an Oscar caliber actress and should be paid accordingly.
Merry Christmas Claudia, Al, and Funky!!!
Great show guys, kept me entertained and I appreciate your opinions.

@@lancomenyongo7346BS. Monique went after many people (including Black women and men), burnt many bridges, and had a reputation as being difficult to work with. On top of that she wasn't worth what she was asking for, as the numbers for her comedy specials, tours, movies, etc reflect. She's not much of a draw outside of her small rabid fan base. In addition she wasn't the first to bring up the pay discrepancy for Black women.

Hollywood pays u based on the audience u bring in. Denzel, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise can open a movie, meaning they can guarantee it a strong opening weekend therefore they get $30 mil per movie. Viola Davis is also getting millions because she turned a small movie, the Woman King, into a box office hit (over 100 million gross). If u can guarantee a tv audience, same thing, you’ll get paid. Love Tarji but she is not as popular and can’t guarantee the kind of audience Viola and a Meryl Streep can. This isn’t sexism nor racism, it’s capitalism period!
Shhhh, be quiet. How dare you come here with facts. It's only about feelings here. Sarcasm aside It's like when wnba players complain about pay compared to NBA players. One league loses money, while another generates billions. People don't understand living in a capitalist system. Black women led films do not generate on average the same amount of money as their male counterparts. Don't like it? Go support more Black women led films and get their box office numbers up.

Yes he can be out of touch sometimes 😂🤣
Loved how he tried to get pretentious with his SAT scores and Claudia clown him and moved on quickly, lol.
Fact is he is out of touch. I like him, but let’s be real- his early lifestyle was mostly funded by his ex-wife. When he had to come out there’s no doubt that although he is working more, there is most likely a rich male who is helping to fund his lifestyle now. He’s out of touch because the fact is, IT DOESN’T affect him. And instead of him simply seeing something for what it is or bowing out because he’s truly out of touch, he gets on his high horse and proudly mishandle anyone who isn’t earning or being gifted 6-8 figure salaries.
@@avasd59Not just alternative facts, but words too. I can’t be the only one who heard him say Codderaldo?
But you guys can’t say Taraji is doing movies that are subpar because those are the movies they ALLOW her to do. The bigger more mainstream movie roles aren’t given to the mass of black actors. They are given to their Caucasian counterparts. I disagree with AL on this one. That girl still have to work. She can’t just not take roles waiting on that big white world break to come….ITS JUST NOT! And it’s not because she isn’t an acclaimed actress. It’s because of the same white glass ceiling she spoke of.
I get Claudia's point about acting but are we surprised Brad Pitt got that much more than Taraji? Honestly I didn't even know her in 2008 that well to get excited to see her movies but everyone knew brad Pitt. I think it's absurd to even try to use it as an example.

Happy Holiday Saturday everyone. 😊 ☕ 🎄
It’s not our black women’s choices or lack thereof when it comes to these roles, they are NOT given the opportunity for bigger budget films. How can they get paid their worth when the high grossing black buster films don’t deem them as an asset?! It’s all about what brings in those gross profits, we are the last too be seen and when we are heard, we don’t get the same support that black women in film should get. It’s a very cutthroat industry, and I sympathize at the exhaustion she most feel from fighting for her creative due rights all these years. She’s worth it, she acted better than many in Benjamin Button, Oscar nominated, but with a small supporting role that did not get the same credit. SMH
