People say that this is still paltry compared to the real thing. Well every single modern building is nothing compared to this. Some people in the west are narcissistic and delusional and think that just because their older buildings built at least a century ago are more ornate than these buildings it somehow compensates for the fact that they can’t produce anything similar in the present for a decent price. We build. Glass and steel. Boxes.

As a Chinese this is absolutely no way we are showing our power by copying famous architecture, it only shows how stupid some local governments are to even approve the constructions (or even build their own office like the Whitehouse). I feel embarrassed for this video as well, and we have so much to learn not only the architectural design and technology but also how an architect should contribute to this society in a good way.
Patrick Lin - a rising and confident power will make honest copies.
Agreed... The pseudo intellectual justification used is self evidently false.
For instance, no one honestly considers the replicas of the sphinx or Eiffel tower in las Vegas to be a sign of status or power.
They are unimaginative attractions, that's all.
It is also a reflex of how unethical Chinese people can be. All major developments there are the result of industrial espionage and the subsequent intellectual property they steal from the west. Once the creators of a great civilization, now chinese people are a big threat for the world.
Patrick Lin your power ??? Really thing that you have some sort of power

Fun fact, architecture reflects a country's culture, that's why, French architecture is different than Kremlin, and that's why, France doesn't build copycats of Kremlin, if they need more buildings they'll build it in their own traditional style...however china has completely wiped out their ancient culture, that's why, they need these copycats... Seems like, buildings need to be copyrighted as well.

Lance Burley I wouldn't put it on the over 1 billion people that live in China, but rather, particular people. Sure there are always going to be some average people that have this mentality, but it doesn't mean the majority of average people over there agree. I'm sure there are many average Chinese people with original and innovative ideas, but something stands in the way of them fulfilling all the original talent they DO have to give.
It IS. But that's what sells. Not only are we building these crap, we're also making old Chinese town replicas. So no need to get too mad about it. They'll die out when people become more artistically competent. And when real estate bubble pops.
Lance Burley it’s the communists.
Lance Burley when Mao took over he killed the creative, intelligent and successful.
I HATE TOUCANS don't confuse political idealogies with culture. China has innovated in its long history. This phenomenon of copying architecture is not cultural. Communism limits free thoughts and ideas. Without those two, you don't get innovation. And that is not representative of a nation's culture. That is a consequence of its brutal political system.
Something is deeply wrong with that country
If China can't own everything, they just horribly recreate everything within the country's borders.
Its bloody to invade the whole world so they copy the world.

Don't talk about Chinese people like they're abstractions. They're humans too, they read CZcams comments too, they feel the sting of exclusion the same way you do.
@@RunRonaldRun When most people criticize China, they usually criticize the government
China faces some serious inferiority complex issues.
India was ruled by British and other Europeans for centuries, we speak European languages and understand European culture better than Chinese but even we don't try to replicate European buildings like this😑.
Part of it has to do with Mao's direction he wanted China to go culturally, and he wanted the culture to be redefined from the original traditional Chinese culture by any means. It's why realistic art was at it's height when he was in charge, part of it had to do with trying to have closer ties to the Soviet Union; but mostly the art was used as propaganda to reassure the CCP was supreme. With that, design elements were shaped to Mao's expectations, but I think it does make the government look like they have insecurities with their traditional culture when it should have been embraced.
The other part is that China for the past 20 years have been making a business in the country to demolish towns, that were once thousands of years old, for super cities with skyscrapers to impress the citizens and possible foreigners looking to invest. Over time though, the skyscrapers were either kept in control of the government forcing people to relocate when convenient, sometimes the towers sat empty with no one occupying the wasted space, or the buildings were built with little care of the durability of the structures. The sad part is that is was a custom for any member of a village who moved or relocated to a different region make an effort to visit their old homes, but the demolishing towns and villages is putting an end to that tradition.
As a Westerner, it bugs me that everyone is trying to follow the same cookie cutter architecture, I even hate the architecture in my home town. In my opinion, if I am going to travel to a foreign country, I want to have a chance to be immersed with the culture as much as possible. With the basic cheap architecture, it sort of ruins the effect that I traveled thousands of miles to a different place. It's why I am happy to see architecture built previously before WWII as it's the closest to relating to a countries' origins or understanding the history of the place. Not saying everyone worldwide can't advance or be inspired by different cultures, just it's appreciated when a country preserves their architecture.
An Indian talking about inferiority complex...lol

@Francis The human psyche is so complex that a single old, sententious, and not to mention questionable phrase cannot even begin to describe it. Phrases like the one you just use have literally no meaning in this context.
It’s not just about inferiority complexes... the Chinese government wants to encourage as many of it’s people to stay within it’s borders, so building replicas of western landmarks, in their warped minds, will discourage western travel and therefore prevent more people from either wanting to leave China permanently or returning to China with open eyes from seeing the freedoms most westerners have.

It's like saying 70% of european cannons during the 1700's were swedish because they were made of swedish copper.
Its not showing power ok? ! It's only about entertainment or business-drive orientation or some local municipality stupidity. The ordinary people dont give a shit about politics and also they have no access to outside due to the nation internet firewall. With higher tax rate, high tuition fee and high of everything, they already suffer too much. So if you blame the government, I don't give a shit, but if you insult the citizens out there, I simply don't feel it fair.
@@Busketroll I point it out just from the cultural aspective and we talk about the impact to specific area, not necessarily for the whole , by your logic, so we can see that, the video posted here I never heard of back in China, it's the first time and even I feel ridiculous. But you comment the whole china based on the video clip, don't you think its too much judgmental? Before we comment something on social media, getting through with it first and then write your shit is more acceptable and neutral. We should think critically and fair, dont u think?
which bothers to show power? we just make fun of these buildings.
2:08 from where does this look like Sydney's opera house
That Opera house replica tho 😂😂😂🤣
. this is actually hilarious they decided to remake the London Bridge I wonder if they are aware of the religious Aesthetics of that time period? 😂😂😂😂😂
It's tower bridge not London bridge
I don't think are, I mean they built a church! Although, religion isn't a building, I've seen with my own two eyes a church, in London, being used as a night club!
Disrespectful? Yes, but it happens.
Tower bridge*
Why can't they just open their eyes
😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣 i feel horrible for laughing at this
This statement is deep 😂😂
B1M, could you please show the replicas in other countries as well?
They rebuilt everything they deemed worthy and beautiful, while most others just talk.
Others create new things.
@@jmitterii2 Where are the new things? Or is it just a matter of 'if it's not 'new', might as well don't do anything? Talk is cheap.
except for the Opera house that looks like cancer
@@mottscottison6943 Lol the only reason they build it is to give the Chinese a reason to stay and not to go visit the real place and get away from the Chinese communist propaganda
@@tiagomonteiro130 jokes on you. China has about 130 million people travel out of China each year, and the second closests, US only has about 90million per year, despite being 5 times richer per capita. So tell me again who is trapped under a well?
China literally have my dream LEGO sets
LGAO sets
ha im currently living in Suzhou, the old city is lovely but the sheer scale of urban development has sucked all the authenticity out of the surrounding former countryside to the point that you could conceivably be anywhere in the west, Orlando, Brisbane who knows the bridge is quite the laugh though.
And its a fucking dictator
Why does china look like a minecraft world
Lofi 10,000 why you copy/paste the top comment?
Lol, same as China, you just copied it from top comment. What a hypocrite
Kids: can we travel?
American dad: no we got the world replica at Vegas
Hua-Shi
Prakhar Tiwari why does he say who-axy?
Because he's not been to China perhaps.
Thank you. I took too many Chinese classes to listen to his pronunciation comfortably.
Chinese have a great culture and history, they are one of the world's oldest civilization, I don't understand why they copy western architecture. They should embrace and be proud of their culture.
When the Chinese Communist Party started the so called "cultural revolution" in 1966. The CCP destroyed the original ancient chinese temples, other cultural heritage and traditions declaring those old cultures and traditions are what made china a backward nation. The REAL chinese culture that the world knows does not exist in mainland china today. Authentic chinese culture has survived in Taiwan and Hong Kong. But Chinese communist government hates both Taiwan and Hong Kong.
My thoughts exactly dude. They have no need to copy anyone, they have their own distinctiveness and could innovate design like the guys in the gulf countries are doing. But nooooo, somehow ripping off existing architecture that looks even worse is somehow a display of power *facepalm*
Lol you didn't understand their communist government had destroyed ancient Chinese culture
In the name of fake modernization
Physalia Physalis This is partially innocent, the CCP started the cultural revolution to get rid of some horrible cultural practices going on at the time and students took it wayyyy to far. They CCP didn’t brother to stop the students however until they’re own power was being threatened
Ayush Parasar Modernization gets good reputation , why do you think Japan and Korea. Skyscrapers and modern buildings. Although they have preserved elements of there traditional architecture thankfully. Westerns see traditional buildings and scoff at them sadly, it’s all about glass towers. So that’s why many devolving countries ditch they’re traditional styles to appease capital.
literally an office copying machine: hey wait, ive seen this one before
china: wdym? this is new, chinese architecture! "statue of liberty" has great chinese history!
Bruh I imagine them in about 2000 years they will claim that these design they copied came from them and argue if you don't believe
-When you visit “It’s a Small World” at Disneyland once.
Guangdong has a copy of Hallstatt village (Austria). The real one is infinite more beautiful because the mountains.
Only mention Austria? They litteraly have corrupted every country with their filthy satanic hands..!
Try copying “The Tajmahal”.
The will do it, I'm impressed they haven't done it by now.
Loot jayegi unki
Kailasa temple or biggest Cambodian hindu temple
They just can’t !thats what my point is.

Open challenge , try to replicate south India's ancient temples
No one can 😝
impossible
no temple is a replicate so its impossible to copy.
@@ramennoodles8546 what are you saying???
@@walnut9472 no other temple is a duplicate of the other. every single temple is unique. so its almost impossible to even try to replicate it.
This country really has a problem...
And the replicas are horrible.
This is a joke right!!! Everyone copy Las Vegas
Thunder Snake and los Vegas has pyramid from Egypt and that India building where trump has business with..m
Lil Ladiboi From Bangkok that’s obviously because Egypt copied Las Vegas
Thunder Snake time to US to invade Egypt.
Yeah because we all knoe America is known for its historical architecture. Get the F outta here you bafoon.
Thunder Snake
Las Vegas is unique. It is and always has been a gimmick towm, and its hotels and attractions are gimmicky and fantastical like a theam park or a putt putt golf course. What China does is copy and build world icons and treat it like common architecture in their cities, which is very bizarre.
These landmarks can be used for shooting movies. The cost will be way low.
When you're so powerful that you recreate your own buildings.
Me: mom can I have Sidney Opera House
Mom: no, we have Sidney Opera House at home
Sidney Opera house at home: 2:08
They look nothing alike... Like not even 0.00000001% who named it the Sydney Opera house smh
They both have the shaped roofs
*Sydney
You had that coming 😜
The 'Capitol' building looks more like an ordinary neo-classic building. The US Capitol itself drew inspiration from other structures such as Saint Peter's Basilica and Saint Paul's Cathedral.
R.I.P. COPYCAT ARCHITECTURE IN CHINA
Bizare, considering that China has literally thousands of years of its own architectural history.
