      yeah for the money i spend in London for just 1 room, I could have a 3 bedroom apartment for just myself in my country of origin (Spain). It is crazy. Compared to London, Tokyo looks quite cheap, although it isn't.

  • @wabisabi6802
    @wabisabi6802 Před 8 lety +17

    Depending on the size of the appartment 60 - 70k Yen isn't too bad, with a part time job you could afford that quite easily, and even if you live in the suburbs, there are many ways to get by with public transportation, so it's quite conveniant.
    Also, their clothes and styles are amazing.

  • @Primu
    @Primu Před 8 lety +31

    That rent sounds surprisingly cheap for Tokyo (60k yen = £380). I live in one of the smaller cities in the UK and the cheapest rent I could find was £500, average is around £900.

    • @lola5136
      @lola5136 Před 8 lety +1

      Yes, I live in one of the smallest islands of Spain, and all the rents are between 800-900€, so the rents in Japan are cheap...

    • @saldiven2009
      @saldiven2009 Před 8 lety +3

      +Prim Pri The cheap apartments they're talking about in Tokyo are typically two rooms. One is a bathroom. The other is a single room, like a studio apartment, that has a kitchenette tucked in one corner. If you google search for apartments of this price in the in-town portion of Tokyo, they're usually less than 200 square feet in size (less than 20 square meters).

    • @saldiven2009

    • @ivant4109
      @ivant4109 Před 8 lety +2

      +Prim Pri Well, you have to consider in pounds it sounds cheaper than it actually is. Secondly, it really depends on where you live in Tokyo (which is huge) and flats are really small anyways.

    Mortgages are cheap in USA compared to many countries . For example you can buy 2200 sqft house in South for 260k, and make payments of 1000 dollars per mo. But most families earn atkeast 80 k average per year or 7k per mo. So housing affordability is real good in USA. But it costs 1600 to rent.

    All the fashion in this video is amazing! :D I wanna live in Japan just so I can walk around dressed like that without everyone staring at me like I'm crazy. I know the majority of Japanese don't dress this way. But because there are some ppl who actually do so, it's still less weird than if you were to dress that way in a country where such a subculture is nonexistent. Also cuz the weather actually allows me to layer clothes. It's difficult to be fashionable when you live in a tropical country, where stepping out the door means immediately sweating buckets and your curls going flat.

    • @StarRoseAngelic
      @StarRoseAngelic Před 8 lety +1

      +Linds Tee It's more about which city you travel to than the country. For example, this is in Tokyo (Shibuya district), which is known for its prevalent street fashion. If you travel to the more rural areas of of Japan dressed in this way (on top of being a foreigner) you will definitely be seen as very bizarre.

    • @Punk3rGirl
      @Punk3rGirl Před 8 lety

      +StarRoseAngelic yeah I know, I've been to Japan several times. I was thinking of Tokyo in my comment, but I suppose I could've been more specific. I'm from Singapore where the entire country is smaller than the size of Tokyo, and people often just go to the main shopping district/city area in shorts, a t-shirt and slippers (dressing pretty much how they would dress on a casual day regardless of where they are in the country), exceptions being in the workplace, school and the rare youth that really cares abt fashion.

      Tokyo is so much expensive than Turkey too. The apartments here are dirt cheap compared to Tokyo but Turkish people earn significantly less money. Teachers in public schools earn like 800-1200 dolars in a month at most.
