Thanks to CZcams algorithm I landed on your video. As a lifelong skater in my 30s, that also happens to work at SketchUp, this made me happy to see. I am currently planning out my own backyard project right now too. What you have accomplished so far is amazing and the sweat equity makes it all the better I’m sure
Stoked to hear that! Hell yeah sketch up is good once you get the hang of it. Best of luck in your journey my friend👊🏼 if you have any questions at all, hit me up!
🤘
I second this comment in every detail... Lifelong skater, 30's, SketchUp, building backyard skatepark, thankful for people like you who documented their process so the world may learn from you.
look at mine ;)
So did u ever build some ramps? I can relate I'm a skater in my 30s with sons that are 10 and been building some concrete ramps! I used to have a big wopd ramp at the old house but wood just doesn't last!
I hadn't messed w sketch up much but used to use Autocad some on the cpu, gonna have to check it out now!
Also been working in a video of the first quater I built a few months ago!
Good luck!
No, we definitely appreciate you my friend... It's every skateboarders dream to have their very own skatepark/plaza in their backyard... Seeing the process, sacrifices, blood, sweat, & tears man... I'm pretty sure I speak for most of the skate community when I say this. You're showing us just how to fulfill that dream... Thanks again bro... 👍
This is literally every skaters dream to have their own skatepark or plaza in their backyard
I am also located in Texas to by the way
the world needs more neighbors like you.
u gave inspiration to build someting at my grandmother house. its a perfect place for a perfect spot
Dude you are awesome!
Sweet. Thanks for sharing!
Fuck. Yes. Dude. That hip's gonna be soooooo fun.
Love it dude, I have a similar backyard setup that was built over lockdown!
Thanks bro I’m tearing up my yard as we speak. Learned a lot from you.
Ramp looks awesome. Some shiny 4 inch tile would have looked good under the coping. Maybe next time you pour concrete. Maybe you could paint a stripe under the coping instead. Makes it easier to see the coping when you're skating.
Hell yeah that's a good idea
The "mistakes" make it more organic my man. You're killing it. This is every skateboarders goal
Seeing the progress is amazing
I enjoyed this video..can’t wait for #10!
Damn that is cool AF! Subbed! Gotta see more of this. Especially the building and the explanation helps too! Thanks for uploading!
Great job!!!
This is so clean! Looks like fun too
Best diy backyard you really put the work in I love it so sick G
Thanks playa!
@@takeawayfarm you should make fence extensions in the future so your neighbors cants see the park as much and gives you more privacy for you and your kids
Happy you showed clips of you skating it
Good job! One step at a time and soon enough you’ll be skating your own plaza! 💪
Nice work, thanks for posting this compilation of all the work on your backyard skatepark.
Good stuff man keep at it and good work. Hope to see more
Man im so happy i found this channel. Youre really entertaining to watch.
just purchased my first property and this is super inspiring and cool to see! thanks!
stoked you are sharing this, it's looking awesome so far, love the way you're incorporating the posts and wood into the build, pretty original and saves moving tons of dirt or rubble.
Thank you! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you for doing this! 26,000 views is no joke. You're doing the skating community a good service here 🤙
the pvc pile system is actually a sick idea
I did a small pond bowl right-hand kidney in the backyard a couple years ago..... best decision ever. stoked for ya.
Love seeing this kind of stuff. 100% DIY and working with what you have is always the best. Looking forward to seeing how you keep building onto it. Props it looks great
Dude, thank you!!!
Hell yeah! this is awesome
Awesome video
Good stuff to watch while sketching deck graphics...
Watched the new Thrasher vid ... got inspired ... clicked on this... YO Thanks for these tips !! wish I was your neighbor. Keep shredding bro !!!

Good luck! If you have any questions you know where to find me
Thank you for documenting this, im about to start something similar in my country and it helps a lot !
Thank you. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
@@takeawayfarm after the concrete has set do you just leave the plywood sheets under it or are those removed as well?
Good stuff man! Keep it up!
dude this is sick. its kind of the dream for most skaters. the safe place where you can skate and be at peace and grow good food and raise animals. im in the process of urban homesteading our house here in texas and along with my miniramp ill have chickens and a large greenhouse and nursery. im subbing so I can keep up with your dream, much love
Dude hell yeah! If you have any questions at all about chickens or anything urban homesteading im here to help. PS check out Joel Salatin "Polyface Farm".
@@takeawayfarm thanks man I appreciate it. I haven't read Joel's stuff yet but I am familiar with him. I watch Justin Rhodes a lot. its amazing how much a person can learn on youtube
@@cosmicbackwoods yes sir and Justin learns a lot from Joel! Both cool dudes to watch
Really cool!;
So rad
this is so awesome and inspiring! thanks for sharing. would love to do something like this one day
You can do it dude
That’s sick. It looks pretty smooth. Nice work! I hope to attempt something like this in my life.
You can do it!
Very cool. Good work. The PVC piers are a great Idea. The notched form is called a keyway (probably other names too) . Site Design (Old Skatepark architect) used to require it everywhere. One of my first jobs was cutting hundreds of feet of that stuff out of PTFE plastic with a Skilsaw. Stripping those forms was a nightmare! You've got a great setup there. Happy you're sharing this!
Will have to look up keyway now.Thank you!
You've got yourself a subscriber. Keep em coming bro.
Nice 👍
That's great bro.Labor of love built quite a few skate spots myself .52 yrs old and still Rollin.
My idol
That’s awesome bro, I know exactly how it feels to have projects get sidetracked by life.. way to keep pushing through and enjoying life,
You only get one shot 👊🏻
Nice work man. I wish I could still skate in my mid 30s but my back can't take it. I'll still love it forever.
Im in my early thirties, but did all this in the video after neck fusion surgery of my C4-C7 vertebrae in 2016! Neck/Back pain is a daily thang! Didn't want to highlight that though. You got this shit dude. We aren't getting any younger!
Super cool work, wish i had that, insane
Go make it happen!
This is great I’m planning on building a skatepark in this small town in Georgia
Hell yeah, Do it!
Insane build, congrats! Hope you get many a good session in there :)

Take it easy on yourself brosiff, great content and vibes. New sub here.
Yes there are million other things I could be doing. but none of them will be more interesting enjoyable to do at this time. Keep up the the good work. It was nice just hearing you talk instead of trying to be a CZcamsr. Please keep up the good work on your spot and this kind of video
Sincerely appreciate it!
bad ass, bro! thank you so much for sharing the process. Ive always wanted to be a part of a DIY park so I could learn how to do it. Im a carpenter by trade but not that familiar with concrete and i really appreciate the way you did the forms with the rebar sticking out, and the pvc piers. hella cool tricks. stoked for you. congrats.
Thank you James! If you have any questions feel free to reach out!
also, i might add, yall shred on the tranny.
Sick project and video, man! Love your commentary as well, keep it up! 😍
Stoked you enjoyed it, Thank you!
this is so sick! instant sub. Good luck!
Thank you 👊🏼!
nice video
nice
This has got me wanting to do something similar and get back on the board.
Do It!
Enjoyed this video! I’m a skater and I recently started doing carpentry. Concrete work doesn’t sound like much fun to me, but I would like this kind! Lol
Check out @davedeezy666 on ig. He does concrete work as well! Thank you for watching 👊🏼👊🏼
So fucking rad, your hard work is inspiring. Hopefully someday I can own a home to build a personal diy spot. Stay up homies.
You got that shit! and Thank you!
6:14 i hit a dab and was blessed with music from heaven
Hell yea dude! Keep up the hard work, I am trying to do the same thing on my land so I am excited to see the mistakes and lessons learned!
nice, i would like to do something like this
Nice
Omg super jealous I'd help high five
Thank you! I could use a hand too! Lol
Great Job on your DIY back yard Skateboard Plaza, looks pretty sick brotha!! New Sub Here

@@takeawayfarm thanks bro tomorrow ill start building the mold for the transition
Cool
sick
4:30 saving money yes!!!
Don't wanna step on your toes but if your neighbours don't like goat noises, you probably wanna go over there for coffee and discuss skateboarding noise
Im wearing steel toes man. Na its actually all good with them and I.Dude is really cool and they get duck eggs from me lol
dope
Always dreamed of doing this. UK house prices mean that I'll never have the space to do it though. Or at least not until I'm way beyond skateboarding age :(
Don’t crush your own dreams before they happen dude! Get creative with it
yep this is the dream... thats a nice piece of property there, south of Austin? still looks a little hill country-ish....
Mi like y mis respetos 🤜🤛🛹👍
I think you must fill the entire box, long term purpose.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you! Your videos are inspirational. I’m about to acquire some land and will finally have space to pour some terrain. I’m new to concrete work so I’m learning as much as I can. Question, are there no control joints/ gaps needed? You just blend the new sections to the existing sections, no gap needed?
I appreciate the kind words. Honestly i have no idea, i’m by no means a professional. I did however put the grooves to prevent shifting but i guess we will only know over time. If it messed up or it shifts i’ll get the jack hammer and redo it, but so far so good 🤞
can you put like one or two bike sized obstactles in there? maybe a 6ft tall quarter next to a 8x12 wedge?
👍
Awesome job! Do you happen to remember the transition on that quarterpipe?
I want to say 7ft?
👊🔥🤘
amazing job! whats the radius on that quarter pipe ?
7 feet
Nice job, I like the plastic pipe idea, what’s the point of the manhole cover though?!
Aesthetics, though I wish we made it to where it could be lifted to wallie.
😎
Start a go fund me for this shit no one will hate you seem so chill
Trying to do it for free to show anyone can do this! Check out the free materials video if you curious! Thanks for the love
