This video is about SWTOR’s Main Story and what I liked and very much disliked. I only played until KOTET, so Onslaught won’t be covered in this video. I also want to talk about the future of this game.
The main thing I really appreciate about SWTOR is the love and passion poured into the worlds of this game. There are so many details, easter eggs and different other things put into, which I absolutely love.
At least on the beginning. I’ll talk about what I mean by that later in the video.
First I want to explain, what things I liked, and what details I actually mean.
If you played the game from the beginning, you might remember the Holocrons you could find throughout the planets. Finding and interacting with them would give you small stat bonuses. I somewhat liked that feature, because it would incentive players to explore the world, instead of rushing the story.
Of course there were side quests, but the only really worth ones, during that time were the planet story quests. Story quests tied to the planet only. These are pretty cool, as they show more about the planet, lore-wise and of course game-wise. They were also somewhat longer than a normal quest. Basically as long as the main questline on that planet.
So there only like 2 things that would make you explore the world. Of course, there are achievements, but they were just a pat on the shoulder for something very tedious.
Although there were lore objects to find, they are most of the time in the cities or places were NPCs were anyway.
At one point, I think it was around 2014 or 2015, they removed the stats increase and I think they even removed the holocrons altogether.
I’m not entirely sure,, if they got back, but when I started to play a new character, I didn’t find any on Korriban. Which sucks, because that means that I don’t have much todo. Levelling never was a problem in the game, so if I just wanted to re-play the main stories, I wouldn’t need to do the planet stories. The stats increase would help somewhat, as it’s still helpful when late in the game, got to gear cap, you still would be able to increase some stats for PvP or PvE.
All over the world were different easter eggs to find and some of them are pretty cool. Like the Droid and Wookie on Nal Hutta. Which I actually think, would be those two later in the story. (But I don’t know if that was intended or not, probably not).
There were also other impressions from the movies, some hinting to the force ghosts on Tatooine, etc.
The entire game was very rich on details and it’s always a bliss to play the early stages of a character. Besides Taris, I hate the planet. It’s cool, detailed, etc. But the mobs there are annoying. I always hated Rhakgouls. Creepy enemies, with poison. Similar to the Acklays, which are basically huge spiders. If you watched the movies, you know which one.
What else did I love, like or find interesting? I would say, that the stories of the different classes were pretty different. Even the Sorc story vs the Sage Story. Both very different. And playing both Dark and Light made it in the even more different, was something I absolutely enjoyed to see.
After Introducing the Zakuulan Faction, I kind of hoped to see them as a playable thing, as it would be possible.
I would have made them start on Zakuul, as a Knight, Agent, Scion or Trooper. The differences between them and the other two factions, is that those are a balance of the force and technology. The Knights could either be a New Horizon knight or a Eternal Throne Knight. The Agents could be a similar to the imperial Agent, but more of a smuggler or a mercenary type.
Going more in-depth than this would be useless anyway, as it didn’t happen and won’t ever in the future. It would have been great. As I think, it would be a way to introduce a more active and diverse open-world PvP action.

I agree on your opinion. It seems like a lot of potential is wasted and the majority of the content is getting close to a singleplayer experience.
Also I think most recent Starwars games are way to specific. Just an army shooter or a storygame of a single character. I really wish there will be a open world gta online/mmorpg type of Starwars game with updated graphics, combat system and world size.

The world size isn't an issue. They are pretty big. At least the earlier planets.
What I dislike is the inconsistencies between the major planets.
Even smaller planets should be open world and not an instanced mission.
Zakuul is a great example of a good new planet. Open world, relatively big and open world pvp is actually possible.
Iokath, not so much. You explored the map in roughly 4 hours at the latest.
Umbara, Dantooine, etc are all interesting, but only in that mission available. After that you won't be able to visit them.
Planets don't need to be all massive, but they should provide more than just some scenery for one quest.
A world needs to get explored, loved, hated etc. You can't do either of these, with roughly 1h of gameplay there.
I kind of like tab targeting, but also like action. So a hybrid is great as a combat system, which we don't have. The global cooldowns feel bad and kind of like a leash.
Graphics can only get updated with a new engine.
As Bioware has now like 5 people on the team, it's not really possible to do any major changes, to the core gameplay and stuff. Which is sad to see.
Nonetheless is the story fun enough to get played multiple times, unlike in some games, like BDO.

Yes the game is great. There are just some things that need to get addressed, else the game neither improves, nor stays alive.
It's doing better than 2014 / 2015, but it's not enough, if the only social things are the general chat and a guild.
Before you got encouraged to play in groups, now it's just a hindrance, at least for one person. Doing the KOTET and KOTFE missions with more than one person wouldn't progress the story for both, which sucks.
The story itself is good. But it got rushed in the later phases.

I actually hope this game will finally die, i loved this game, but now i feed up with bugs, with slow "new" content development and with idiots - players, quality of the ppl on servers this days is really bad. 95% of ppl here just to play for two weeks and to waste your time as much as possible, old fashioned gamers are dying breed, and it is truly sad, when you cant find good ppl to play with in freaking MMO.
