8:10 I'm glad you mention the idea of a 'nudge'. I talk about this a lot when describing why I like or don't like certain games. I couldn't get too into Feast for Odin because you have to force yourself to try new strategies otherwise you could play it the same way every time. And it's why I love Gaia Project's round goals, just sets you on a possible path. Great call.

I think the asymmetrical conversation is more applicable to pvp games. Because I think Twilight Imperium and Adrenaline (with its incredibly pertinent expansion) are such that even a small nudge is a big enough difference that you will likely win the better you are at working with that particular play style. In specifics I had many thoughts about the adrenaline expansion because it changed the entire feel for the game. You no longer were just running around picking up random guns and using them to replace with new different guns. Instead you were trying to best utilize your personal unique gun and mechanics (which weren't strictly actually balanced)

Nucleum is a bit weird with asymmetric powers, since it's not just setup but the final technology/scoring you're aiming for that is different for everyone. So one character is all about energising the most buildings, one is about building the most rail lines, etc. I think there's enough variability that in setup that you aren't railroaded (so to speak), but people do have different games based on their choice of A-D.
And I hear what you say about solo games. I have tried to get into more of them (including Marvel Champions) as other opportunities become fewer, but I still really prefer to be playing with others. My partner are I even do Final Girl together, when we have the time.

Had to come back to this one. Because I was thinking that Tiny Epic Vikings solo gave me that feel of something more than just a puzzle to solve in a solo player game. I think its worth checking out. Especially since the main complaint about it is that its way heavier than multiplayer game

Had no idea about there being a Star Trek Imperium game. That sounds amazing!

Don't let the haters get to you, they are not worth the time.
Just do what you do and people will watch.

I can relate to your love of games as a shared hobby with your wife. I met mine playing a MMO. We spent many happy hours in Everquest 2, Lord of the Rings Online, ...
I love boardgames for the social aspect and love playing with her, as well as friends.
These days, she has less headspace for games, and so we play more couch co-op console games than boardgames. I sometimes wish the ratio was reversed. But what allows us to have fun together wins out. And life is good.

The point of having asymmetric factions is to play by their individual playstyles. Otherwise what's the point of having asymmetric factions?

"Aliens doing sci fi things" :D:D:D That was good. For me RftG i #1 but... they recycle it too much in different titles. And that is understandable cause it's creating this one universe.

@@rahdo That's New Frontiers:) I have it too but I rate it lower thet Roll. And I don't understand the decision of making double sided player boards when they could do the planet parts separate. I'm hunting for Ambition and Rivalry expansions but... they are quite expensive.
