There was a guy in my company in the Nam named Stan Crawford. He was a Huey Crew Chief like me. He was from Compton, CA and black. I'm from Houston and white. This was Stan's favorite song...he went around singing it all the time. And, he was pretty good at it too. He and his gunner died when their ship went down in the Mekong River. He was my friend and my brother... who died way too soon. Every time I hear Brook Benton sing this...I think of Stan and miss him again.

My favorite aunt's name was Georgia and one of her daughters use to jokingly sing this song to her. I´ve lived in Atlanta-Georgia as well for one amazing year. amazing experience, this song brings back wonderful memories as well.
Song reminds me of jukebox that I played many of times in Okinawa while in the Marine Corps.
Great song.....sung by an EVEN greater singer.
And his songs in the '50's ...... duets with I believe Dinah Washington. ........ they were classics.
The chemistry between the two cannot be duplicated.

Two days after the twin towers were destroyed in New York I heard someone singing this this song at the LA county fair from a teleprompter. And his eyes were.closed I cried like a baby and I knew what this song was about.Despair. There was nothing I could do to make the hurt go away.I felt helpless. To this day I still tear up when I think about that sad day.
