    Plugin insert Reordering - Pro Tools Update 2023.9
    in the latest update for Pro Tools, Avid have released a bunch of new features.
    One of them is one that has been needed for a long time - since the beginning of the Pro Tools journey - so it's a very welcomed addition.
    Forever, when using Pro Tools, if you wanted to move a plugin to the top insert slot but it was occupied by another plugin, you'd have to shuffle everything down a slot in order to make that happen. Now, it's all changed, you can simply drag the plugin to the slot you want and, if it's occupied, it'll simply shuffle that plugin - and everything else - down one.
    Yes, we're still limited to how many slots you have in general but that's not the end of the world.
    I think many Pro Tools users will agree that this is something that has been needed for a long, long time and will make many people very happy.
    Good work, Avid!

    Amazing! It’s mind-blowing that this wasn’t possible in Pro tools till now!

      Totally agree. It’s something which has been needed for so long (since the beginning).
      Very pleased it’s finally happened though!

      I'm not a pro tools guy but I'm also not Pepsi guy and guess what? I don't hate Pepsi with a passion. They're both thing's I that aren't in my life. That being said.... I expect pro tools to do an absolute 180 a win over more people than they had. With the amount it just got sold for, you can expect a ridiculous amount of research to be done on why they've been loosing ground. From users to data analysts. Why are people angry and frustrated? How do we get them back? How do we get people to switch? .....any little details such as this one, track icons, perhaps a explorer window like Studio one for easy access to plugin's. I'm just guessing but who would spend that much without having a plan....... anyone heard of UFC?

    Finally Pro Tools incorporating things that other DAWs have been doing for the last 10 years at least.
    Way to go Avid.

      yep! pretty embarrassing for them that this is a new "feature" lol

      And no simple "undo" for accidentally dropping a plugin onto another and losing your settings🙄

    • @rishabhbose29

      @@nathanieldahman9268 Yeah man. Worst part is if you delete a Track by any chance, then hitting undo won't bring it back. The undo function doesn't work in this scenario.
      This is super wierd and has always baffled me

      Agree with that, an undo to bring back a deleted track or plugin would be really handy!

      @@JamesArterMusic it would be half way reasonable... how many times have I needed to reinsert a plugin from scratch SMH

    Is there a keyboard sequence that will allow someone to drag a plugin on top of an existing plugin to replace it instead of moving all of them downward?

    • @DLightful
      @DLightful Před 6 měsíci

      I answered my own question.
      Using Shift along with Alt (Windows), you can drag a plugin on top of another plugin. You'll see a colored outline before letting go of the mouse button, amd you'll get a warning about doing a replace.

      Great!
      Although, to replace a plugin, you shouldn’t need any modifier keys, you should just be able to drag on to it.
      Unless it’s slightly different in Windows (I’m on Mac), but didn’t think it was (unless I’m missing something!)

    how to copy a plugins over another plugins in pro tool without moving it down?

    • @JamesArterMusic
      @JamesArterMusic  Před 28 dny

      You do the same thing but when it’s copying over the plugin the plugin you’re copying over will highlight blue around the edges, instead of just above/below it.
