"She talks in her sleep" was actually ad libbed by Sean Connery. Spielberg loved it so much, he not only kept it in, but added several more jokes about it.
Really? how can I like that scene any more?
Fun Fact, the Husky we see inside the Jones house in the beginning of the movie was Indiana, George Lucas’s dog. Indiana served as the inspiration for Chewbacca the Wookie in Star Wars, and of course, the namesake of our favorite archeologist.
At 38:27 that "Random Building" Is the real-life Treasury of the ancient city of Petra.
Still, by far, my favorite Indiana Jones movies!
Me too.
Me too
41:20 the path is already there. Its just an optical illusion as it blends in with the mountain side across the way so it looks invisible.
The whip snapping back and cutting young Indy's chin is to match Harrison Ford's chin scar.
Harrison Ford suggested River Phoenix to play Young Indiana Jones because Harrison considered River similar to him when he has the same age. Both acted together in the movie mosquito coast
You should add that temple in the crescent canyon to your travel bucket list. It is a real place; it’s called Petra. (The exterior shots)
In the early 90's there was a tv show called "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles". It had episodes that featured Indy as either a young boy or young man (played by Sean Patrick Flannery instead of River Phoenix.) The episodes would begin and end with a 93 year-old Indy reminiscing in the present day about his adventures. One episode featured Harrison Ford in a short adventure instead of the old Indy It was created and produced by George Lucas. It only lasted a couple of seasons but four made for tv films were made right afterwards. It was later re-edited and called "The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones". You find out things about Indy's background and family and some backstory to the movies. It was pretty good, might be something you would want to check out sometime.
I used to watch that. 😀
Last Crusade is THE BEST in the trilogy because it's JUST a father & son bonding film solely about the adventure around his father's obsession. And he found illumination, the greatest treasure.
By far my favorite movie in the whole franchise. Story was amazing, highlights the father-son relationship between Indy and Henry, and recaptures the spiritual and adventurous tone of the first film. In the end, realizing their importance to each other was the greatest thing they could obtain. The chemistry between Harrison Ford and Sean Connery was amazing. Steven Spielberg always wanted to direct a James Bond movie, but it instead served as an inspiration for Indiana Jones. For that reason, he was lucky to cast Sean as the father of Indy. Rest in peace Sean!
Great reaction. So much backstory in this movie. "We named the DOG 'Indiana.'"
Dog?! Indiana was named after a dog?!
Love seeing Coby watch these classics! Hope to see her reactions to Band of Brothers in the near future!
"Follow me, I know the way!" at the end has long been a quote in my family lol. Such a fun series. This is the last Indiana Jones movie. You're done now. No more exist.
Couple fun facts , that random building in the desert is an actual famous historical site. But even better, in raiders, the well of the souls part in which the ark is recovered... if you look in 2 different areas at the hyroglyphs, you will see r2d2 and c3po in the glyphs. Thought u might appreciate that speilburg and Lucas throw back to each others movies. They r old friends , so they give a nod in their movies sometimes to each other. Easter eggs , from friend to friend.
Cool. Never knew that with R2 and 3PO.
39:28 The pistol in Donovan's hand that he uses to shoot Jones Sr. is the Walther PPK, the same gun used by James Bond.
I call both of my sons "junior" and neither is named after me, so it is not always the case.
The scene in the “palace” is not a chroma key.
It's a real location.
Like many locations in this film, is in Spain…it is a mansion in Almería.
In reality, many were filmed in Almería and Granada:
the motorcycle chase, from the planes to the car, the seagulls, when they are driving with Salah, the desert (Tabernas desert), etc etc etc
I just commented the same in another video where they put all her 5 reactions of Indy movies together. I think she thought it looked like green screen because of how the actors have an extra artificial lighting on them, which makes them look as if they were shot in a different place (like a soundstage) and not in that courtyard with its natural lighting. It's a secondary effect that used to happen quite often in old movies... Nowadays the usual practice is to just go with natural light and use the same natural light indirectly reflected to the actors as a filler for hard shadows, so the end result looks way more natural. ¡Un saludo desde Murcia!
I’m not sure whether I’m enjoying Coby’s reactions to these movies or simply enjoying just watching Coby herself. 😊
That last location with the building in the cliff, that’s is a real place called Petra. I don’t believe the interior shots were filmed there but the exterior is accurate and real. In hindsight, Indy should have grabbed all the other cups, they’d be worth a bundle.
I’ve read that Steven Spielberg wanted to do a James Bond film. They wouldn’t assign him so he developed Indiana Jones.
I think that it is still time Spielberg able to direct a Bond Movie. He needs to contact daughter of original producer, Cubby Broccoli, Barbara Broccoli. I know that actors who portrayed James Bond are British, but I don't think that it is for the directors.
Yes, but Lucas offered him Indiana Smith
I believe Indiana WAS actually George Lucas' Huskies name. Indiana Jones actually was named after his dog.
I could be wrong, but I don't think I am. 🙂
*edit to say: FIRST!
You are correct. That Huskie is the beginning of this movie is considered as an "Easter Egg" tribute to Lucas' dog, Indiana.
Actually, the dog in the film, as well as Lucas' dog, is a Malamute. Just like a Husky, but larger. Both were named Indiana, so Indy WAS named after the dog, Lucas' dog! And his dog was also the inspiration for Chewbacca.
Short Round and Willie were both named after dogs too. I believe Steven Spielberg's and John Williams'.
'Is that a lion?' I recall seeing that lion back in the day, and going 'mew.' much laughter surrounded me in the audience.
The most illuminating movie of the series and a very enjoyable watch along Coby, look forward to the next one.
Sir Sean Connery was always Steven Spielberg's first choice to play Indiana Jones' father, as an inside joke to say that James Bond is the father of Indiana Jones. If that had failed, Gregory Peck and Jon Pertwee were backup choices for the role. Spielberg had always wanted to do a Bond movie but did Indiana Jones as a James Bond-type character. In keeping with the James Bond theme, the movie has many Bond movie co-stars: John Rhys-Davies, Alison Doody, Julian Glover, Stefan Kalipha, Pat Roach, Eugene Lipinski, Michael Byrne, and Vernon Dobtcheff.
This is one of those rare sequels where the third installment is better than the second.
"Chris Craft"...the girl knows her classic boats!!❤
I can only think of the former NASA Flight Director, Chris Kraft
And she rattled off the ID letters of the biplane like a pilot would, in the radio alphabet. Is she a pilot too?
honestly, I think you're the first reactor i watched who got excited to see River as Young Indiana. And when it came to playing Young Indiana, River said he approached it as he wasn't trying to mimic Harrison Ford the grown adult, but mimic how Harrison would've been as a teenager. Also in 1989 River was 19 :)
there is a series of young indiana jones too. it's called The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles an has 22 episodes of around 90 minutes long. so, basically 22 movies.
22:05.
I was 19 when this came out, saw it in a sold-out theater.
THAT..was the last thing we expected Indy's dad to say! Everyone in the audience pretty much reacted the exact way you did.😆😆.
The Sala character us always one of my favorites. He also played Gimli in Lord of the Rings again he did an awesome job.
Small correction. I think his name was spelled Sallah.
Civilian aircraft registry is indicated internationally by a letter signifying each country specifically. "D" is Germany, "E" is England, "F" is France, "N" is United States etc...that desert location carved into the canyon walls was not a painting or effect. Do a Google for the city of "Petra"
The random building you called it, is Petra in the country of Jordan.
4:08 In 1989, River was... alive.
I laughed when you said you wondered if you’d be as invested in this one as much as the first two. Every time you brought up the hat, I said, just give it a minute. Loved your reaction. I only just found you. I’ll be check out more. Thanks for what you do. May your views and likes always be equal.
Indiana Jones speaks over 27 different languages such as French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Swedish, Greek, Arabic, Turkish, Vietnamese, Swahili, Chinese, along with English.
Great reaction! My anticipation was very high - not because of the movie, but rather waiting for you to hear that the dog's name was Indiana lol!
Yeah. One of the iconic lines in cinematic history.
The best part was Indiana made a cameo appearance in the opening montage. The Husky in the Jones’ house was George Lucas’ dog Indiana, whom Indiana Jones is named after.
The pistol that is used to shoot Sean Connery is the Walther PPK...the famous gun that James Bond uses. Spielberg purposely put that in there for fun to have "James Bond" get shot by his own gun.
Oh cool. Never knew that
Also the weapon of choice for Lupin the Third.
39:23 "Who wants to live forever?" - That's from another Sean Connery movie...
Zardoz
Highlander
😂😅 "he doesn't need the umbrella". 😂😂
Oh just wait 😂
Harrison Ford has a scar on his chin from an accident pre-acting days.
At the beginning of the movie young Indy snaps a whip and cuts his chin. With all the other backstory reveals they threw that in.
Coby: I watch a LOT of reaction channels, and you're definitely one of the best! Keep up the beautiful work letting us re-watch our favorite films as if it's our very first time, yet again, WITH you! :)
My grandpa was named Junior. Not a Jr, but actually Junior.
The culture that built that building into the mountain, the Nabateans, had whole cities in those mountains.. and a lot of their designs were inspired by Greek architecture of that era. Really fascinating history.
The "random building" is in Petra. It's a real place.
During your Raiders reaction video you asked the question "Have we seen Indy riding a horse yet " We hadn't of course but this film reveals that from a young age Indy was riding horses and one can deduce that by the time Raiders came along, he was in fact, an accomplished horseman.
Do you still think the Indy movies invented that jacket & fedora combo? You should go watch Charlton Heston in "Secret of the Incas" (1954), the source of a lot of the Raiders tropes. Partially shot on location in Peru, it's a decent little adventure too. Something else you might enjoy, and one of my all time favorite movies is "The Wind and the Lion" (1975) which stars Sean Connery and a bunch of other famous faces. It's a fun and romantic historical adventure set in 1904 Morocco, with a clever witty script, a great Jerry Goldsmith score, lovely scenery & cinematography, and a portrayal of Teddy Roosevelt that should have won an Oscar for Brian Keith. Written and directed by John Milius.
The "random building in the desert" is Petra.
If you want another great Spielberg film try " Empire Of The Sun ". 🤙🤙🤙
Hilariously Coby has seen every Spielberg film EXCEPT all the Indiana Jones movies! But she also may not remember that one and would likely provide terrific commentary. We will add it to the list.
@@popcornroulettereactions that would be awesome for : Empire Of The Sun !! 🤙🤙🤙
Please Please Please Superman 1978
There were no effects in the part you thought looked green screened. It was just a simple location shoot at a former convent in Spain.
I think what you're seeing is "ringing" from digital sharpening. It's especially thick and awful on DVDs, but it can also come from your TV settings.
It could also be color bleeding from similar issues.
41:15 The path was always there. It's just an optical illusion.
Indiana's Dad is Professor Henry Jones Sr..
Raiders of the Lost Ark 9/10
Temple of Doom 10/10
The Last Crusade 9.5/10
27:32 My Grandmother told me that book burnings were quite common during the late 30's and early 40's...however, if you were "lucky" enough to get Adolph Hitler's signature in the book, it did not have to be burned.
Fun Fact: The fact that Sean Connery and Harrison Ford play father and son is hilarious...considering Connery is only 12 years older.
"You can't leave with the Grail anyway."
I mean, you *could*. It would just be powerless and you'd lose your immortality. It really would be nothing more than a simple clay cup at that point.
As far as I am aware the Grail would still work outside the temple because it obviously worked before it was ever put in there. The Knight just meant that trying to take the Grail out past the seal would activate the final booby trap which was the total collapse of the temple which was expected to kill you.
The dog is Indiana. George had a dog named Indiana that would ride around with him when he was younger. Inspired both Indiana Jones and Chewbacca
Every time you said "Maybe she's ok", I'm actually saying to my monitor "she's a Nazi". LOL
Back when Elsa COULDN'T 🎵Let It Go🎵
Indiana Jones began because they didn’t have rights to do a James Bond movie and Steven Spielberg always wanted to direct one so having Sean Connery in this worked out really well
Personal favourite movie in the Series. I know a number of people like Raiders more and i can fully understand. I just like this 1 a little bit more
I love cobys excitement with the movies takes me back to my childhood
Its an optical illusion. The bridge was always there.
At Disneyland there was a doghouse with the name INDIANA over the door. The doghouse was located between Main Street Station and New Orleans Square--if I remember correctly.

the guy at the beginning that you kept sayin looked like Indiana was actually Harrison's stunt man
I think in that case high temperatures would be more of a concern than lack of oxygen. They are in an air bubble insulated by the water around them, and protected from above by a stone box, so the fire would not consume the oxygen in their tiny chamber...
I don't know about other landscapes, but the beach scene where he uses his umbrella,,, it was a Spanish beach.
That random building in the middle of the canyon really exists, it's part of the ruins of the Nabataean city of Petra, and it's very famous. It's actually a pantheon, if I remember correctly, and it's not very deep, but they used the facade in the film to suggest the entrance to a huge temple or something like that.
Seeing it in first run: close up of the lions; me:'kitty!' many laughs from people in same row.
Love seeing your enjoyment of movies I grew up with thank you
that Jaws mug is awesome.
This was easily my favorite of the series.
Wait until you find out the name of the 'Husky!'...
This is my favourite indy movie personally absolutely love watching it
I like The Last Crusade, but it's my least favorite of the original three. Im in the minority with that statement. The next one, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, has some really great moments, and some not so great moments, but it's a good movie. It's very different from the original three. You just have to accept it for what type of movie it is and you will enjoy it. I thought Shia Lebuf, was great in his role, and the interacting with Indy and the other characters is what makes it a good movie. It gets a lot of hate, but it is a fun, enjoyable movie. After all it's Harrison Ford, and he gives it his all every single time he steps into this role. I look forward to your reaction.
1:22 That's an epic mug.
After seeing you watch the first 2 Indy movies and hearing you remark in both that Indy is basically the American action version of James Bond, I could not WAIT for you to get to this one and see who Indy's father is ^_^
That random building in the canyon is a real historic site in Petra, Jordan. Crazy right
I saw this one like 7 times when it came out in theaters. We lived in Bangkok at the time, and a movie was 25 Baht which was equal to $1.
I love the wooden cup thing. Of course it’s like that. Why would the cup be gold and covered in jewels?
38:25 This temple exists in real life. It is Al Khazneh in Petra, Jordan, an enormous structure built into the side of a stone face that provides a remarkable lens into the past.
Sean Connery was only, like, 12 years older than Harrison Ford... playing his dad :P
The main reason Connery was cast as Indy's dad is because, as James Bond, Bond is the father of Indy. Not in canon, but Spielberg wanted to make a James Bond movie after Close Encounters. He couldn't because the rights belonged to the Broccoli family & EON productions. Spielberg's buddy, George Lucas, was like, "Hey, I have something better than Bond...Indiana Jones."
And so it began...
Not going to lie. That was low key sexy reciting the aviation alphabet
After this one you have " The Crystal Skulls ". And the final one is in theatres June 30th.
Crystal Skull coming NEXT WEEK!
@@popcornroulettereactions awesome !! 😁💀😁
@@popcornroulettereactionsperfect.
No surprise I saw it coming her favorite is the one most people put last in the 3 and the one she puts last is most people's favorite.
No temple of doom was a prequel to raiders. It was I believe 1927.
You get bonus points for knowing about crisscraft speed boats....I suspect your family has some means....mmm There is more to you than just interest in movies ❤
If ever a series is gonna convert someone to adventure films, this is the one. It was fun to see her smiling and laughing so much.
This movie is the exception when it comes to the 3rd movie in a trilogy before the fourth one
Yes white jacket black jacket look in Temple of Doom is supposed to remind pe😢of Sean Connery in Goldfinger
Great review. Last Crusade is my top pick!
Coby, I'm fascinated that you know the air force phonetic alphabet when you you started reading off the tail number of that plane attached to the Zeppelin. Were you in the USAF? BTW, I enjoy your reactions.
The briefcase had the newspaper with the money in it from "Psycho". Miguffin gave it to him.
1:50 - 20:04.
(There are details that are overlooked). 🤔
There's only one man who could play Indiana Jones' Dad and that's James Bond!
A friend's grandfather is german (we are argentinians) and when Adolf showed up he said something on the lines of "well, he looks like him all right"... i never asked...
Miriam is in 4! Shia Lebouf is in 4!😮😮😮
If you play video games, try the Uncharted series. It's very much inspired by Indiana Jones as well as the Mummy series with Brendan Fraser.
Good reaction 😊
Beuatiful reaction.
Oh yeah, you were in sink about the umbrella.
“Definitely get rid of the umbrella.”
Hmmm?????
