Total beast. But if only he had trained for 2 years less, did 100 pushups, situps and squats in addition to a 10km run everyday, he would have been able to beat Meruem in one punch.
He wouldn't because that would defy the purpose of his character. He's a gag character where the joke is that he's inexplicably powerful. There's even a few moments in the web comic that show that he's immune to miscellaneous attacks like that.
hxh far exceeded the boundaries of a Shonen manga. After witnessing the story so far you can tell it is way too unique to be categorized. I guess the real monster is Togashi after all

Rock lee might have been lifting rocks for hours as his training but compared to netero who threw that many punches in the span of 7 hours... It's like a childish accomplishment! Don't go comparing people like rock lee to people like netero, netero would destroy rock lee in seconds, even with 7th gate open! I'm not that much into HXH cuz i didn't really went in as a hard core fan.... I only watch HXH cuz i was waiting for one piece and naruto's new episodes to come out.... But even if I'm more of a naruto fan than a HXH fan comparing someone as strong as netero to rock lee is just stupid and retarded... And I'm not even talking about prime netero I'm talking about old netero! *although if rock lee opened the 8th gate it would be a different story but netero in his prime could take him as a rival but I'm not sure who would win*
I realised that the reason the master guy started crying and said "Lady Guanyin" was because when Netero did his punch at 0:55 ..he could see Netero's 100 type Guanyin manifest in his nen .. we can't actually see it but that's the reason why Netero lights up a Gold color

Ω๓єɢα礪 No, because Meruem is a prrfect organism. Like he said in the fight, all evolution led up to him lol. Even after taking thousands of supersonic hits from netero's 100 arm stance Meruem was just starting to feel dull aches.
You can clearly see Nen restriction/condition structure even in Netero's Guanyn: he needs to focus his nen, take his praying stance, and THEN throw a punch, activating his powerful 100 style. Many would say that Netero's ability is OP. Having a supersonic punch-thrower giant Buddha behind you would indeed look like a totally overpowered ability. In fact, it's not. Or at least, not in the past. Imagine if he had engaged combat with the King right at the start of his 10000 punch training. Guanyn would still have worked, but the time that would have passed between taking the prayer stance and activating his 100 style would have been lethal and utterly ridiculous for a fight at that level (5+ seconds just to throw a single punch, I mean.. - I - am faster than that, imagine a Hunter, or worse, the king). Even the king stated that in combat, unnecessary movements could cost one's life. In fact we can safely say that his 100 style was so powerful because it had a huge and incredibly disadvantageous condition such as to pray before every punch. We can even say that maybe at the start of his training, his 100 style ability (even if not displayed) was one of the worst abilities ever in terms of combat efficiency, like, at all. But then something epic happens. Netero passes the entirety of his time polishing and carving into perfection his move pattern, developing further and further the only restricting key variable he could have worked on: the time of execution. The result? A flawless and supersonic execution, attained by constant repetition throughout entire years. He had made up for his ability's biggest weakness by passing long and excruciating years of extremely harsh training and self denial, transforming his ability from being completely combat-useless to an unbelievable destructive and battle-efficient combo of epicness. You can read in between the lines here: it was not his 100 style to be OP. Netero himself was.
Man, i watched this episode today for the first time in my life. I'm just in love with HxH. One of my favorite anime of all time!!! I hope so badly that one day this anime will continue!
From what Morel said though, Netero was past his prime. So in the six decades between this and where he is now, I'm curious how strong he was when he was this physically fit but at peak nen.
A Certain Unlucky Touma Yea and im curious about how strong Meruem would be if he wasn't only a week old. Imagine if he actually experienced fighting and stuff.
I mean you're right. But it's not like Meruem wasn't knowledgeable about fighting, he was fully developed and a master tactician at birth. The only way he really could have gotten stronger would be to develop some nen abilities.
A Certain Unlucky Touma exactly. You know how valuable nen abilities can be? Netero wouldn't of even gotten closed to killing Meruem without using his nen abilities. And Meruem was truly smart but he didn't really know anything about fighting. Just punching and kicking basically. Not once through their fight did he stop and think about a strategy. He was just rushing every chance he got.
I'm well aware of how strong nen abilities are. That said Meruem was thinking through the entire fight, he analyzed Netero's attack patterns and came up with strategies that would allow him to bypass Netero's near impregnable defense. If you thought he was fighting blind you should watch how every action he took had a meaning in that fight, Netero was just that fast and that skilled to repel him.
This basically happened when Zeno himself was still a baby. Netero fought Zeno's grandfather and lived to tell the tale. Maha Zoldyck is currently the most dangerous Zoldyck assassin, and quite possibly the most dangerous Nen user still alive.
Anime GOD At this rate Togashi needs to write down an outline detailing the rest of the manga and have someone else on his team write it then have someone do a prequel manga focusing on Netero and showing what made the Zoldyck's become assassin's as well as how Powerful Zeno and Netero were in their prime.
For those wondering about the dojo master's words, Lady Guanyin is a Bodhisattva: someone who, according to Buddhist tradition, is extremely spiritually elevated and on the road to become a Buddha themselves, revered only less so that the Buddha himself. Guanyin is considered to be the Bodhisattva of compassion, which is so in line with Netero's character and ability, so it's natural that he sort of "summons" her. Netero himself parallels Buddha's story, slightly. As the legend goes, after meditating under a tree by himself for over 40 days, Buddha reached enlightenment. When he returned to talk to other monks and revealed his discoveries, they were in awe of the godlike level of wisdom he had achieved. This scene seems to be a bit of a reference to that tale.
Man I did his horse stance punching routine in a heated yoga room alone and it was challenging, I did 50 punches take a 10 second break and continue. I only did it for 30 mins and the heat slowly started getting to me, next time I have to have mental clarity and relax.
All these characters look so boring and cliches at first glance then when you actually watch the show turn out to be the biggest badasses in anime history.
Speed is Netero's real strength. You can tell in his fight with the King. "His fists were faster then sound" Is a poor description of his ability in that fight. He could move about as close to instantaneous as a human could possibly even understand. It even took the King ages to just *notice* his movements.
not ages, just endured a thousands of punches to see even the slightest openings there has. And he even didnt have the intention to kill Netero, he just wants to make netero give up and tell whats his name. And dont forget that he won using only his intelligence and speed(with his experiences at gungi) to defeat Netero without using any nen ability, cause he doesnt really have any. Prime netero could put up a fight and make meruem feel a pain within a thousand punches but its only a matter of time for Meruem to know how to counter budhissattva.
"Hey guys, I'm back. Just went outside to throw punches for 5 years."

When you already destroyed elden ring but go back to waypoint ruins to check out some new abilities u acquired
This may be my favourite moment in the anime.
Back problems affect you in more ways than just pain. Everyone needs to understand this.
Old men in anime are the best, they're super dope and chill, but still relatable
The need for power and a worthy adversary to push him to the limit. Has left thousands dead. Netero has killed more than anyone in series.
this is Savage 3 million views for almost 2 mins without a fight scene got dammit ! savage x savage
The dojo sensei actually noticed the time compression. He was probably on neteros level before neteros insane training
netero became so good he did break the sound barrier.
The karate master must have seen the 100 type lady guaninegudisatva. He was the only one who saw it when he punched after developing it.
Imagine if the hyperbolic time chamber existed in hunter x hunter and netero did all those punches in there.
"I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times." --Bruce Lee.
Netero is that man.
Young netero is chad asf
most inspirational scene ever
I wanted to keep listening to the song at the end...

Love this anime they should fucking continue it
Lun Hing they have no content to work with, cause the author keeps putting it on hiatus
fuck me every time i see Netero's name I always think of the word netorare probably watching too much hentai this genre giving me nightmares.
Nakiri Alice dammmn I think you're not lying, a girl or a boy?
One of my favourite genres tbh. Especially if they contain those beautiful ahegaos and fat ugly fuckers.
Such a powerful scene
I wanna watch a series about Netero's backstory. Would be really interesting
His steps In the beginning sound like hitmarkers
Chills everytime I watch this
never gets old love this scene
Man I did his horse stance punching routine in a heated yoga room alone and it was challenging, I did 50 punches take a 10 second break and continue. I only did it for 30 mins and the heat slowly started getting to me, next time I have to have mental clarity and relax.
All these characters look so boring and cliches at first glance then when you actually watch the show turn out to be the biggest badasses in anime history.
Mohammad M someone never watched Fist of the North Star
音を置き去りにする会長すげぇ
Rest in peace.
Netero using Ultra instinct before it was cool
ONE PUNCH NETERO!
This is the first thing i see about hunter x hunter... and *THIS IS DOPE*
What if you learned the wrong punch the entire time? Came back after 5 years for the master to laugh at you for incorrect form.
Speed is Netero's real strength. You can tell in his fight with the King. "His fists were faster then sound" Is a poor description of his ability in that fight. He could move about as close to instantaneous as a human could possibly even understand. It even took the King ages to just *notice* his movements.
Rymael Xynn So, he is faster than sound...
not ages, just endured a thousands of punches to see even the slightest openings there has.
What's the name of the song that plays once he does the punch?
six decades of battle experience on top of that
Me pone la piel chinita
シバターみたいで草
Who else cried when Mereum died?
Aries Fincher everyone my friend internally and externally
Aries Fincher I was so happy.
Aries Fincher no one everyone hates that shit
Love this scene
Netero learned the speed of sound punch in order to get free food for life.
