I am someone who wouldn't mind supporting England if they had respectful British media and English fans, of other countries. But no they are too arrogant and too proud with a superiority complex to other nations to do that. They abuse by England's fans of a young innocent German fan who travelled from Germany to see her favourite team play was absolute last straw for me I will never support England ever again. Their media and fans are the worst in the world.. In a way its a shame because generally speaking England managers and players have been on the whole good blokes shame about their appaling fans and British media that pumps England up every major tournament like they are the best thing since slices bread. @@lg24s58 As if England's team haven't been so disrespectful and unsportsmanlike. They continued for weeks to say "it's coming home it's coming home" convinced they were going to win 100% and when they lost they even took off 2nd place medal. No other teams actually did that disrespectful thing.
It's just that English people are so convinced of their superiority on other countries that they can't accept they lost to a nation that is "inferior" to them. Also after Italy won the Olympic 4×100 and England arrived 2nd, English media showed the arrogance of a whole country

Americans hate European soccer/football. Ridiculously low scoring, uneventful and boring. Italy won both the semi-final and final on penalty kicks because the semi-final and final ended up a boring yet predictable 1-1 draws. Penalty kicks are for girls. Grown men don't play penalty kicks - they play as long as they have to - as many overtime periods as necessary - to win the game. Penalty kicks is like flipping a coin.

My grandma remember very well when they got freed by nazis and that the first soldiers they saw, even befor americans, were scottish. She told me numerous times there were voices about a liberation army coming to the city, and they waited in the streets after the last SS groups fled, and at first they listen a strange music and only after they saw all those men in 'skirts' with bagpipes. She remember all italians to be fascinated and grateful, and also joyful because scottish seemed strong, disciplined, but they were playing that music all the time (reassuring especially for kids), and those soldiers were friendly even if they stayed by themselves most of the time and weren't allowed to room around.

Florence, Italy, is home to modern football. Played by gentlemen of "good report" in an environment where decorum was cared after. Which is hardly the case for Wembley Stadium. Respect to Italy and Scotland.
