Any one who has ever worked in this trade and fitted clutches on your back knows how physical this is, gear boxes can weigh 30 kg upwards not to mention the weight of your head and holding a crunch for a couple of 3 hours, good work Kevin, love the mobile lift 👍
Very true .. it helps massively to have everything within hand reach. Saves quite a bit of time. Thank you for the feedback 🍻🍻🍻
This guy here is a real trooper he can do clutches on any vehicle and he does it on the floor 😮. I could never do it on the floor as I'm use to a ramp😅😂 but all the love and respect
Today i change the clutch on a 4x4 dacia duster. Best greetings from Germany. Its just relax to see your videos, it makes me calm 😊
I have never had a better car mechanic in my 50 years, even extreme operation without a lift, my great respect, greetings from Germany
Kevin ur a hard worker mate, great role model for the younger ones.I just did my clutch inspired by ur vids ❤
Really I times it 2 x, and I watched all of it all and really can’t stress enough. Can’t emphasise enough how you do it in the way you do it it’s above and beyond another class hats off ❤
This is the ultimate Mechanic. Never seen a man work so hard. You need to be in a movie as a super-figure of cars.
Dude you’re a machine 🦾🦾 even in the pissing 🌧️🌧️. Hats off pal
I've just finished watching your upload always a great watch appreciate it as always have a great weekend Kevin 👍

Another amazing video Kevin, thank you so much!! You are an absolute genius & a very hardworking man!! Best wishes to you & your family my friend 😊👍🍺
This is what pisses me off about people my age now. They complain about having to work etc, I like to think I work hard on vehicles and in the motor trade when needed. This is proper graft. No fucking messing. But you try and find me a few other people like this guy who will sit on their back in the pouring rain, lifting gear boxes all day.. your an absolute fucking machine dude. Hats off 🎉
I’ve done 2 clutches following kevs videos now and it always amazes me how easy he always makes it look getting the gearbox back in 😂
I hit my thumb with a hammer when trying to get an axle out on an A1 and a week on it’s still sore. God knows how Kev does it!
…nice mastery….! congratulations !
You make this chore of a job look effortless.
Excellent video as usual Kevin 👌 🍺🍺
just watched up to the green Corsa at the mo learned a little trick of putting impact socket in between subframe and body to help allow remove gearbox good job you didnt stall in reverse near that electric gate lol
Salute to you my bro 😎
Always n forever
Great work!
Again, your work ethic is superb. Always enjoy your uploads thank you
always reminds me of laying on my back in 1970's changing the clutch on my fathers Ford Escort estate in bright yellow... oh the days of my youth
Currently have a Fiesta ST with original clutch on 150,000 miles. No bull either. Had it on 40,000 miles and only used on long work journeys, hardly any city/town work. Good job we're not all like that, you'd be out of work x@@WMCS
Great work Kevin, you make it look easy. That Kia looked a bit unstable mind - take care.
KIA is learning how to make life a little bit harder from the baguette makers .. lol 😂
Good job 👍
Saludos bendiciones excelente semana todo muy bien y mucho trabajo Pilas 👍

Great work, but I'd definitely get more solid axle stands 😅
Ohh this is good, keep up the good work, like, shared, connected already done here now.

Ahoj. Tomu co ty umíš, se říká dar od Pána Boha. Well done, master. ❤❤
Mans neck muscles must be bulletproof
Kawał dobrej i fachowej roboty to jest to.
You made that look easy and it isn't people slag of milwaukee I've got the m18 nut gun and think it's unbeatable be good to see what the new ones like with the lights on the front and new battery 👍
They’re the best in the business in impact gun. I wouldn’t rate their ratchet on longevity tho.
Hi Kevin ,
Another great video!! You must clock up some miles, and I reckon changed a few clutches on that van your driving
I own a Passat and mentioned it making a rumble noise when depressing the clutch pedal , I thought it was the release bearing
But you said it sounded like the DM flywheel !!
You were right Kevin 😭 it had seized and the mechanic had to cut it off
I've got it sorted and it's running great now
I'm looking to get the Timing belt and water pump changed next
I was recommended getting a INA Timing belt ? What would you recommend Kevin
I always thought Gates timing belts were good quality
Cheers Kevin stay safe and keep those videos coming 👍👍
Glad it’s to hear it’s sorted. INA definitely makes good quality belt. I believe they use a higher than normal ratio of Kevlar and polyurethane than other brands.
bros got eyes on his hands where ever he points the ratchet there's bound to be a bolt there lol top mechanic
Que bien que ahi en ese pais se usan mucho las transmisiones manuales, aqui en Mexico y en estados Unidos ya es muy poco comun la transmision manual, la gran mayoria son automaticas y mas dificiles de reparar
Good work for me
Hi kevin. Do use any particular floor matt as it seems to last well. How do find those hydraulic lifts.
Big big big big quality that there’s no phones no messing around on distractions no music and none of that is just pure pure pure hundred percent work Foucs dedication determination and just focus onwards tunnel vision you know absolute amazing❤
So the as rabbit or guinea pig sticks there middle claw up at yuh while doin the bmw, cause they cant reach there h20,😂😂 .
Yet another brilliant weeks worth of content pal..
Do you ever get nervous in certain locations leaving your van doors open mr..
😂😂😂.. I realised the error at the end and did turn it correct side .. and the rabbit instantly came for a drink 🥃
bravo👍👍👍
Hamster will have to do a hand-stand to get a drink !?! (lol @ 1:09 hrs)
😂😂😂🍻🍻.. you spotted that. I did go back at the end and turn it correct side down.
What do you do if you unscrew a ball joint and when you turn the nut the ball joint rotates?
Put the jack under lower suspension arm and push pressure on it. Its colindrical shape locks it back in with pressure.
Milwaukee forever! I remember when u didn't have enough tools. Today it is a piece of cake for u but it looks easy all this steps but it is not. It is a lot of work and when u start u can get in panic if u don't know what to do. Please do not start doing this without studying before. There are lots of risk, specially how to lift the car with those jacks!
Even me personally. It’s never taken for granted that I’m gonna smash a repair.
Every single day I always have a level of respect/fear as I earn my daily bread.
Nothing is taken for granted. Believe that like you believe Christ.
Some nasty cut in the tyre on that green corsa. Hope they change that out fast and doesent run on it until a serious accident accure.
One question, what desides what clutch set you put on the diffrent brands of cars. Is it price range from customer choise or is it as with heavy machinery clients, strictly whats avaliable at the moment to keep the machine running as fast as possible.
Why I ask is when you changed from LuK clutch to Valeo for more strength in the clutch I always thought LuK was prefered. The pro sets I guess it´s just more parts included then the no pro sets. In Sweden they more or less always puch for Sacs or LuK. I went for Valeo as it was the brand original put in my daughters Renault Megane. But kind of felt it was a bit flimsy and thin.
Hope you have and had a great time off this weekend.
And as always, thank you for your weeks work video.
Regards from Sweden.
I always fit what manufacturer recommends. Usually it’s what’s been installed from factory line. The thickness of a friction plate didn’t necessarily mean it’s better. You can have a thick carbon bases plate that’ll wear out in a matter of months. It’s more the content of the plate. Percentage of copper. Or ceramic. Or Kevlar. That’s what determines the quality. And as much as LUK is a well known brand it’s not always the better ones. I rate AISIN and Exedy as the more superior
luk- Mine's a luck and it sounds like a boat motor between each gear when you're letting the clutch out it's been making a noise for 3 years... Are you sure that lock is a good brand?
1:50:18 it’s funny how you just pushed aside on the floor a heavy gearbox😂
Art
Impressive , really . Does anyone know about how long does it take to change a typical clutch like these ? I'm guessing 3 hours . Me personally i would take 10-14 hours for sure :D , as i've never done it (i also don't have the equipment :DD)
Why not also change the transmission, in some cases...? Its more expensive, but the problem might be the gears in the transmission got grinded, the client would go and buy a new transmission, and you could install that one instead
💪🏼
So about the jacking system equipment you have is a Viking series 3?!!? Tonne
That’s correct. I’ve ordered a Viking 4 tonne to see if it’s a bit better. But this one is the 3 tonne low entry.
Wow this video was recommended to me out of nowhere. It's therapeutic to watch you do clutch jobs! Something I've always been curious about. If you have an impact wrench, why not just use that at the lowest/slowest setting for removing bolts instead of having a power ratchet? Surely at the slowest setting, it'd be weak enough not to damage anything?
Thanks for the sub. It all depends how much room the tool will squeeze in. What you’re seeing are very confined spaces in real life.
Any chance of showing the mileages? Also do you always replace the dmfs? Some of them can be pretty expensive.
Hey mate
Love your videos! What's easier do you think. Clutch replacement on rear wheel or front wheel drive?
It depends on the vehicle’s manufacturer. Some RWD are complete nightmareS whilst some others are well laid out. Same goes for the FWD
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
When you have a car with a dual mass flywheel, how do you approach the customer? Do you recommend they change it regardless of condition? They’re fairly expensive in the states.
Always replace them DMF.. otherwise I don’t take on the repair. But I make sure to explain to the customers the importance of replacing it with the new clutch kit.
Got a question for the top guy Kevin. I'm in process of swapping a gearbox as the diff is completely shot. If the clutch isn't slipping, and isn't down to the rivets then would you reuse it or use a new clutch. I'm stuck between preventive maintenance and saving money 😁
I wouldn’t personally go the length and not cross the line.
I mean you’ve pretty much got the iron in the fire.
@WMCS thanks for the advice. Makes sense to stick a new one in 🙂
👌👌👌
😊👍
Does rust not get in your eyes when your underneath undoing bolts etc?
On the rare occasions yes. The trick is to never try and get it out. Or rub it out.
Which type Quickjack is it ?
but can you get a mercedes A w169 it would be interesting, you are the best
Going to do the clutch and flywheel on the wife's Nissan Qashqai 1.5d. Any preference between Luk, Valeo and Sachs?
For definite a Valeo clutch kit
Check channel’s playlist for a full repair guide.
@@WMCS Really appreciate the fast response to my question - thank you! Already watched a number of your excellent videos, liked, and subscribed.
@WMCS - question for you. I have the clutch and flywheel replaced and gearbox back on (Nissan Qashqai J11 1.5d). I haven't started it yet but when I'm sitting in the car the clutch seems quite light to push, and the gears change easily even without pressing the clutch - is this normal? I did read something about flywheels having some sort of retaining pin or glue which releases on first start. No sure if that is it or if I'm missing something. Any advice welcome.
Edit: started the engine (up on jack stands as I'm waiting for new control arms to arrive). Seems to be working fine. Clutch just seems do much lighter than before.....
Looking strong 💪 kev. U been hitting the gym? Or just the gearbox bench press??
🙋♂️🙋♂️🙋♂️
B M W > < 💪💪👨🔧
I notice you only use your lift on rear drive cars. Why is that?
Yeah I get that but wouldn't it also be safer to use it on front wheel drive cars also?
hi ~ good worker~~😆😀
1:26:45 termination 💪🏼
Did an old Ford Focus trans removal and I have never seen such a mess of wiring covering the trans. What a mess ford.
