I have no desire ever to repair a pair of shoes but yet I set here for 30 mins and watch this…Thank you Dan
I was thinking the same, until I realized that, when it comes to boots and leather shoes, it is very wasteful and actually more expensive to keep buying new pairs every 2-3 years. I found that it is cheaper to maintain good shoes in the long term and that good shoes keep looking nice when properly maintained.
I can confirm that having some quality shoes that mould to your feet shape, and are looked after are worth repairing.
My Timberland 'classic' boots are 20 yr old. Dan resoled them with a leather mid-sole (glued and stitched in) and Vibram soles, which can now be replaced by any cobbler. This is sustainable + they feel and look great 😊
@@derzemel I once read that the amount rich people spend on their eg *_John Lobb_* bespoke classic shoes (be still my beating heart) the cost averaged over decades, while not an _economy_ purchase, stacks up well against some nice off-the-peg shoes bought every few years.
People forced through circumstance to buy cheap, shitty shoes get the poorest value - they often fall apart very quickly; if man-made, don't let your feet breathe, and are generally terrible for your gait, posture, joints etc. A pair of hand-made, bespoke shoes are a thing of podal beauty! 👞👞
@@221b-Maker-Street Yeah, but give me Gaziano & Girling over John Lobb any day.
You don't need to announce to everyone when you watch a video
Tring takes me back to retrospectives when historic times people would repair clobbers. I'm watching this in 2023, which makes me go back in time! The process looks ancient and so does the machines.
Oh Dan, I know I shouldn't but I had a fit of the giggles when you said 'keep your hard on away from children'! Great job of course.
Just good advice!
@@Dan_the_cobbler And of course, when you need to get rid of your hard on, there's jerk off.
🤣 Dan and his Quips.
I giggle like a 5 years old everytime I hear "Jerk-off Stripper" ...🤭
Same here Humboldt it will go very well with Jerkoff product 👣👣
Pleasure to watch an actual high end craftsman at work in this so called modern age of seeing any skilled workers at all. Sole and heel looks so good it's a shame someone is going to walk on them? Wish you all the best in your business Dan.
Agree. A pleasure to watch quality craftsmanship
Why didn’t i find this channel sooner? I always loved when i was a kid in my grandfather’s shop, and later that he taught me how to work on shoes. I couldn’t take over his shop sadly. But it really brings back great memories.
Whistling Robin Hood as you work! Classic
The smell of the Cobblers shop just came back to me (as a kid in the 60's) leather & glue☺ You could never see over the counter as it was so high, it was a big mystery😁
Why have you been hiding that beautiful young lady. She brightens up your shop.
I have no idea why I've ended up watching a man repair shoes..
Just subscribed and spent the last 2 hours watching more of your videos..
Great content. And surprisingly interesting..
The owner of those boots is going to love them like never before...
Hard on and Jerk off, leads to “let’s get sticky”. Great job as always . It’s funny cause I never thought I would be watching endless videos of a cobbler. Your content is very entertaining. Keep up the good work!
don't forget the bottom filler!
2 videos in one evening 🤗
Many years ago, here in Adelaide (South Australia) there was a local boot maker (Arthur Rossiter) who made Me a Custom pair of Black ‘Army styled’ G.P. (General Purpose) Boots.
These boots were so comfortable that I took the boots back, every time the needed a new sole and or a new heel.
Eventually Arthur retired and I had to retire those boots from frequent use, but I still kept a hold of them for many years afterwards.
Best most comfortable pair of G.P. Boots I ever owned.
I never knew that watching shoes repairs could be so satisfying.
Fantastic work as usual. Got me laughing at 22:40 in the video with “of course we have to heel the nail block on” 😂
Haha yes well spotted I had to re watch that a few times until I realised what I'd said! It's not always easy this speaking to the camera stuff!
Watching Dan go about his work has a therapeutic effect on me of sorts.
Greetings from Tombstone Arizona cowboy! 🤠 Fantastic and beautiful! Boots were great too! 😂 Annabelle is one "foxy lady!" 🥰
From a pair of charity shop shoes to a pair of seriously sexy shoes!! Absolute artisan you are Dan. Perfect job!!!!
Thanks appreciate it!
Crackin’ job as always, laughed out loud at the Hard On. And, always a pleasure to see the lovely Annabelle. Cheers 👍🏽🙂
Yes, some candy for the rest of us and what a lovely nature she has.
Absolutely stunning work. Thanks for the show, Dan!
Looks wonderful, Dan. Amazing as usual.
Always amazing as usual! Inspiring to appreciate things and to keep them in good shape by proper maintenance for the long run! 🙏💕
Really great finish on those boots - I particularly liked the heel block finish. Thanks for another video.
Amazing job as always Dan . Great looking boot love the one piece leather upper 👌
Great to see Ron supervising things @16:10!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😘😘😘
Thanks so much Michael!
Nice work and you are a respected person and you deserve all the best
Your repairs always blow me away. Giving boots a new chance at life
Those boots are about AUD$650 these days. I often stare at them through the shop window. Those were a lucky find at the Salvo shop. You did a nice job restoring them.
They are worth every cent because they last for 20+ years. I have 4 pairs of craftmans, brown, black, chocolate suede and chestnut. 25 years old, 18, 11 and 6. And having 4 pairs to rotate, they don’t get smashed so the oldest are the only pair that have had a full resole and heal done.
38 next month and I'm laughing my ass off at double entendres 🤣. Glad I came back to the channel
I could watch you work all day. If I wasn't 57 years old I would love to do a apprenticeship
That red and white stitch is very cool. Quality work as always 👌
A true craftsman. A dying breed.
Absolutely beautiful. Incredible work.
Salut, super travail j’adore !
Merci de partager ta passion avec nous.
Continue c’est super ce que tu fais.
The Hard On commercial had me in stitches...I'll get my coat.
great job. Looking forward to part 2.
RMWilliams - Iconic Ozzie boots - great to see top shelf skills being continued and shared. Didn't realise you'd need to work out so much to be a cobbler.
Watching a craftsperson do their thing is so entertaining. i need to try this service one day
Great job restoring those shoes. They look great! My daughter lives in AU (I'm in the US) and she bought me an R.M. Williams billfold. It's a quality product.
Great boots and a great repair Dan 👍
Hi Dan. Watching you work is one excellent experience. Those boots have a new lease on life. OH, I noticed that Ron was there making sure everything went smoothly. You are always on top of the new products like Hard On. Keep it up Dan! Looking forward to the next fix. And BTW, love your shop. It is beautiful. J
GORGEOUS job!
Love the glue is called hard on and the remover is called jerk off. It kills me everytime
I love how you’re always whistling Robin Hood. The bestest Disney movie!
i love your work mate,i love my shoses and boots they cost money but i have them for years, and they never go out of style.
I'm not a shoe guy at all - although my one pair of dress shoes are RM Williams boots -- but this was really fascinating. I love seeing a craftsman at work! Well done.
Awesome job Dan!
What an amazing job. Just awesome 👍
One of your best Dan.
As always your cork doesn't disappoint!
Yikes... please don't use red stitching on my RM's if ever I send them for repair. Call me traditional lol!!! I've had them re-soled a couple of times over the years, but I bet they weren't re-corked. I love watching your videos... pure class craftsmanship
I enjoy the music as you work. Very Classy! EDIT - Gosh the threads really set off the look. And they look gorgeous!
annabell is so dang cute!!! UGH!!! Also thanks for the vid! ^_^ Those shoes look smart as hell!
Love your work. Great attention to detail.
Great job as always
Who knew that shoe repair had so much innuendo? Jerk-off glue remover and Hard-on glue. Makes perfect sense.
They looked great Good job particularly the black piece under the instep Very neat 👍👍
Brilliant!!!!!
So basically what i got from this video on top of a fantastic boot redesign and repair is to loosen up the Hard On you have to use the Jerk Off , love your vids ..
😂😂😂
Nice to see a new video Dan top work as always mate
Spectacular work bravo
I really appreciate the positivity
Perfect!
Wow.. This is a great video. Quality!
Welcome back Dan 😄
Lucky for you, my fame extends only about 30 feet past my front door...and maybe down to the local sheriff station, but THAT'S IT! I promise. What I appreciate the most about this particular video is how a small business' day is rarely just calm and quiet.
I really like how the Vibram turned out, great look.
Phew, I'm only 9 minutes in and and after hearing what he is going to do, I thought it was going to look like Frankenstein's Shoe - glad it worked out!
Great video another amazing job.
lovely work.
"Without further adieu" 😆 Great videos Dan.
Good job!
Glad you corrected Annabelle :p
Beautiful and the boots too 🤩💪
The cream you use n the uppers is really great stuff I have some old shoes that cleaned up really nicety it filled in the areas were the dye was going lighter.
Nice job!
I like that vintage motorcycle helmet - that thing screams 70's!! Nice refurb, Dan!! Those things came back to life!! Cheers!
Thanks man
I wish I was. But I been following you for about a year now. Great content sir
Very nice work 👍👍👍👍👍
This man deserves a Hard On sponsorship
yaaay a Dan upload
Also enjoyed the Annabelle cameo, I'm glad you have help in the shop
After long days in the studio with no windows, the last thing I want to do is listen to music... I love watching these, proper escapism. Spotted AC/DC this time...keep them coming :P
From Mauritania respect for you
Keep up the good work
Thanks for another great video :)
omg the glue gag XD
Great repair job, and fantastic content. but my mind did get carried away with the tin of "hard on" and your comment..... Love it, keep up the great work.
Always do a little dance to the intro music😂 keep up the awesome work! 🤘
I’ve had around 10 pairs of rm’s over the years. They are proper boots and worth restoring. Comfortable as any shoes I’ve ever worn. Had one pair for over 14 years until they were retired.
One of my pairs is nearly 40 years old. I get them re-soled and re-gusseted by RM's whenever they need it. The uppers are still in great condition.
@@jrh_engineer Got a pair in sydney 1990, they look better after a few years.
Hey Dan,
I love to watch you doing your work and specially seeing you loving what you do! 👍
And I’m kind of ashamed, bc I’m falling to sleep watching it. 🫣 - your voice is so nice, dark and seems to be kind of familiar to me. I can’t help me getting tired an falling in sleep.
It really does not mean that your content is boring!!
Love your videos! - go on!
Paul from Germany 🫶
I always whistle that song from Robin Hood while I work too :D
I want to see much more Annabel. 🙂
Hey Dan! You ever thought about taking up golf club repair as a hobby? You have all the equipment and requisite skill to be a master club builder and grinder!
Great job Sir.
I enjoyed your videos.
Love from pakistan
Keep uploading new videos.
Those are nice-looking all-purpose boots.
Given the high prices of Italian shoes these days, a good restoration makes good sense to renew a pair of expensive shoes that create another rubbish in the landfill. The challenge is finding a skilled and passionate cobbler who can do a great restoration.
I am 💀💀 over the new glue product. I absolutely laughed like a 12 year old 🤣🤣 fabulous repair
Please do more!
Very very nice
Hey, you passed 250; that’s great Dan!
That hard on glue advertising was hilarious 😂😂😂
Really need to find a restore like yourself . I have a 35yesr old pair of tricker brogue boots need som tlc for sure
