Kyle, I have seen some older units that provided service panels but I guess it just cheaper to build without it and easier to remove huge panels to gain greater access. Of course removing the panels should be easier. Thank you for watching.

7 years later and another well deserved 'Thank You!'. I have the 1101 (electric) model and was getting a 'burning' smell. Full access made testing of components and cleaning out the interior a breeze. FYI it was lint on the coils.

Thanks for uploading this video. When removing and replacing the plastic top, it's easier to do from the rear of the dryer while wearing gloves with rubber grips that are designed for holding slick surfaces
FYI this works for my DLEY1201V. It smelled so bad and I couldn't get the appliance man to come out and see to it so, thanks to you, I just did it myself. There was lint all over the heating element! It's a wonder it didn't catch on fire!!!😱 Thank you so much for making this video and for being so detailed! I could not have figured it out on my own. I was just too afraid of breaking something. @Maritza McKinney I was able to clean mine so I didn't have to replace it so I'm not 100 on whether the drum has to come out to remove the heating element. Honestly tho, I think if you're careful and have small enough hands you could replace it without having to remove the drum. I waited until my husband was at work and did the whole job myself from start to finish. There were some pretty tight spots I know my husband would never have been able to reach with his man paws if he had done it. Honestly, it wasn't hard. I believe you can do it with a fair amount of ease. Good luck🙂
Great video on a model that is hard to find information on. I almost gave up repairing ours until I finally found a blown thermal fuse located on the back side of the vent tube behind the lint screen. Thank you very much!
Great video. I repaired my dryer largely thanks to your video. For removing that first cover, I usd a pair of rubber gloves. That gave me the grip I needed to slide the panel back.

Thanks for posting, I have the same dryer and started to get burning smell during use. Took apart and found a screw missing on the metal housing for the blower. That caused lint to build near the burner assembly and led to the smell. Lucky it didn’t catch fire before we found it.

Thank you sir for posting the video!! I had to replace a light bulb inside the dryer... easy enough one would think. Well not quite. The bulb would not unscrew at all. Then the bulb broke off as I was turning it so hard. I had to get a needle nose pliers to put in the socket to turn the base out. Unfortunately there wasn't much room so I had to maneuverer the housing around to get the pliers at an angle to get in the socket. I was then able to get the base of the bulb out. When moving the housing back into place the wiring on back of the socket came loose... hence me watching your fantastic video. It was actually very easy to remove the top/s (easier than it looked on the video) as your video made it so simple. I found the wire connector that came off the back of the bulb housing/socket and slid it right back on. Easy. Thank you again for posting your video.
Larry, what a story. A very long time ago I had to replace the bulb on an old Sears or Whirlpool and it was very easy. I think the Samsung I have now uses LED. Sorry for the painful journey but thank you for sharing the experience. Glad this video was helpful.

If all you need to do is get inside the front panel to access gas components, there's NO NEED to disconnect any of the wiring or remove the power box, or pull open the metal underhood. Just flip up the top and lean against the wall, and the front panel can simply be turned outward and rested against the dryer or wall. So many less screws! That said, this video is VERY helpful in getting the top panel off as well as the front door panel. Thank you.

@@cfldriven I did. I like to disassemble dryers to clean out lint buildup on the flame thrower jobber. My old dryer was notorious for this type of build up. I'm happy to report after 3 years of regular use, this dryer had virtually no pass-by of lint into the unreachable parts of the dryer.

You sir at THE MAN!!!!! I have the same dryer but in silver. Started making a loud low vibrating noise. Found a wad of paper that made its way into the blower. Problem solved. 👍👏🎉
After removing the screws from the top lid, notice there is a lip in the middle just in front of "Sensor Dry" label. Wipe it dry/lint free, and you can push against it to slide the lid back.

And we both commented that it appeared that you were navigating as you went and you did so perfectly and saving us from taking the bloody door off and then the front panel. Brilliant! Thanks, the DLEY1201V is identical. If it were not for this video I would have tried going in the back, and would have removed tons of screws and stuff that was not necessary. I could not get a plastic spoon in the crack, but found a Teflon compatible spatula worked well.
I am wondering if we can open the back panel directly without remove the front and drum .... once saw a youtuber had back opened without remove top and front... that will get you access to heating element directly... ... but don't know how.....
The heating igniter and gas controls are on the right bottom front of this unit, not sure how they do it with the electric dryer. Some machines you can remove back panels, but as I recall this unit does not have a removable back side, the cabinet is three sided, the fourth being the removable front. A good place to check diagrams is appliancepartspro.com, I have no affiliation with them.
Our LG dryer has a power but the problem is the drum is not turning around just like it was something got stock I'm not sure if there's a belt to be replace please help us before it was showing in the screen check filter so what we did we really clean the filter and now still not turning around the drum so please help us
Teofila, there is a belt that drives the drum and occasionally they do break. Can you easily spin the drum by hand? If yes probably the broken belt. Problem could also be clothing caught on the edge, worm drum liner, the end bearing failing or motor failure. Depending on your skill and comfort level these can be fixed without a tech although it will require disassembly of the machine, which isn't as bad as it sounds. It basically a metal box with a drum and motor. Of course a qualified tech would be able to diagnose and quickly fix the issue. Best of luck with the project.
Wanted to add, you can use the small pry tool from auto trim kits. Very quickly you can open and remove the plastic cover in seconds with no damage to the plastic cover. The trim pieces can be used in your car or re-sold to keep the trim tool.
Have you ever had to replace the moisture sensor. Is that just two pieces of metal? If so can you not brush them to remove the oxidation to return the conductance?
@@cfldriven thank you for the reply and the video too! Had to open the 1101 model to test all the thermistors. The moisture sensor does not need the tub removed. I did notice there was no conductivity on the sensor bars. Right now till I need or get another set I removed the oxidation and that allowed to reset the machine and now I have heat back to the dryer!
Thank you for the video I am on social security and this will help me out a whole lot. I tried taking it apart but gave up after taking the top off. The easy way to take it off it just to remove the two screws in the back and push down and back comes right apart. Somehow I am pretty sure a rodent got inside the dryer through the vent it was clogged up with lint leaving it open .
There was no rodent inside but the flex pipe smelled like a dead animal there was a-lot of lint inside around the electric heating element and lodged in the corner of the lint trap. I have cleaned it up including removing the heating element to check for rodent up inside of duct that leads to the drum it looked like maybe traces of a mouse up in there by the looks of the debris that came out when I thumped the dryer against the floor to check for a mouse lodged up in the drum

Youre amazing. I wanna give you a foot rub. You deserve it. Lint built up on the bottom and in the tube to the filter. Big pile. Got that cleaned up and also found a quarter that was rubbing that propeller creating a ruffling paper sound for so long. Now its as quiet as when I first bought it. I will say, they didnt make it easy to get the lint off the bottom. I had to bust out my air compressor and blow it all from the sides
Glad this helped you make some money. I always check pockets before running a load as a metal clip put a hole in the washer's water pump. Interesting idea using compressed air, although I prefer to vacuum it out when possible. Thanks for sharing.
I finally got through to LG Technical Engineering - It turns out that although the conversion part, the small brass orifice, has not changed model to model, year to year, the directions accompanying the part no longer are correct with regard to access. The process of removing the covers, back, top, and then front, is totally different and worse, it turned out that even LG engineering did not have up-to-date drawings or instructions. In the field we discovered that manufacturing had made changes to the number of pressure clips that hold the control panel from the top cover. If I had been thinking about it, I should I have video recorded the whole process.
LG on this particular model has way too many pressure clips on the top cover panel. One needs way to much pressure to get it to come lose. I certainly wanted to use a screw driver to pry it out, but knew that would damage the panel. Thank you for the input.
I will say taking off the front panel on on the LG DLE 1101W doesn't work the same way at all, the dryer looks the same but the front panel and bulk head will not come apart to get to the 4 screws that hold the bulk head in place! Any information would be highly appreciated! Help

You sir at THE MAN!!!!! I have the same dryer but in silver. Started making a loud low vibrating noise. Found a wad of paper that made its way into the blower. Problem solved. 👍👏🎉

After removing the screws from the top lid, notice there is a lip in the middle just in front of "Sensor Dry" label. Wipe it dry/lint free, and you can push against it to slide the lid back.

Thanks, the DLEY1201V is identical. If it were not for this video I would have tried going in the back, and would have removed tons of screws and stuff that was not necessary. I could not get a plastic spoon in the crack, but found a Teflon compatible spatula worked well.

I am wondering if we can open the back panel directly without remove the front and drum .... once saw a youtuber had back opened without remove top and front... that will get you access to heating element directly... ... but don't know how.....
The heating igniter and gas controls are on the right bottom front of this unit, not sure how they do it with the electric dryer. Some machines you can remove back panels, but as I recall this unit does not have a removable back side, the cabinet is three sided, the fourth being the removable front. A good place to check diagrams is appliancepartspro.com, I have no affiliation with them.

Our LG dryer has a power but the problem is the drum is not turning around just like it was something got stock I'm not sure if there's a belt to be replace please help us before it was showing in the screen check filter so what we did we really clean the filter and now still not turning around the drum so please help us
Teofila, there is a belt that drives the drum and occasionally they do break. Can you easily spin the drum by hand? If yes probably the broken belt. Problem could also be clothing caught on the edge, worm drum liner, the end bearing failing or motor failure. Depending on your skill and comfort level these can be fixed without a tech although it will require disassembly of the machine, which isn't as bad as it sounds. It basically a metal box with a drum and motor. Of course a qualified tech would be able to diagnose and quickly fix the issue. Best of luck with the project.

Wanted to add, you can use the small pry tool from auto trim kits. Very quickly you can open and remove the plastic cover in seconds with no damage to the plastic cover. The trim pieces can be used in your car or re-sold to keep the trim tool.

Have you ever had to replace the moisture sensor. Is that just two pieces of metal? If so can you not brush them to remove the oxidation to return the conductance?
@@Gurucwd Moisture bars could be coated with residue which you might be able to wipe off. They also could be shorted or broken.
@@cfldriven thank you for the reply and the video too! Had to open the 1101 model to test all the thermistors. The moisture sensor does not need the tub removed. I did notice there was no conductivity on the sensor bars. Right now till I need or get another set I removed the oxidation and that allowed to reset the machine and now I have heat back to the dryer!
@@Gurucwd If you put an ohm meter probes across the moisture bars and wipe with a wet cloth you should see a change, indicating they are working.

Thank you for the video I am on social security and this will help me out a whole lot. I tried taking it apart but gave up after taking the top off. The easy way to take it off it just to remove the two screws in the back and push down and back comes right apart. Somehow I am pretty sure a rodent got inside the dryer through the vent it was clogged up with lint leaving it open .
There was no rodent inside but the flex pipe smelled like a dead animal there was a-lot of lint inside around the electric heating element and lodged in the corner of the lint trap. I have cleaned it up including removing the heating element to check for rodent up inside of duct that leads to the drum it looked like maybe traces of a mouse up in there by the looks of the debris that came out when I thumped the dryer against the floor to check for a mouse lodged up in the drum

Youre amazing. I wanna give you a foot rub. You deserve it. Lint built up on the bottom and in the tube to the filter. Big pile. Got that cleaned up and also found a quarter that was rubbing that propeller creating a ruffling paper sound for so long. Now its as quiet as when I first bought it. I will say, they didnt make it easy to get the lint off the bottom. I had to bust out my air compressor and blow it all from the sides
Glad this helped you make some money. I always check pockets before running a load as a metal clip put a hole in the washer's water pump.
Interesting idea using compressed air, although I prefer to vacuum it out when possible.

I finally got through to LG Technical Engineering - It turns out that although the conversion part, the small brass orifice, has not changed model to model, year to year, the directions accompanying the part no longer are correct with regard to access. The process of removing the covers, back, top, and then front, is totally different and worse, it turned out that even LG engineering did not have up-to-date drawings or instructions. In the field we discovered that manufacturing had made changes to the number of pressure clips that hold the control panel from the top cover.
If I had been thinking about it, I should I have video recorded the whole process.
LG on this particular model has way too many pressure clips on the top cover panel. One needs way to much pressure to get it to come lose. I certainly wanted to use a screw driver to pry it out, but knew that would damage the panel.

I will say taking off the front panel on on the LG DLE 1101W doesn't work the same way at all, the dryer looks the same but the front panel and bulk head will not come apart to get to the 4 screws that hold the bulk head in place! Any information would be highly appreciated! Help

I have the DLE1101W, and it looks similar to this model. Is the thermal fuse located inside of the control box or inside the door panel?
