Goshen Railfanning 1-15-09

A typical amazing morning in Goshen, Indiana on Friday the 15th of Jan. I caught a decent 72 trains in 24 hours, pretty typical these days. Here is a little of the action:
1. At 8:57am CP trackage rights train 36T rolls by the big curve at 9th st near 50mph. I don't know much about the CP trains on this line.
2. 311 is next coming north on the Marion branch from Marion to Elkhart. Today's train is over 100 cars.
3. As 311 continues west at 10mph, hotshot 24M blasts by at 60per. Beautiful!
4. The B23 local works out of Elkhart on weekdays. I'm not sure what all this train works, cuz the only time I ever see it all it does is spend a few hours at the Brunk plant here then head back west to Elkhart. Today she has a lovely old Conrail gp.
5. One of the hottest manifests on the line, 18A is a direct run-through from the UP out of Proviso (or maybe North Platte?). She looks good today with many cars of lumber and reefers, very hott. Lately this train has had traffic from BNSF run-through train 10R tagged onto it. Not this day. It made me kind of excited cuz that must mean they would be running a 10R today right?! Well no, I'm not sure what happened to that traffic this day.
I just recently returned from a trip to Galesburg and am planning another trip to Indiana next week! WeeeeeEE!!!E!EE!

You know when I hear B23's lead power horn I can remember a time (when I close my eyes) of when power like that was in charge of jet trains and the like.
That classic Big Blue sound makes me reclempt :(
