    Thanks Charlie! I love these little instructional videos. Still in Mexico, happily playing - the songbirds here really respond ❤️👍

    Hi Charlie you are really an inspiration maker. I started Native american flute with Bamboos. Your videos guidance are amazing. Thanks so much.

    Hello Charlie, I really appreciate your work, thanks to you I have already created several flutes, currently made of bamboo because I don't have the tools to create them from wood. I am very grateful to you!
    I'm currently making a flute from the key of low D, and for the past week I've been trying to deal with the bottom note jumping an octave too easily. I've really tried everything that can be done on the sound channel. I tried lowering and increasing TSH, decreasing the air gap, increasing it, and probably everything possible. I hope I will find help from you. Regards

      Hey, thanks for your comment here and I'm sorry to hear you're having a difficulty with the low D flute you are making. I'll be glad to help out with it, if you could please contact me through my website we could further communicate there.

    Hey brother! Thank you so much for the inspiration and information you share!
    Just wondering, i sort of feel like sometimes my flutes "main note" and the lowest fingernote makes too long of a jump, not too smooth of a transition between the notes (if that makes sense? ) what am I doing wrong? 🥴
    cheers!

    Charlie,
    First off, I recently purchased a Googol flue from you. It sounds amazing. Really enjoying it. However, following your videos, I have recently tried to make a few NAF’s with some bamboo I have (F# and G fundamental, 7/8” interior diameter) and am having a problem with the fundamental note overblowing to the second octave with very little breath pressure. I have both angled the fetish block as well as put a slight chamfer on at the end of the air track as you have recommended with little improvement. I sent an email to you at your Bluebear email address with some pictures. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

      Hello BlueBeardFlutes, I write from Uruguay and using a translator. I want to ask you... does the length of the flute give the tonality? And what function would the internal diameter fulfill? My PVC flutes have very large finger holes to reach the note. Sorry if I wasn't clear. I don't speak English 🤷‍♂️🤦🏻

    • @BlueBearFlutes
      @BlueBearFlutes  Před 2 lety +1

      @@Danbass34 your English is fine. You can of course message in Spanish or Portuguese or German or French if you like.😄 both the diameter and the length give the flute its tone. It is the cubic displacement that creates the tone.

    Hi, Charlie! Could you give me some advice? I'm trying to make a pvc pipe NAF. It works perfectly until I uncover the last fingering hole (the one closest to my face). It either won't play a sound or will play higher octave. The other holes sound fine. Instead of a bird I use a piece of pipe of larger diameter that I just slid over the track (not sure I named it correctly). I would be greatful if you could help me out with this because otherwise it would be a pretty neat flute.

    • @BlueBearFlutes
      @BlueBearFlutes  Před rokem +2

      Good question. First, I want to be sure that fingering is the -last- one you -uncover- it should also be -first- one you -cover-. Please see this video for fixing fingerings czcams.com/video/EROwTNlwmjE/video.html but BE SURE to check my first part of this message first!

      @@BlueBearFlutes Thank you for such a quick response, I really appreciate it! I've watched that video and now I wonder if my flue is too shallow (about 1 mm in the middle) or if it's because of the curve of the block. Also, I didn't quite get what you meant by that cover-uncover thing. That fingering is always covered unless I want to play the highest note. My flute has five holes so I just open them one by one starting from the furthest one to check if they sound right. That last hole makes sounds in all kinds of octaves except the right one. It seems that my problem is kinda unique because I can't find any mentions of just last hole not playing. It's my second time trying to make a flute and I ran into the same problem twice. It really puzzles me since the first flute I tried to make was a bit different - it had a deeper flue and I filed the inside of the block so it was flat and not curved. Sorry for the long text - this situation is a little bit frustrating for me. But I'm still determined to make a good-sounding flute
