- The System Shock gameplay demo is available right no on Steam but how does this remastered version compare to the Enhanced Edition of the original? We mashed both of them together to make this short but sweet System Shock graphics comparison. Which is also a System Shock gameplay comparison. Isn't that nice.

Rebecca Lansing sounds WAY better in the original version of the game. Her dialogue is more authentic, gripping, sets a scary mood and does not feel contrived for the sake of being a game. Nightdive--this is what made System Shock special, it did not compromise. Please do not turn this into an easy mode game and preserve the feel and spirit of what made it great!
Exactly! They should just use the original audio logs, they're still great.
While I do agree that the dialog so far in the demo sounds right out of a Full Motion Video game for the Sega CD, I think the VA did a decent job. I did like that the original message left more mystery to what was going on.
Don't use the orig files. The original game is still there for you to play. Relax. Listen to this man up here waxin nostalgic. You want people to like the game as much as you, build a time machine big enough to shove in the whole planet.
They did a great job recreating the graphics and I'm aware they're not finished with it yet. But the video makes it quite clear that the remake, at least in this stage, has a very different vibe than the original... will wait and see if it's for better or worse.
The granddaddy of Bioshock!
Something about the music makes the original more charming and gives it more personality.
But it is sooo up beat for its atmosphere.
I wasn't able to play it at the time.. I had 386SX with 4 megs of RAM. I tried, I really tried. I swapped memory to disk to get to 8MB RAM. But it was like one frame took 30s to render or 30SPF :D I played for hours before finally admitting the defeat. This time I'm ready.. 295x2 32GB RAM ;)
the demo looks fantastic - The rendering of atmosphere and light is stunning
THIS IS AMAZING
Wow this is dope. Iwish they did it with the second one too, the controls are very ugly to me.
Something interesting from the original, that you can tell from the part of the video before encountering the first enemy from the original, is that SHODAN would speak every now and again trying to be a ‘pleasant’ and ‘helpful’ A.I., which made things feel much more creepier.
The way her distorted voice just spoke out of nowhere, acting like everything was fine even with mutants and cyborgs parading around, like it was another day in the office, it was just so unsettling that it made the experience all the more immersive with its creepy atmosphere.
NO FUCKING BODY!!!! IN 2016!!! WHERE IS HIS DAMN BODY???
this is what all remakes/remasters should be
My favorite game of all time. Brings back memories. Only thing is I hope they get the same voice actress or similar for Shodan.
I believe they have the original actress for Shodan
good! can't wait. I hope it all finishes. I got SS regular and enhanced edition and couldn't figure out how to make it work properly cause it kept switching my mouse off FPS and into a point and click mode. Said screw it and quit.
It does that on purpose, (press E), it's like the tab key in ss2.
You should give it another go, it's a great game.
I like that the original game has this upbeat wacky music, and then the remake just has silence. It really shows the contrast between how you aproach these types of games in current year vs the 90s
remastered looks great, combat needs more oomph though
I'm fuckn excited to play this :D
always wanted to play system shock but its soo damn old, im glad its getting remade
System Shock 1 was perfect... you cant do it better, especially not with this modern technology. I much prefer to play it on the original CRT monitor and using SoundBlaster 16.
almost reboot or remake omg
i want this game!
Omg I want to play it so bad. Does anyone know if it's going to any consoles? It should be included in the Bioshock collection. That would be perfect.
System Shock (2017) is confirmed to be coming to Xbox One, though it could potentially get a PS4 release too.
But, no, it's not gonna be bundled with Bioshock.
Six_Foot_Turkey_64 Hell yea, that sounds good.
Was this inspiration for Alien Isolation ?
No, Alien was the inspiration to Alien Isolation...
And Jodorowsky's Dune was the inspiration to Alien.
no i meant the gameplay style i know it was inspired as a direct sequel to the first alien movie, just that i saw similar elements from this in alien isolation. again if im wrong then im wrong
Bioshock and Dead Space not Alien Isolation.
The music of the original i had entirely forgotten... it was so bad.
yeah its shit
Why didn't you like it?
Kelis 98
It's just not a good fit for what is being displayed. It's way too 'in your face'
gtafan110010, but it;s good music and fits the game so well. To each their own I guess.
true the game had that..... i won't call it horror but something similar to that, and there is this music that looks like it belongs to some nintendo arcade game
Dude, they put the code next to the door! Why?
This was a brief demo and data logs weren't really implemented to there needed to be another way to communicate what the door code was.
@@SixFootTurkey_ Makes sense
the animation is a bit long
YOu should have also added the original version
It might run like shit, but damn... it's faithful to the original.
1994 version looks better kappa
it needs more colour
it's the style of the game
With all respect to the work put in this remake i really hope that system shock 3 will be nothing like this...
I'm struggling to tell the difference ;)
uhoh
is it on the same engine?
5th
It runs like shit because Unity and the textures are actually laughable in places, HOWEVER. I'm still optimistic.
