@@djwalkerfemaledj It links to your bank account and you spend on it as normal like you would with any card. The money comes out of your account by direct debit a few days later. It's a Mastercard so it is accepted anywhere. I've used it in Spain myself many times.
Good insight. Couple of points/questions. 1. Do you know how the currency exchange compares between currensea and Starling bank atm cash withdrawals? 2. Would you class a cash withdrawal limit £500 per month as one of the cons when compared to first direct that’s limited to £500 a day?
Hi Fran, great video. So when you pay for things in Florida like food, Ubers, souvenir's you dont get charged any fees? When do they charge you the 0.5%? Im going to Greese this year and Florida next year can i use the same card in both countries this year and next year? All so does the card have an expiary date on it? Kind Regards, Gary
Thank you! Yes, you don’t pay any fees and save money compared with using your bank card and even other travel cards. They show you how much you save. I got an email after a recent holiday telling me I had saved £50 which is always good. The 0.5% is to do with the exchange rate and means you get a slightly lower rate with the free card. You still pay no fees for using your card abroad and save a good amount compared with other cards. You can use it in every country and currency. My new card that was issued this year expires in five years time.
Hi fran , will the currensea card work with my current bank which is the cooperative bank, many thanks, great channel and brilliant service, new subscriber
So with this card, I don’t need to change the currency? It’s already linked to my back account,so I can just take this abroad and use it no messing around?
Is this card only for current accounts? I’ve got Barclays rewards card , does the rewards card act same as currensea in relevant to not charging fees abroad?
It works like a normal debit card. Any money you spend comes out of your linked bank account. It’s basically like having an additional debit card for your bank account where you can spend in any currency with good rates and no fees.
I noticed there are 3 options of cards/accounts available, did you opt for the free one? Or would you go for premium/elite options? I only go abroad 3-4 weeks each year
I would go for the essential or the premium. I have the free card which is the essential but the premium does offer a slightly better rate so may be worth paying for if you use it enough.
OK so I'm with Halifax and the charge 50p for each transaction outside the UK. If I was to link that account to my currensea card, would that stop the charges?
I've applied for my card online, it's on the way. I thought I would download the app on my phone. Looking at the app, the options are to apply for the card, but I've already done that, how do I bypass those questions again without having to get another card?
That's great! There should be a way to log in and then you can activate your card. I have the app and it has the option to log in or sign up. Otherwise, you can try asking for help in the app.
Here is my Currensea card link that gives you £10 free when you spend £100 in foreign currency: www.secure.currensea.com/referral/FMXT8U

If you use currensea to shop in UK, does it still charge you 0.5%? Ty
No, I don’t think there is a fee when you spend in pounds.

Yes, exactly. You just use it like you would use your bank’s debit card and it comes out of that account, but with no fees and a good exchange rate.
I got one, i haven't used it yet, but i am going away in three weeks, i shall try it then🤞

I think Currensea only links to current accounts at the moment.
Is this card, they gave an amount of money and what you spend you need to put back monthly?

Do you think it would save me money vs ordering Euro's in cash before travelling?
You usually get a worse exchange rate when you get cash before travelling than when you use a travel card. So it should save you money.
Hey, Is it only £500 a month withdrawals a month? Can you take out £500 one day and then take out another £500 the following day?thanks
Hi Harry, the monthly ATM withdrawal limit is £1500. It is just per transaction that you can withdraw £500 max.
So can you spend for a meal in a restaurant abroad for example please?
Yes, you can. I have used my Currensea card to pay for meals abroad many times.
Thank you ordered one 👍

What about if somebody gets hold of our card and use contacless. Will the money just keep coming out of your account until you stop the card?
You can freeze your card on the app instantly, which will stop it from being used. You can cancel it and order a replacement on the app too.
