NOTE: Time flew by on this episode and I didnt even cover half of what I wouldve liked as well as asking the communities questions, so we might do a second one in the new year. Like this post if you would like to see a 2nd longer interview. The last two sections about crunch and owning your work is so important. I now work at a company with the same mindset, but a lot of other companies could learn a lot from Garrett Young here.
to me, to this day, PGR is the best arcade racing game ever made. It's fun, it has the best physics for the genre, the game modes, just everything. Even capped a 30fps on the X360, has unique visuals and feeling thanks to their game engine. Nothing is static, everything is dynamic. It's just beautiful. I cannot understand why MS (owns the PGR IP and Publishing Rights) can't let us playing the games with our discs. on SeriesX, just using the emulator. No need to re-license the cars and songs, just the liceneses are on the disc. The closing of Bizarre Creations and Evolution Studios is a tragedy for the gaming industry. Such talented people, passionate about the games they made, gone. Even today MS could relaunch PGR between FM and FH, there's no game on the market good as PGR to compete. Driveclub was the last chance.
