Thanks for the episode Hoshang. Way back in 1998, Rimi was a small time model in Kolkata who used to attend cinematography workshops at the Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute of India. She was bit of an upstart, the typical bubbly and immature teenager. No doubt she was good looking and attracted a lot attention from most students. She appeared in a music video featuring singer Palash Sen. The turning point came when she attended one of our workshops by ad filmmaker Bikash Desai in 2000 who gave her the opportunity to come over to Mumbai.
It's not enough to have looks and talent in this movie industry if you refuse to please the bigwigs. In fact, we keep seeing talentless so-called actors on the big screen simply because they do everything to stay in the good books of certain people. OTT has been a boon for many genuine actors and hope Rimi gets her due.
Rimi worked in some of the most successful movies. She has seen more success than most of the Nepo kids we see today. Not to mention, she is also talented. Not many female actresses can do comedy.
Thank you Hoshang Ji for doing this episode with Rimi Ji. She is such a beautiful and very talented actor. She shouldn't be begging producers for roles but in fact producers should be going after her to do their films. I'm glad that she is doing very well now. God bless you Rimi. Kuch bollywood ke actors and actresses jo aaj bhi bote hai ki nepotism jaisa kuch nahi hai bolywood mein.... This is one of the classic prime examples of 'Nepotism'! Bollywood has long had that stupid tendency of type-casting actors into a certain mould.... May be the reason for this is, that they think these actors would do best in these roles only and they will get good money out of their movies... Its all about how much returns the big producers get! But with this, all the potential of a good, aspiring actor is completely destroyed!... Johnny gadddar was such a superb movie of that time! It was way ahead of it's time.... I wish all the best to Rimi sen!.... She's a talented, beautiful and a confident actress.
