Before listening to "Troubles" I suggest you first listen to his spoken story: Chapters 1-8. As you'd expect from his lyrics, his written words are interesting and thought-provoking, as well as harrowing. Most people aren't reacting to these chapters - they're too personal. But Ren wants us, particularly those going through a hard time, to know how he managed to survive, physically and mentally. Then he presents a musical summery of them in the song, "Troubles", because he wants to give hope to those going through dark times: if he can get through such a long period of life-threatening experiences without having his spirit crushed, so can you. As he says, in the Troubles intro section, "I wish I had more stories of hope at the time". The first 7 chapters end with different songs of his, so you can stop before playing them, to save reacting to them for another time.

Very nice reaction! I appreciate you sharing your thougths around your faith and your routines. And for saying a church that doesn't let you be who you are, is not a church you should be in. That seems like a sound way of believing. Ren is smart when he takes a light upbeat melody and puts heavy lyrics into it, it's actually easier to digest that way while still following the message.

You're actually right about that. I was wrong. The word "Christian" appears three times in the New Testament of the Bible: Acts 11:26, Acts 26:28, and 1 Peter 4:16. In all three instances, the term is used in a derogatory way to describe followers of Christ who did not recognize the Roman emperor.

I hope this is a joke comment because a few of those words don't go together. An atheist can not be a fundamentalist as atheism is an answer to a question not a belief system, so fundamentalist makes no sense, essentially you are say you are a "fundamentalist no". militant atheist again not a a thing because it's a answer, now if your where an anti-theist the sure you could be a militant fundamentalist anti-theist, but not an atheist.

In truth people should not have to go to an expensive huge elaborate church in order to receive God. God will accept you in a field of dirt.
That is 100% true. We also need fellowship with other believers.

I do believe man created "god" to cope with understanding the world around them, kind of like Neal Gaiman's American Gods. Who knows what power our minds have at levels we do not understand quite yet.
