    Prometheus was way too deep and slow paced for many Alien fans. They wanted Ripley shooting shooting Xenomorphs with a flamethrower and shouting crowd pleasing lines like "Get away from her, you bitch!" I wanted a straight continuation of the Prometheus story, not a soft reboot of Alien. Anyone that claims the Prometheus script was bad should submit their own screenplay online so we can see what a great script really looks like. We now live in a world filled with losers and trolls who create and contribute absolutely NOTHING to society, yet they constantly criticize the hard work and creativity of others. Critics especially are the lowest form of untalented scum on the planet as they comment on the failure or success of others to make their own living.

      Whine all you want, but I liked the original Prometheus Draft 'ALIEN:Engineers' by Jon Spaihts with the Xeno & it's lifecycle incorporated. I like the ideas of Prometheus, but I fucking hated Damon Lindelof and his horrid rewrite that removed the Xenomorph and it's life cycle, I wanted The Engineers AND The Xenomorph together onscreen, Lindelof is such a shitty hack writer, just malformed Spaihts awesome original.

      Well as an Alien fan, I prefer the original Alien movie over Aliens, I prefer the slow burn horror and that's why I didn't hate Prometheus as much as everyone, but you're right people want to the action horror of Aliens even though that's not what made the series great.

    • @Goblin_Hands
      @Goblin_Hands Před 7 lety +1

      I liked all 4 movies (Alien , Aliens, Prometheus, and Covenant), but just not the same. Alien, and games like Alien Isolation are my favorite. Aliens is also really great too, but it's more of a good finale. Introducing a bunch of hardcore weapons kinda kills it...literally. I don't think expanding Aliens outside of something like Aliens: Infestation ever really works. It starts to lose horror unless you introduce newer threats like Praetorians, Queens, Kings, Empresses, Queen Mothers, and the Alien homeworld. It can only go so far...
      Meanwhile I do like the direction that Prometheus took, and even Alien Covenant (David creating/spreading Xenos, having an evil God complex), but both movies just have really idiotic and unrelatable characters. Alien and basically every other Alien/Sci-fi movie had smarter characters and quarantine procedures. I couldn't even recognise anyone outside of Daniels, the replacement captain, the guy with the cowboy hat, and David/Walter, (and 2 seconds of James Franco, and Shaw's corpse barely if you even count that). I saw a blonde lady, a black lady, and a pile of like 10 bodies. Even in Prometheus I recognized the dumb characters...and even those characters wore helmets on uncharted planets and didn't wander off alone when they knew dangerous Aliens were running about. Plus, Prometheus was more original and really expanded the universe...while Covenant...not so much aside from Neomorphs. Not saying either movie is bad though...but why would they not be wearing helmets or sticking together on uncharted planets when they already did so in Alien and Prometheus (mostly)?

    • @tommy1138
      @tommy1138 Před 7 lety +3

      I was pissed when I wrote that, I've calmed down since. I also watched Prometheus 3D again and saw Covenant a second time this weekend. I just wish we could have had a straight up Prometheus sequel instead of the mix tape called Covenant. With that said, Covenant would have been a great THIRD film in the new Ridley Scott Alien saga after he wrapped up the Prometheus storyline with its own full movie. Covenant feels like a compromise, not a vision.

    Terrible. Ridley doesn't seem to understand what made the first movie so good. He ruined the bizzarre, unearthly space jockey design by making it a guy in a flight suit in Prometheus and now he's robbed the Xenomorph of any mystique by saying a human robot came up with it while tinkering in his lab. Pathetic.

      A bad idea is a bad idea, doesn't matter who came up with it or when. In the movie it looks like a fossilized skeleton and Dallas says as much. Which implies it is not a guy in a suit but rather a bizzarre ancient creature unlike anything on earth. Setting it up as that then revealing it's a bald albino in a flight suit would never be anything but underwhelming.

Clearly the arc revolves around David, which is cool because we typically don't see the arc revolve around the bad guy... I love the back stories on how David engineered the Xeno's.. , similar to Batman Begins, giving the viewer a look into how we got to the future rather than just placing us there.. Keep it interesting, make us think, make us wonder... that's where Prometheus succeeded.. If you want simple shoot em up, go watch Fast n Furious..

    My idea for a third alien/prometheus movie is as follows:
    The engineers are the main characters in the movie and comes to the planet that was in the Prometheus movie.
    There they find Weyland inside the crashed spaceship. They have a blue elixir which they empty all over him and bring him to life.
    In the next part they arrive at the planet from alien covenant and find the other robot(Walter) who is david's twin.The engineers use the blue elixir and repairs him.
    Once awaken the engineers and Weyland get to know all the horrible things that David has done, and weyland says "we have to stop David" .
    They set course for origae. When they arrive,they scans all the planet,and finds the planet is full of hostile organisms except
    on a high mountain where they discover that there are humans inside a cave.
    Inside the cave they meet a herd of children, who tell that when they had lived on the planet for over ten years,
    they began to be attacked by Xenomorphs and all the adults died or were turned into these creatures.
    There were also great giants developed by someone the children calls David.
    The engineers get ready to wipe out all the Xenomorphs that David has created, but the great giants manage to escape with one of the engineers' spaceships.
    The engineers and Weyland hunts the spaceship and manage to force the spaceship down on the planet lv426.Where it start sending a distress signal.
    The engineers return to Origae to find David, but discover that he has escaped.
    In the last part we see David arriving and meeting an unknown alien species
    on a tropical like planet.And that makes the cliffhanger that ends the third movie.

      Ridley Scott only said Fox 20th century doesn't seem to want film the movie that it. why people act like Ridley Scott canceled Blomkamp's Alien 5 and make a drama out of it?

      and because Fox 20th century approved it and allowed him to film it but Ridley Scott has no authority which movie should be filmed or not. Every movie director has to go through Fox 20th century (Suits etc) whatever on they can film a movie based On IP they own or not. even Ridley Scott commented on this on why he didn't work on sequels for Alien was because Fox 20th century didn't approach him on the sequels and hired James Cameron to work on Sequel and other directors.

    Apart from the few scenes where the CGI were a failed attempt I cant grasp the very idea why people don't like to watch a different and unique movie that goes beyond what you would have originally taught it would end up looking like. That's a good thing, if you want to rewatch remakes and the way directors steal ideas and old movies to implement new version in order to reach as many pockets as possible feel free to do so, I don't, but to literally hate the new alien movies is to me beyond my understanding of logic and reason. Are they perfect? No. Are they terrible? Absolutely no.

But then not long after word of Blomkamp's _Alien 5_ reaches out, then Ridley backpedals and says that the Xenomorphs *_would_* be in his film, *_and_* retitling it with the _Alien_ brand. Awfully coincidental, if you ask me. It really sounds like he compromised here.
