BTOB's choreo is more relax than other groups maybe that's why Peniel said that. Aside from their earlier songs, they don't dance that hard anymore and their routines really do have a lot of breaks.
Anyways as an overthinker I kinda envy Peniel's confidence to speak what comes out of his mind.

I mean if dancing doesn't count as an exercise after you've memorized it, won't it be the same with working out? You basically repeat the same sets when working out then it won't be considered as an exercise anymore if you've memorized it already. Cardio exercise is just literally anything that keeps your heart rate up, which is why there is also Zumba and dance aerobics.

I agree with Peniel here haha. I think the more accurate wording may be that dancing is not effective cardio exercise. I’m thinking in terms of idol dance practices too. It’s quick bursts of dynamic movement within about 3 minutes (the length of a song). Then it’s a break to study to moves/footage then practice again. It’s not a steady stream of cardio and most choreo have breaks where the idols just stand there or walk off stage until their part comes on. So even if idols practice for 8 hours, there are still many breaks with varying intensity with no constant. It’s better to just go running or do a sport like boxing for dedicated cardio. It’s also why there are idols who don’t have good cardio/stamina longevity wise. They’re good in spurts but not long distance.

@@julietar4441 dancing IS a sport, but Kpop dances in most cases barely are. They also stated that there are a lot of pauses in the routine so that idols can sing or just to do formation, those are still dancing but within a span of 3 minutes, you won’t get much out of it.
Dance practices also differ between professional dancers and kpop idols. Professional dancers have many different practices to serve different purposes, it can be for stamina, breaking a certain muscle, getting stretch or warmed up, etc but Kpop idols mainly practice for their routines only and the basic trainings are normally done in their training days. So saying kpop dances is not a good way to exercise for idols is nowhere close to denying dancing as a sport.
Btw, sport is not necessarily about the physical side of it, but it emphasises on the competitiveness.

I like your point though I disagree. I think dancing in and of itself is cardio.
I also agree with you though that if you're looking for a cardio workout, it has to be longer than for one song, like a Zumba class which is nonstop dance for 30+ min excluding warmup and cool down.
That said, for idols, my guess is they have to do above average amounts of cardio to build the endurance to perform full out for 3 minutes or to have the stamina for a full concert.

@@justme.11 what you said doesn’t contradict with what I said, and we’re actually on the same page. Dancing can totally be cardio. Kpop idol performances, not so much. That doesn’t mean they don’t do cardio. I bet they all train hard to be able to sing and dance.

Whoever told Peniel that dancing isn't cardio is either someone who can't dance or someone who thinks exercise should be hard and include suffering.
Dancing is done with your body, not your mind. It's muscle memory that takes over when you learn choreo. Dancing is actually harder when you think. It's easier to just copy what you see and refine it as you notice the details.

I'm sorry but I disagree. Try doing a dance class like the ones by good choreographers who do fast and energetic choreos, practice for an hour and you'll feel your heart beating A LOT. That burns a lot of calories too, I could never do that much running but dancing it's okay for me

  • @justme.11
    @justme.11 Před rokem

Who are these people that think dancing isn't cardio??!!!
"Cardio" refers to your heart muscle and anything that engages that muscle is cardio. Like dancing.
Just because your body has gotten used to the movement, doesn't mean it's not cardio.
It means you've increased your endurance. Just like a sprint is easy to someone who runs marathons or 20 lbs is easy to someone who benches 200 lbs.
Both are cardio, both are weightlifting but it depends on what level you're at.
