hii, I'm melon and I'm reacting to dragon ball z abridged for the first time. This is my DBZ abridged episodes 22 and 23 reaction. DBZ was my first anime and holds and special place in my heart:) I already really love this abridged series and am so excited to go on my DBZ abridged reaction journey.

first time watching dbz abridged reaction - Zábava
Tfs always thought it was dumb that the voice actors switched when Ginyu did the body switch so they keep the actors the same and just change the inflection and what not.
I think the general trope when the characters switch bodies but keep the same voices in the other body is stupid/unrealistic. Glad they went that route.

Yeah, came here to say this. The regular TFS actors are still voicing Goku and Ginyu, just imitating each other’s inflections in order to sell the body switch. Makes sense, since switching bodies wouldn’t switch vocal chords or throat shapes lol
It makes more sense this way to me
since they're speaking with each other's body they should be using that voice actor for the body and they'd try to sound like their original character because the mannerisms and speech patterns wouldn't just be relearned

Lol. Anyway yeah. Speech patterns would change and that’s what made this awesome. This was the FIRST time a series I watched ever gave the voice actors the challenge that so many actors have to do. “Act like the other person!” It’s such an old improv skill it’s a wonder voice acting doesn’t employ it.
It doesn't always mean that they die. It means something significant and/or funny happens to them in that episode.
But, in the event that a character DOES die or get wrecked, they always read the intro that episode. Most episodes involve fighting and so, usually, the person reading the intro ends up at least getting emotionally abused.

Yeah, people tell reacters this and its only true like 1/5 times. Like cmon dude, somebody doesnt die literally every single episode. It literally cant be true, but people parrot it anyway.

Goku and Ginyu kept their voices, they just swaped accents.
Being an adult doesn't dictate what you should and shouldn't like. I'm 37 years old. I still like Pokemon as well as other anime and I still play video games. There is no age limit on what you like. Don't let anyone ever tell you that there is.

This is probably my 15 time watching DBZA, but it's awesome to see someone who appreciates DBZ and the work TFS did.

Jeice is my third favorite character! Also, I find it pretty likely that Ginyu’s original body isn’t the one he started with. How many bodies has he swapped…?
There's multiple versions of that theory, but according to a drawing from Toyotaro (the guy that draws the current DBS manga) the horned purple body is at least his second body.
I really like doubling up on abridged episodes, it really flows better.
Also since you asked about this: MasakoX is the VA for Goku and Gohan, and also when Ginyu is in Goku's body. It's pretty much his normal (as in not Goku/Gohan) voice, give or take the acting.
Since the abridged series ended, TFS has been putting out a series of original shorts set in HFIL, and all the Ginyu force are featured. They're seriously funny. The events of this episode are relevant, but I don't want to give any more away.
It’s pretty bullshit that it had to end on a sour note only to avoid copyright… especially since they had 1 saga left and possibly GT and Super.
@@diegosilerio4554 they were burned out and didn't want to do it anymore because they were worried it wouldn't be up to their standards they hold themselves to. Copyright has only a little bit - if anything - to do with it

I also really like Waldolf salad, Ginyu is alright. He did take over bulma's body, but that was non Cannon filler. Much like most of Bulma's scenes on Namek

I don't get it
It's naturally that you'd feel that way, all warm and fuzzy. Right about here is where TFS really starts to show their own passion for the series. They went into the extra effort to make Ginyu's actor sound like Goku, and gokus actor sound like Ginyu. They're making intense gratifying moments instead of one liner after one liner
Bulma decided to explore underwater to cure her boredom, and she found what she thought was a giant pearl which was, in fact, an egg on the back of a giant crab.

Also did you hear a new Dragon Ball Super Movie is coming out soon and the focus seems to be on Gohan being the strongest being in the universe??!
So far, the world strongest movie was the only show I had copyright issues for dbza. I’ve had issues with my other abridged series though. We’ll have to see, but it’s kinda expected as a reaction channel. I appreciate that though:)

@Zirath Ashe They're talking about Superhero, it is just that because the publicity for the movie has been really bad and close to zero, a lot of people are only finding out about it now because it will be released in America in a couple of weeks.

So answer me honestly, is super worth watching? Even the end of Z seemed like it was getting lamer and lamer. And lets pretend GT never exisfed. Ive heard super unnecessarily retconned a ton of stuff, but dont know cause I havent watched it. All i know about super is from what ive heard, and playing dbz games that had some of the dbs stuff in them (xenoverse 2 especially)
@@zeallust8542 Yea I am curious as well. I just got tired of waiting so long between releases I gave up, but also to me super's animation and style aren't my cup of tea. I think I prefer bu saga style animation. Super's animation looks lazy to me and overly stylized. I'm wondering if it's really worth my time to look for it and then actually watch it.
The reasons the voices are didn't is because they had the voice actors copy the other characters mannerisms in order to show that their bodies were switched. So the voice actor for Goku (Masako X) is copying the way Ginyu speaks to show that it's Ginyu in Goku's body. Because the usual cliché is they have the voice actors switch with their body, so in most shows Masako X would still be voicing Goku in his Goku voice even while he's in Goku's body, even though that makes no sense.
Also no they retconned that whole Bulma frog situation by killing Ginyu off here

You are correct in that in the original series, Frog!Ginyu later switches bodies with Bulma. It was pointless filler because eventually they switch back when Bulma!Ginyu tried to switch bodies with Piccolo and Gohan threw Frog!Bulma into the path of the change beam. What was accomplished by all that? Nothing except uninspired comedy. As you saw, Team Four Star chose to ignore all that by having Vegeta kill Frog!Ginyu almost immediately.

fun fact: Raddizz power level was around 600, meaning any given freeza soldier was more than 3 times stronger than raddizz

Also the character reading the blurb at the beginning is the one "most likely" to die. Sometimes a character like Gohan or Bulma will read it. It is just a fun little thing to look out for

That's true, Ginyu does take Bulma's body. He tries again to get another body but he ends up as a frog again.
17:17 i think it's the same voice actor for the swapped characters. they're just doing an impression of the chracter's voice. Like it's ginyu's voice actor trying to sound like goku and goku's voice actor trying to sound like ginyu

i would say,..try not to read the subtitles ahead of the voice and use them rather to understand something if you dont get it.....sometimes it kinda feels like you react to the subtitle a second or two before the joke lands and it kinda takes away the shock of whats being said away.
for example, at 6:39 youre already laughing at the joke, but I find the delivery hilarious and if you heard it without knowing whats coming its a lot more funny when it lands but by then you are not laughing anymore, at 6:58 as another example you're laughing before he actually says "did you tell him to work the shaft" , I know for a fact that if you read subtitles all the time you are not seeing everything happening above it, takes some of it away imo.

"I am an adult" has a different ring to it after having watched DBZA lol.
Also this is a bit unfair to Goku. They have Gohan mad that he "abandoned him for a year" even though Goku was literally dead that whole time, dead from essentially protecting Gohan. And then "send me off into space", but Goku never sent him. Goku was just unable to go with them, or they didn't wanna wait.
Very little time was Goku away where it was his choice.

When you’re done with this you need to watch the DBZ abridged abridged version.. same people summarize the abridged series. “I am hilarious and you will quote everything I say.” - DBZ Abridged Abridged
I like the Freeza saga, but it always bothered me that it seems like only during this one that saiyans get such an op powerup from healing back after being damaged. In this saga you have to turn off your brain to not think about how it makes almost everything else pointless, like Vegeta and other saiyans had enough access to those alien healing pods that any one of them could have beaten themselves up badly, get healed and repeat until they could beat Freeza and then some. Why train to fight or exercise when you get that much of a boost from healing after being hurt?
If you enjoy this series then I’d recommend another series they’re working on called HFIL very funny 😂

The way you speak would only translate so far into a new body, which has different vocal chords tongue/teeth and palette. So your inflection would be pretty similar but it would definitely sound way different.

Cool little fact: when these episodes were being made, the guy who originally voiced Raditz had left TFS. So all the little hits on Yamcha that have been going on for awhile and continued here with the "I don't know what this Yamcha is, but it sounds [insert something negative here]" seemed to me like them feeling a little more free to take smacks at Yamcha, although they always said that part of why they made Krillin the butt monkey with the owned counter was because Yamcha simply wasn't in the show enough to make it work.
In the next few episodes there's a little running gag of Yamcha constantly getting cut off just before he can speak, that's also probably because they didn't have a replacement voice lined up yet.
Let me just fill in, Vegeta3986 (VA for Yamcha and some others) left on good terms with the team on season 2, the know reasons were his new job as a english teacher in Japan and that TFS was taking the show more seriously and Vegeta3986 just did as a hobby. The jokes about Yamcha are entirely because the CHARACTER is week, there is nothing to do with the VA and TFS would be super unprofessional for making jokes about a former employee being worthless.

I'm a longtime fan (I think episode 14 or 15 was the first one that I watched as it came out) but I never really caught up on all the behind the scenes details. I'm glad it wasn't something more hostile, I didn't really think about that until I was in the middle of typing. I'm going to edit my comment a bit just to make sure it doesn't come across as TFS was hostile to Yamcha's VA.
