No I wouldn't throw it away it's worth money for sure, if it's Sandy bridge it can even still be gamed on, throw a 1050ti in it and get it to at least 12gb of ram that can pass a stability test and you can play any game that's getting released right now
The pc is worth max $200. But z68 is a good platform for a budget build.
its a i5 3570k, You can see it in the bios screen 9:57 . So a pretty good cpu with some OC and a still capable card, I think the 670 will perform very similar to a gtx 950 or 1050. I wish i can find things like that on the trash :'( .

ChamChoCraft could sell for $300+ as it still can play today’s games at 1080p and medium-high settings with good enough fps. The GTX 670 can run MAD MAX at 1440p and high settings with 30-60 fps

There was a BIOS upgrade required in 2014. My laptop was failing due to it and now it's like new. I've 16gb ram and 250 HDD from new. Haven't seen such a small HDD for years. My desktop has 2TB but need a video card.

I mean the cable management made me gag but it's a great find. That 670 actually outperforms a modern day 1050 or 1050ti, which run around $150. Your RAM is sadly only 4gb, but probably came with three other identical sticks. The power supply isn't bad but normal PC builders don't buy used PSUs so it's not really resellable. Great find!

The bios needed to be updated? lol,.. No ther Bootmgr has to be re-written with BSDedit. A simple wipe of the drive and fresh install, done. Good Find by the way. Its a decent low/mid budget build for now days. Still has potential to play the games out even now.

for the BootMGR you can use something called hirens disk and reinstall the MGR back onto the master boot. if that fails then you can try and Mount the drive with Linux to fix the bootMGR. if that fails then you can reinstall the OS. hope this helps.
Bad mojo for the former owner. I thought at first the original owner pulled the OS that was on another drive. But if the BIOS upgrade, prioritized the 2TB and found the boot manager, then welcome to the world of exposed Personal Identification Information (P.I.I.). Before anyone chucks a blown PC, be sure to remove the drives. If your going to reuse them keep them secure, if not - physically destroy the drive before chucking it, reformatting does not wipe the drive completely.

Wow some of you guys are harsh. Did I miss something or did you guys miss that this guy found this and got it for nothing? So what if it's not the latest/greatest tech. He said it pretty well at the end. It's an awesome find. I would love to have that rig for the price he paid. I mean it's hard to beat at the price point of FREE. I'm running a budget gaming PC that I built in 2012 with an I7 3770k and a GTX660SC with a 250GB SSD, 1TB HDD, 8GB RAM, good power supply, water cooled ect. 1000$ budget build in 2012 that has been running almost 24/7 for 5 years. It played games well at 1080p back in 2012 but I stopped gaming years ago. Anyway, this thing has a LOT of hours on it and I'm just now having to replace a fan with worn out bearings. For your average person that isn't a hard core gamer this PC that he found doesn't need much to be a very solid web surfing and light gaming rig. It would absolutely make my week to find this PC and I would fix it up a little and use it or sell it to a friend...but hey, it's no exaggeration to say that I'm extremely poor so maybe my standards aren't acceptable for most people.

Most of the components are better than what most of my friends have...but hey, we are poor. 16GB 4x4 means that the original kit came with 4 sticks, each containing 4GB for a total of 16GB.
The GTX 670 is comparable to the current generation GTX 1050. While the former was upper mid-range, the later is bottom rung of the GTX lineup. Thermals and power requirements will look pathetic in comparison, but framerate should be similar overall. It's only a few generatons old, considering that 8th gen was exclusive to the mobile market.
Note the Z suffix on the motherboard, and K suffix on the processor, meaning the chip can overclocked, and should be in order to get your moneys worth as it were.

GTX 670 wasn't even an expensive card back when it launched, it has the stock intel cooler that COMES with the CPU, the video creator NEVER said what CPU it was or what motherboard.
I acually took the time to look at everything ecept the CPU and got the prices for everything but the CPU back when everything was brand new.
The total price of the system without CPU is just over $900.... Hmmm... I am not rich but I can easly just throw that money in the garbage.... You don't have to be rich to have a decent computer....

All right so there is 4gb of ddr3 ram(not impressive) a gtx 670(really old, kind of bad) motherboard is nice hard drive is good, power supply is iffy, the CX series isn't as reliable anymore, the CPU is a decent one, and its over clock able, and the case is beautiful but the PC would be worth around 300-400 us

@Suklaa Patukka, like the he mentioned the CX series is qeustionable at best. They will however deliver what is promised, and you are likely looking at about 3-5 years of life from it without any real downsides (if the unit was new). Now on to the bad stuff, the safety features are somewhat lacking and the fan is just straight out bad. Couple that with sub par components and you are left with a sub par unit. That said, it will still perform as adverticed, it just won't be quiet while doing it and you should expect a significantly shorter lifetime than a better quality unit.

depends a lot on what you define by "exploding", they are most certanly a lot more likely to have exploding caps. Though nothing as volatile as the PSUs of the early 2000s.

One possibility for the missing hard drive cable is a problem I've encountered, I've three species that are getting to 10 years old. The one I'm using is an upgraded 2010 Dell sff with a 1050 TI and soon-to-be a 30 or $40 xeon. That doesn't matter but I don't have a box of SATA cables lying around so it seems to me that you just pulled it out of the old system because he needed it for the hard drive he bought for his new system. The whole time you never even checked to see if the old system worked.
Again that's exactly the situation I've been in multiple times.

All you need now is a 128G SSD boot disc for your OS, additional DDR3 RAM like 4G stick or more, and better socket LGA 1155 CPU cooler (HSF), so you can overclock that unlocked i5 ivy bridge CPU and do a clean wire management...I would say it's worth around $350...Good luck!

So I kinda like the case, some unique features, then you opened it and I saw the stock intel cooler, then I noticed that though this case has excellent cable routing holes none of the cables go through them or are tidied. At that point my anticipation of anything interesting died. The person who had this system didn't care much about it and only put together the minimum to get it going. No overclocking, no high end parts. They took most of the ram (dunno why they'd leave one stick unless this is second hand and the original owner stole most of the memory) and the main boot SSD and left the rest to rot because it wasn't good enough for them to use anymore. Personally I'd have kept the GPU and HDD at least as well. Those are worth something.
This is why I drive around rich neighborhoods on trash day lol it's crazy what some people throw away!!!

That pc was never expensive. Cheap parts and stock cooler and it’s ancient
4GB of 1333mhz ddr3 ram(last gen RAM). No question about it its definitely running in single channel mode because they jacked 3 sticks. cant tell if the MOBO has quad channel support would ultimately make the difference.

it’s an older pc shown by the gtx 670, legacy bios(given away since it had a BOOTMGR message), and the just all the dust in the case 😂

Missing boot manager requires a reinstall of Windows they most likely forced the pc off during an update and had corrupted system files you could try rebuilding the system 32 via cmd running off a USB with Windows Installer on it but 9 times out of 10 a reinstall is the only fix

I bought a workstation rendering pc with 2 high end graphics cards, it was running Linux when i got it with 2 hard drives but I installed a big ssd with windows 10, I'm lead to believe the Linux drives have bitcoin on them how can I get them off
The drive was likely removed from the unit in order to be securely erased, and you can't boot from something which is erased. Go into your BIOS, ensure UEFI is disabled and choose either USB or DVD boot. Boot from a live Linux distro and check for yourself.
While you're there, run memtest86 to verify your RAM, and check your voltages. A faulty PSU could blow the entire mainboard, a faulty mainboard could damage a PSU, and you won't know about either of those until it's too late.
Also, there are sites which price components. If you're capable of reading the part numbers as you've demonstrated, you should be able to conduct research based on those keywords. We're not your research slaves, and you're not functionally retarded.
You should wear an anti-static wrist-band when you touch components. I'm not saying everyone should... there are people who handle electronic equipment carefully, and people who leave oily fingerprints all over silicon and electronic circuitry... and you can only be one of those. Sorry.
Nonetheless, nice score. Assuming it boots and you sell it without warranty, I'd expect $200ish to be a reasonable price. I wouldn't be selling it without extensive testing, though, because I don't want to be the guy who triggered an axe murdering spree.

EMBER 100% agree about 16GB. I can easily hit 7-8GB just running GTA-V. I don't know if the memory leaks in BF1 were fixed but during the beta I was using 11GB+.
Also, if you're going to be snatching PCs from dumpsters and the roadside... Maybe you should learn a few things about them? Like the fact that it states right on the RAM it is part of a 16gb, 4 stick kit. 4x4gb. A 670 is not that good, besides, nVidia GPUs aren't that good, comparitive to AMD Gpus, when it comes to crypto mining. Underclocking the core to lower voltage, while boosting RAM clocks to increase hashrate while reducing power consumption and heat.
That's why people don't use 1080s to mine. Its also why ASIC mining for bitcoin smashes GPU mining, note with Ethereum, it's shifted back to GPUs. Hence the stupid inflated price of even that old 670.

Finally, Bootmgr was most likely on the SSD the person used as a boot drive, with the 2TB being storage.
Or, it was wiped before being thrown out, like anyone with half a brain would do. Anyone with a full brain would just keep the damned 2TB drive.

I just find it funny that you mined bitcoin 7 years ago, but don't know that 4x4gb written on the RAM means it's a 4 stick, 16gb total set.
Don't know much about the older gpu, cpu, etc but I do know a little about the power supply. The Corsair CX600 is the older version of the CX600M, so it's probably going to be harder to sell. However it is going for around $50 currently so that would be some okay profit if you mark it down and label it as used. Nice find but I'm cringing at your vocabulary.
oh and the company that makes it is Corsair. The efficiency rating is 80+ Bronze I think, really don't see why an old 600w unit would be 80+ Gold or higher.
Edit: Just checked online, $50 is the cheapest you can buy it and it's more towards $70-$80. Also, the efficiency is 80+, which is an absolute joke.

Ok, so ram is usually sold in kits. In kits, you can have usually from one physical stick of ram to 4 unless you buy it in bulk. The reason why it says 4x4 is because the owner probably bought the 16gb kit of 4 sticks of 4gb each. I don't know what happened to the other sticks, but that single stick was part of a kit of 4 sticks, and the total capacity of that kit was 16gb, which is why it said that. *That single stick is 4gb.*
