  • We made a chicken coop using all recycled materials. Aluminum cans were the perfect materials to make roof tiles! Lots of tedious work but I love the final result! DIY How to make roof tiles with recycled cans! #recycledcrafts #upcycle #rooftiles

    A Kentucky Appalachian type of innovation!! Nice details! From Kentucky Wind Energy first 7 meter wooden propeller developer.
    Thank you!

    I found your channel because I have to fix a shed roof. I was thinking of using flatten cans. I wanted it to be multi colored. I will experiment on a dog house first. Keep being creative.

      Thank you for finding our video and commenting!! Good luck on your project and hope everything goes well!😊 Like I said in the video, try to make crease soft. Sharp creases tare aluminum cans. Enjoy your project! Thank you again! Have a great evening!

    Brilliant video. I don't have aluminum drink cans, but I have used plastic dog food bags that I used in a similar fashion to cover a DIY dog kennel several years ago, and they are still ok. I'm careful with money too.

    Thanks for the cool video. I have been thinking a lot about recycled roofing materials and I hear aluminum is a good long lasting material. I love your innovative approach! Keep up the good work :)

      Thank you for your nice comment! I’m not sure how long this roof lasts but I think it might last for a long time!? We will eventually move our chicken coop to Arizona desert with 70-80miles/hr wind. I cannot wait to put my work to the test. And if breaks, I can make it again with no cost!😎

    Great video. I’m going to use your technique to shingle the roof of a horizontal bee hive.

      Thank you for watching our video and your comment! I think if we staple the right places, the aluminum tiles could withstand decent winds also?! Good luck on your new hive roof!!

    Good idea, I can tell you put a lot of thought into it.
    You should have stapled more aluminum on the sides like you did the rest to protect the staples. Anywhere there is an uncovered staple the water will get in and cause damage. I see you fixed that uncovered wood at the bottom part way through your video. Glad you noticed before you finished.

      Thank you for finding our video and giving us a kind comment! I will definitely use more staples next time so that tiles won’t lift up by winds in the future. So far so good though. Once we move it to Arizona desert, we would know that my work really works or not. Thanks again! Have a good day!

    I was looking at the empty cans in my garbage and the idea popped into my head. Had to search to see if anyone has done this. My concern with the staples is that they'll start to pull out after a couple years as the wood shrinks. Have you had any issues?

    • @leeslivingoutofthenorm
      @leeslivingoutofthenorm  Před rokem +2

      Thank you so much for finding my video and commenting! As of now none of staples or tiles are lifted or pulled. One thing I can say is that wood board that I used for this project was already weathered (pre shrunk!?) so it might be the reason it is still doing well. I hope your project will go smooth!! Have a great day!!

    чему ты учишь, если ты сама не знаешь? под скобки попадет вода, крепеж должен быть снаружи листа и закрываться другим листом. верхнего замка нету, дождь ветром попадет под верхний лист и протечет.

      Thank you for watching and commenting! I believe if we do it right, it will be a decent rain protection. Definitely it is not perfect but it was fun DIY project :-) Have a great day!
