  • Although principal filming for Elvis' 1970 documentary movie "That's The Way It Is" lasted for four days over six shows, further filming took place over the next few shows comprising of rear shots, long shots and audience reaction shots. The main body of work lasted from his opening show in the main showroom of Las Vegas' International Hotel through his dinner show of 13 August which allowed director Denis Sanders enough material as far as songs were concerned from which to compile the concert section of the movie.
Such was the amount of material that was compiled that the majority of that filmed during principal photography was surplus to requirements and the same fate would befall that filmed after the dinner show of 13 August and very little of that additional filming would be used.
Among that from the additional filming is this very decent version of "Suspicious Minds" from the midnight show of 14 August which is almost entirely filmed from behind the orchestra but still gives a good impression of Elvis performing the song. Elvis is in a different mindset from the previous six days with the pressure of filming lifted and his interaction with the audience is testament to that fact.
An excellent sounding audience recording of this entire 14 August 1970, midnight show, has been available unofficially since 2003 when it was released on the album "The Man In White Vol. 3 - Get Dirty" on the Lone Star label. As the source video has segments missing these gaps have been filled using audio from the aforementioned album of that show.

A small clip at 2:37 was actually used in the updated movie from a different angle.

1:43 is not right because the discovered audience footage shows him laying down on the floor
