    I got a 2023 Camry TRD. It is black with a blue metal flake throughout the paint. It is pretty awesome. Corners like anything. Driven in sport mode, it is fast enough. Has the JBL sound system. The seats and steering wheel are black with red thread. All the gauges are red. The seat belts are red. The acceleration from 30 to 90 just puts a smile on your face.

      @@jeysergaleas9714 Luckily, we have a volume Toyota dealer(owned by Penske) in our town. I have also purchased a Tacoma TRD Off-Road, Corolla and Camry SE all from the same salesman. They have no haggle prices as a rule, which are much better than you get from either of the other 2 Toyota dealers. Traded in the Camry SE for more than I paid for it. I got a very good deal on the TRD. In advance, I did specify my choices, pay a deposit and wait for the car to be built. Have thought about a GRCorolla Circuit Edition but I think getting in and out would be difficult, I am old. Although a Toyota Stout might be a likely purchase in a couple of years.

  • @RandallJT84
    @RandallJT84 Před 11 měsíci +2

    I'm a genuine gear head, car guy.. V8 or die type; and I've always thought this car had a certain something. That "something" is so rare and off the wall that it's production #'s limit us to 6000 Camry TRD examples since inception in 2020. For a mass market model, such as the juggernaut Camry; 6,000 is ultra rare for sure. I digress, a tad; into I kinda want one as a daily. I'm looking for White, but I wouldn't be opposed to the Cavalry Blue either. That shade of blue is definitely a "love it or hate it" shade.
    The tuxedo look of white/black fit greatly in TRD trim imo. The subtle badge in glaring red of TRD affixed out back is a statement, but not much of one for fellow sport compact, or car enthusiasts alike. It doesn't quite have the essence as say 911 Turbo, or even ///M or R in the German side of the equation. I like that though. I could fly or drive under the radar. Not having to worry of being bothered by most in my daily trips to and from appointments/work, or the random 12am wal-mart run for stuff I most assuredly don't need.
    Yet, this car I think I need, or WANT just to say, yep there's something out there to suite every niche or buyer. I also admire Toyota for keeping the buttery smooth V6 as an option period in the Camry lineup. The more luxurious XLE v6 or XSE v6 are both admirable for their segment and options available. Yet, it's sill a Camry. A Camry wasn't made to be sporty, it's practicality through and through. The type of vehicle that you buy when you want to impress your accountant or father, rather than your hot date, or partner in life.
    If in some random, or strange circumstance that Toyota execs decided to throw a "GR" treatment towards Camry's vast ocean of lineage: Imagine AWD option, either with a S/C 3.5 V6, or AWD with the 2UR-GSE 5.0 V8 from the Lexus IS500 , with option of a anti-theft device M6 option with valved dual exhaust. The Toyota faithful would go wild, while probably double taking their eyes as they read the press-release. Maybe throw in some Molten Pearl (Lexus), or a pretty metallic Purple shade, "just go crazy", as the late Bob Ross once said.

    Good review. My TRD was built yesterday and i'm waiting for the dealership to call when it lands. The gray color isn't drab..it's not the same gray on other Camrys. The TRD gray is more of a 'concrete' color you see on German vehicles called "Underground" and was introduced in 2023. Toyota also offers it on the '23 Corolla. The color is absolutely striking and makes the TRD look unique to all other Camrys. Just wanted to clarify that the reviewer's comment wasn't quite accurate about the gray color.

    @sparten576 Před rokem +2

    I owned a 2020 Camry TRD for 2 years. I didn't get the JBL speaker upgrade. Base speakers suck big time. This thing is NOT a performance vehicle by any means. Transmission tuning sucks. Jerky 1st gear (from a stop the car wont move then grab really hard), SUPER long 2nd gear and basically meaningless gears after that. Seats started really hurting in the back right in the base as toyota decided to put barely any padding felt like you were sitting on a edge of metal. No limited slip diff so it just spins one wheel if you have traction control off. If you have it on, neither wheel spins. Seats don't fold down in the back for unknown reasoning. Head room is not great. I am 6 foot 4 and my hair would often hit the roof unless slouching (which made the seats more painful). My center console and dash squeaked like hell after 2 years. After this car i unfortunately went to a Subaru Outback, then a year later, the new WRX which is way more engaging.

    • @Realistick
      @Realistick  Před rokem +4

      There's a brace behind the rear seat which is why it does not fold! She's definitely a very flawed car and that transmission tuning/ratios with the open diff really kills it as a performance car. As it is, I still think it's a good alternative to a regular family sedan if a sport compact is just too impractical for whatever reason.

      Is the new WRX not CVT only now? I guess "engaging" is what you make of it. Neither are performance vehicles, just a hint of sport. Personally I ran from Subaru after owning them since the mid 90s. Even staying with them during the EJ25 head gasket plague through the current front wheel bearing failures. They have lost/changed their quirky identity to better compete with the now common AWD competition and lost their soul to conform...They just seem cheaply built and generic in handling and styling anymore. It is unfortunate that it has no LSD. You may find some aftermarket ones available, but it could cost a substantial amount of cheese to have one installed.
    If any car could have a greatly improved driving experience by having a limited slip diff, it would be a FWD. Being as they are likely to be far more practical to produce compared to any other drive type, you would think they could just throw little helical LSDs into just about every FWD. How many less parts do modern FWD cars have compared to AWD or RWD, no driveshaft or diff carrier, half the amount of CV shafts?A quality differential isn't likely to cost more than all that, just throw it in there, or at least consider offering an option.
    Might hurt AWD sales though.

    I drive a V6 Fusion and was hoping for another naturally aspirated V6 family sedan to replace it. The Camry even looks decent in certain colors (except for the front end). I rented a regular Camry last year and was highly disappointed in the interior. It feels very cheap and outdated. It isn't enough of a performance car to make it worth deleting folding rear seats for added stiffness. I like spoilers, but the TRD version is just odd. The black roof was somewhat cool when it came out, but it isn't aging well in my opinion. I know the reliability is there, but the TRD is a big miss in my book.

    It's a Camry! For god sake! Toyota needs to stop this crap and go towards more luxurious instead of sportier.

      As long all screams itˋs booring, not fun to drive. This is the result. Comfortable und luxurious is not matchable with sporty and thrilling to drive.

    Buy a Sonata NLine instead...

      @garyc3706 Před rokem

      n line is nice, but Hyundai still have to prove their reliability. I have a 2012 sonata that I still drive, and it drives great but that is not the case for most of their customers. Even their own mechanics say that their engines and transmissions just are not good. This car will last well over 200,000 miles without a hiccup.
