Hydrogen Water, does it actually work?

  • I wanted to know if there are any scientifically proven benefits to drinking hydrogen water, also known as hydrogenated water.
    Here are the scientific peer reviewed studies I read;
    Therapeutic Efficacy of Molecular Hydrogen: A New Mechanistic Insight
    www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti...
    Hydrogen-rich water for improvements of mood, anxiety, and autonomic nerve function in daily life

    This is a super interesting idea but after reading both the studies, I think that you did not accurately summarize the results. The study does not imply that the “answer is 100% yes” but rather the results suggested hydrogen water *may* improve quality of life in those few categories. Also, we know that hydrogen is an antioxidant, that is a well known fact, but we do not know for sure that hydrogen water is an effective way to deliver these effects, that is just a proposed possible mechanism. And further, they used sealed aluminum pouches of hydrogenated water. We can not know for sure that these relatively cheap water bottles that claim to add hydrogen are just as effective as the machinery used in the production of these hydrogen water pouches.
    You also mentioned blood tests but did not mention the fact that the blood tests showed no significant difference between the 2 groups before or after the study.
    Also important to note that the main researcher was funded by melodian co, a company that sells packaged hydrogen water.
    This is not a criticism, but a reminder that you must always thoroughly read every part of a research study.

    I took a really skeptical approach to all the claims regarding hydrogen water but thought I would try it and see if it had any benefits. I workout a lot and read that this helps you hydrating and had a lot of benefits in regards to your workouts. So I went on a 3 day water detox drinking only filtered (alkaline water) which thereafter got hydrogen infused with a PEM/SPE water bottle and I must say after 5 days I have never experience such stamina like I did on the first day after trying this. I am not a big runner and mostly only do warm ups before my workout. And literal ended up running 4 miles on a fast steady pace without even becoming exhausted after the run. Felt as if your body suddenly optimally could oxygenate your blood/cells and muscles. I have never experienced anything like that in my life before. Simply cannot explain it but have to say it most definitely has had an impact on me 😊

    1 hydrogen atom added to a water makes Hydronium (H3O+) which is really strong acid. So strong in fact, that its concentration is used for measurment of pH (higher concentration of H3O+/H+ means lower pH), but since you're still alive, we can say, that most of the hydrogen forms molecule (H2) and escapes through walls and lid of the bottle or reforms Water molecule with oxygen, that you can also see bubble through the water.
    Small correction, positive electrode attracts oxygen, negative electrode attracts hydrogen, since, as we know from physics, opposites attract.
    To the studies:
    Second study didn't find any significant difference between Hydrogen water group and placebo group in Cognitive function results, Blood sample results nor Daily daytime activity and daily journal results categories. There were some differences in Questionnaire results in improved mood and anxiety category and Autonomic function results in post workout category, but other problems with this study were:
    a) 26 participants is not statistically significant number
    b) Melodian Corporation funded this research, same Melodian Corporation that makes and sells hydrogenated water, so this study is most likely biased.
    First one isn't really study on people, but study of hydrogen's effect on mitochondrial respiratory complex (which ensures cellular respiration and makes ATP molecules, that supplies energy to other metabolic pathways). This study isn't wrong, but our cells have their own way of supplying hydrogen, made enzymaticaly from water inside the cell, to metabolic pathways that need it.
    Also yes, hydrogen can pass through the barrier, or any cell membrane for that matter, but that's not rare for small molecules without charge. Other molecules, like breathing gasses (O2, CO2), water, ethanol,... can also freely pass through the membranes.

Many times, I've discontinued using H-water for several days and then gone back to my routine and every time, there's a subtle but very real difference. I stumbled across this water while sitting around after the COVID deal started. Have studied and kept my health in good condition for many years, but also have known I don't drink enough water for several years now. After buying one of these Hydrogen water makers, a small cheap one, I now after 6 months drink mostly water and lots of it. The other day I went on a two day holiday and drank store mineral water, I missed this Hydo water after the first day, and I noticed a very big difference in my actual desire to drink water was much less while drinking mineral water. The Hydro water is all I drink, and my ice cubes as well, which by the way are clear and just taste better.

      ever since my kettle broke i didn't replace it and drank water from tap instead. I fill up a bottle and leave it in fridge overnight to de-chlorinate/de-fluoridate and I'm ready for the next day!
      hydrogen water imo is just a gimmick - people suffer with this psychological problem called CONSUMERISM! In other words they buy things to make them FEEL better!!
      By the way by drinking hydrogen saturated water you are literally drinking water that has been contaminated with salts or metals as well!!

      @PeterPete Před 2 lety +2

      @@N_FName Chlorine evaporates over time when the water is still and left open to the air. I've stopped drinking water from the tap and currently I use a dehumidifier to collect drinking water from the cool night-time air. I filter it through a carbon filter - tastes really good and there's no contaminants in it either. So much better than the water distiller I have been using. Water from a de-humidifier has a TDS reading of about 14 and after filtering through activated carbon the TDS increases to around 34.

    • @PeterPete
      @PeterPete Před 2 lety

      @@elainebrown4236 a dehumidifier condenses gaseous water from the air so one can collect it as a liquid. We use a 12l meaco low energy dehumidifier. It's cheap to run and works very much like a refrigerator. We have it on a timer and have it running for 3 hrs although one can use it all night to collect water either in the 2.5l container or add a pipe and fill a larger container!
      Works really well during damp nights! We've got ours positioned by the opened window and leaving the window open all night isn't a problem because the dehumidifer warms the room anyway. It's quiet too so we won't go back now to drinking water from tap!
      Once collected we then filter the water through an activated carbon filter to condition the water and then store in glass carafes in the fridge! Tastes really nice!
      The only downside with the dehumidifier we have is inefficient during cold weather so we have to use our water disitiller or we could buy a dessicant based dehumidifer but they're more expensive to run. Luckily that's only for a short time during the cold winter months!
      Using a dehumidifer to collect drinking water is very good imo and I would defo recommend anybody to use one! Our mains water consumption has been reduced.
      If we had a garden we'd use rainwater but we don't have a garden so that's why we use a dehumidifier!
      A final thought only drink when you feel thirsty!
      if you do decide to use one allow the machine to run through for awhile and never use it if you're drying clothes because the fragrance of the washing powder will contaminate the water!

Later he learned from Albert Szent-Gyorgyi some informations about how the electrons transportation works in the body biochemistry reactions. After some research he talked, that the atomic charged H- ion is the real electron donor. After this he started to sell silica nanoparticles colloid in the form of tablets and liquid crystal energy colloid .

    Dear Sir how can this generator, generates only hydrogen? Where does the Oxygen goes? I believe that to create hydrogen we must have 2 connected containers in the shape of U and in the first one we apply the + (positive charge, polarity) of direct current and in the second one we apply the - (negative charge polarity) of the direct current. + Is oxygen and - is hydrogen. Because the babbles of oxygen and the babbles of Hydrogen both go up in the water, so, If both polarities are present in the same container, then the Oxygen and the Hydrogen are going to be in the same container. In the other hand how can we create an electrolysis if only one polarity is present without a second polarity? How can an electrolysis created? Thank you vary much.
