I'm proud to be a Razorback and I could careless what these sports announcers and commentators think. Arkansas could win five national championships in a row and they would all still be calling Arkansas a 2nd/3rd tier program.
Kentucky fan here saying that Arkansas is definitely a top-20 program all-time. In the 90s, Kentucky-Arkansas was the biggest game of the year in college basketball for a while! At least once, they were ranked # 1 and # 2 on gameday. But even before Nolan's awesome run, Eddie Sutton had the Hawgs rolling in the 70s and 80s. I still remember them being the team that took down North Carolina when Jordan was there! Huge respect tor Arkansas from Big Blue Nation!

Look, I agree with you guys. I'm a Duke fan and you beat us this year. I think people who are disparaging Arkansas aren't looking at the whole picture. First of all, Arkansas has everything in place to become a highly successful program. They have great facilities and a great arena. Most importantly, they have a great fan base that cares. And, they have a lot of $$$ to spread around Now let's talk about Calipari: We all know that he's a great recruiter. Year after year at Kentucky he was able to bring in a top two or three recruiting class nationally. He'll do the same at Arkansas because the top kids will want to play for him. It only takes two or three players to completely re-make a basketball team. I think that Cal just got stale at Kentucky. They were tired of him and he was tired of them. He probably didn't have a good relationship with his athletics director. Sometimes you just need a change. I think Cal is as good a coach as he ever was. I think he just needed some new energy. I think this was a good move for both parties. And for those who argue that Arkansas is a second tier program I'd say, well, maybe, but they won't be for long. My guess is that Arkansas will improve very quickly and become a force in the SEC.
I really like him but his methods at UK just dont work without more experienced players. He will get yall into final fours but you'll love some first rounds too.

Saying low expectations is crazy lol, it made sense for both parties when it comes to him coming to Arkansas. Kentucky and him needed something new. But I promise you the expectations aren’t low here, muss had us in 2 elite 8’s and 3 sweet 16’s in his time here.

It sounds like you’d be grateful just to make the final four. If that doesnt put it into perspective for you then nothing will. Expectations are lower, thats literally the entire reason Cal left Uk. (if you haven’t seen the before and after lifetime contract numbers, id advice looking into that, its what your getting into.). As soon as the honeymoon phase runs out with Cal, you’ll be lucky if he even considers the programs goals moving forward. It’s all about Cal. He wants that control.

Kentucky KY was one of the most five important basketball programs in the country. "WAS" is the key word. And btw..the team that had its worst season in five years BEAT DUKE this year. If Duke were in the SEC this year they would have finished bottom half of the league. Not a subjective opinion. Saying low expectations is crazy lol, it made sense for both parties when it comes to him coming to Arkansas. Kentucky and him needed something new. But I promise you the expectations aren’t low here, muss had us in 2 elite 8’s and 3 sweet 16’s in his time here.
@@HawgHomer before Cal’s lifetime contract , between 2011 - 2015, Uk went to 4 final fours, 2 national title games, and won 1 championship. Those are Uks expectations. It sounds like you’d be grateful just to make the final four. If that doesnt put it into perspective for you then nothing will. Expectations are lower, thats literally the entire reason Cal left Uk.
(if you haven’t seen the before and after lifetime contract numbers, id advice looking into that, its what your getting into.).
As soon as the honeymoon phase runs out with Cal, you’ll be lucky if he even considers the programs goals moving forward. It’s all about Cal. He wants that control.

Thanks for the great information, Arkansas is more than happy with what didn't work at Kentucky. Our coach obviously did his job well at UK, He and his team are only human, so i would live with 2 first round ncaa tournament losses vs what the man got done overall 🤔

Kentucky KY was one of the most five important basketball programs in the country. "WAS" is the key word. And btw..the team that had its worst season in five years BEAT DUKE this year. If Duke were in the SEC this year they would have finished bottom half of the league. Not a subjective opinion. Arkansas who finished third from last beat Duke in a game that was never close and bordered on blowout. And fyi...Arkansas Beat Purdue in a season opener...exhibition says Purdue...it was for Arkansas too and they won.

@HawgHomer mature response. He has a point though, UK's AD could have fought to keep Cal there, but he didn't. Cal didn't speak to Barnhart or Stoops unless he had to, and he hasn't performed since signing the lifetime contract. If anything, Arkansas does NOT need to offer him a lifetime contract. Make him work for it. Congrats to UA on the hire, all the best.
@@danielng6294 I’m not saying he’s completely wrong, I understand that Kentucky probaly wanted him gone but couldn’t because his buyout. This is a win win for both programs. Kentucky gets what they want which is something new and Arkansas gets what they want which is a an established coach who is an amazing recruiter and he will be rejuvenated at a new place. I think both fan bases should be able to agree on that. Kentucky is gonna make a good hire we all know that I mean it’s Kentucky, bluest of blue bloods
@@HawgHomerabsolutely agreed, win-win-win for everyone involved. I truly hope Cal has learned a few lessons and will adjust, but with his reputation in Lexington, it wouldn't have mattered. At UA, he can start fresh and apply those lessons (hopefully). If he does and reverts to the passion he had in 2012, the SEC better watch out.
