- Here are my top 5 favorite bands of all time (in no particular order):
The Smiths
My Bloody Valentine
The Sundays
The Beatles
Radiohead
as you can see, The Sundays are very high on my list, and remain to this day one of the music world's most overlooked treasures.......Harriet Wheeler and David Gavurin of The Sundays are a songwriting team that equal the likes of Lennon & McCartney, or say Morrissey & Marr (of The Smiths)........
If there is a better cover of any song on youtube, I haven't seen it. I am a HUGE fan of the Sundays, but this is the only version of this song I listen to
I agree with you 1000%
Got that shoegazer feel to it. Love it.
WIAT U ATE THIS
Your voice is so deep
It’s so smooooth....
I couldn't imagine a guy covering The Sundays, but I was curious to see the guitar work. What a shock!!! Singing Harriet Wheeler's part an octave lower actually works! I always loved the sound of David's Gavurin's ultra-chorused guitar chords and your rendition is outstanding! Bravo...please post more Sundays!
OMG I didn't expect this voice 😱💖💖💖💖💖
Wow- this is simply terrific.
im learning to play this rn and this is honestly the most beautiful cover of any song ive heard
Thanks, man. The SUNDAYS have been in my all time top 5 favorite bands for like 19 years now. The very pinnacle of smart, lovely music...
thank you so much.......
I know I'm asking a lot by suggesting male Sundays renditions in the first place........
Wheeler is to this day my all-time favorite vocalist..........even after 18 years of listening.........
I love this video so much! I know im late to the party but Amazing!!! job!!!! :)
¨dawg thats just about the most beautiful cover Ive ever seen
I have been a fan of the Sundays for 28 years this is very good honestly who ever you are give up the day job and try to get somewhere please
I'm with you. Huge Sundays fan forever and this is fantastic.
This guy does the best Sunday's covers of anyone posting on CZcams. His voice works and I like how he also does a great job with Dave's Strums. No small feat since many think, including myself, Gavurin is way under-appreciated as a guitarist and songwriter
Wasn't expecting this to work but it was unexpectedly brilliant!
It may have been a while back, but as a massive fan of The Sundays, this an utterly brilliant version of the their song.
Holy god, i'd wish have a voice like you man, this is like the heaven.
13 years late but this is beyond amazing
Great cover. Love the Sundays, Smiths, and Beatles as well.
I'd love to see you do a serious studio version of this, not that this doesn't give me chills!
Still rocks the shit in 2022
Wow, That is awesome, kinda like your version. Sounds great. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
One of my favorite songs ever. Very nice cover. Thanks for posting that.
I have been coming to this video for years. It is so painfully beautiful and breathtaking. Always when I am unintelligibly sad I come to this cover. Please never delete this. It fills my soul with tears. I beg of you to make a cover album of these classic shoegaze songs: Cocteau twins, the Sundays, etc. I would listen to it endlessly. I thank you deeply for your contribution to the world.
It makes me so happy to know that my tributes to all the bands I love can have an effect on peoples' lives. I still listen to and learn Sundays songs frequently. I've recently been learning "Blood On My Hands" from Blind and "I Won" from Reading, Writing & Arithmetic. Cheers from dreary, but beautiful Olympia, WA!
Are you addicted to sadness?
i come back to this every month
dude--anyone trying to cover H Wheeler is brave as hell, but this is great. Love the version
Never too late to learn!!
Great job there. And touched as an Englishman that you list all the bands from Britain. I love loads of amazing American music, most of it from the seventies: The Eagles, Neil Young, Crosby Stills and Nash. England: it's staying in your room, looking outside at the life passing you by. America: it's hitting that open road, freedom.
I’ve worked out why you are so good: you aren’t imitating the original artists but you also aren’t drifting too far away from the original so that it’s just over the top.
I came to this conclusion driving listening to Talk Talk’s ‘It’s My Life’ and thinking of Gwen Stefani’s cover. I like her music but this particular cover was TOOO much.
You reach a perfect balance!
wow, VERY good. Always loved this song and your low tone vocal is just terrific.....and quite moving. Cheers.
I couldn't concieve a big guy with a goatee doing any justice to Harriet Wheeler... until I pressed 'play'. This is tremendous.
From Monday till Saturday...
I miss your amazing covers!
The fact that more people don't know about the Sundays is rather criminal. But then again, more of a treasure, right? ...Great job, by the way.
This is such a beautiful cover.
wow, this one is so cool!!!! it has that sort of dreampop and shoegaze touch...... amazing!!!!!!!!
This is ruddy brilliant!!! I was apprehensive about anyone tampering with my favourite Sundays' song but this is epic....guitar is orchestral! BRAVISSIMO!!
How to be you?! Couldn't get my strumming right. Lovely song cover!
I can sing along at Harriet’s pitch and it is so FUN!
Beautiful 😢
Top notch.
Honestly I cringed at reading what the video was going to be. Harriet's singing is so special . . . but you've done a fab job and it works.
Nice one!
Very good mate; have you double tracked your voice ? As Ben Webb said I couldn't imagine this song sang by a man, but you've nailed it, and given it a different edge. Well done.
wow!!!!!!!!!!! this is amazing! . you have a great voice., this sounded and flowed perfect.
Awesome. If I can come close to this, I would be happy.
This is crazy. The bands you mentioned then back in 2008 are the same ones I love so dearly now
Very pleasant cover here, man. Nice added track(s). The thing I found about The Sundays, with this song as an example, when listening to a song, I find myself playing air guitar to both guitars. I can't stick with strumming or lead/backing. Anyway, I appreciated this, as another musician/artist. Well done.
I love the major 7 chords on this
I remember going to Lincoln Center libary in NY to find the sheet music for this album! ha!
FAN.....F***ing....TASTIC mate WELL,WELL-done great --stuff ....jus can't believe how well U played that ....once again a big THANK YOU !!!!!!
From MrBazzabee......jus' brilliant !!!!
Great cover bro! I too LOVE The Sundays and The Smiths. The Sundays music has always been like a breath of fresh air!
After my worst days at work I search for fooberdoobs stuff on youtube. Thanks man.
Splendid cover.
PHENOMENAL!!!!
Where's the harm in voicing a doubt
You'll find me in the lavatory
And where's the harm in talking out loud when I'm on my own
What's so wrong with reading my stars
When I'll be in the lavatory
And what is so wrong with counting the cars when I'm all alone
You're not the only one that I know
And I'm too proud to talk to you anyway
You're not the only one that I know
And I'm far too proud to talk to you any day
So I say I'm in love with the world
And what is so wrong with voicing a doubt when I'm on my own
It's perfectly fine to sleep in a chair
From monday 'til saturday
And what is so wrong with talking out loud when I'm all alone
You're not the only one that I know
And I'm too proud to talk to you anyway
You're, you're not the only one that I know
But I'm far too proud to talk to you any day
So they rode out west to the seaside
And they gladly decided to stay
After two hours wandering outside
Ooh the sea air drove them away, yeah
You're not the only one that I know
And I'm too proud to talk to you anyway
You're not the only one that I know
And I'm far too proud to talk to you any day
You're not the only one
But I'm far too proud you're (son)
You're young
But I know, I know, I know, I know
I'm far too proud to talk to you any day
But if you do, don't you know
That I don't mind, no, no, n
what dreamy guitar, wow
Dam dude that sounds good....good job great song
This is honestly so beautiful. Im crying rn. I want to be able to keep playing music like this when im older. Keep it up!
this is my fav cover ever
i was looking for a bit of nostalgia and have been listening to the sundays on youtube. and then there was this video over in the sidebar thingy today. like others said, i had no idea that a guy could sing this (or any other sundays song) so well. so far i like YNTOOIK and S&B the best. nice.
The Sundays..... wow , what a great, unique band and style. All their songs sound amazing with their acoustic guitar sound ! I like that smooth sound.
I am still listening. Thanks
Never get tired of this always come to this video when lin my Sundays listening mood
Excellent job. Very good work.
very good pick, The Svndays! They are big Yes my fave band either
wow, what a brilliant rendition. It's absolutely mesmerizing. great job
I'm so glad you put this out.😎👍
the guitar in the background with the chorus/reverb sounds beautiful too. this is fucking sick!!!!!
beautiful cover
hell yea!!!!! you killed it!!!
whatta voice dude!! You totally rock!! I would made a band with you anytime!
Now I sound like a gruppie!!
But you still rock!
Have this on repeat
Great one Matt. I know the Sundays music well (Harriet went to my local school), and you have preserved the essense, but added slight edges that work well. I hadn't imagined this song with a man's voice, but it's worked superbly. 'I feel' also great too. Oh, and 'skin and bones'. More Sundays please
this is terrific well done
Wow. What a beautiful cover of this incredible song. Amazing voice!! I love The Sundays so much. Thank you for this!!!
beautiful cover this video is so special
i recently discovered this song, and am relatively new to this genre. I have been obsessed with this album and your cover made my day with happy emotions. I'm excited to explore your covers and see what else is to come.
This is beautiful dude

i wanna learn to play guitar just so i could play this song like you
This really is the best cover on CZcams I'm aware of. Even the 2008 audio quality doesn't impact my enjoyment of it at all. Great work man
Great job !
Harriet has one of the most seductive voices around and you managed to create a very alluring sound of your own.
beautiful
Best cover..thank you
man! you REALY did this justice, and made it your own!!!!
Nice, buddy. Good pick- hard to cop Harriet's voice and you did a real nice version
