    In retrospect and all things considered, The Social Contract is as a blueprint for constructing a house of cards that which inevitably must fall by the slightest breeze.

    7:20 res in that sense is actually more like "city", so "res publica" would be the part of the city that is shared with everybody (in contrast with "domus", the private stuff). great class though!

    The issue of people being unable to go into the woods as individuals is the product of a (deliberate) ratchet…. being ‘programmed’ by the rules none of us agreed to couples with illegitimately privatised land
