100% agree Tom. We as a society at one point prioritized price over American jobs and quality. We’ve lost so much industry to overseas competitors that I’m not sure if we’ll ever see a point where American industries will thrive again! Love the small businesses that charge more for a superior product. Buy once, cry once.
Thanks for watching! Agreed
Thanks for a great video. Not only interesting to learn more about the Huntsman, but you sir are the accessory KING! So cool to see what's out there.
Thanks for Watching! Appreciate the support!
Keep it coming i’ve already pre ordered one and the shelves, waiting for it in July hopefully. I absolutely love that it has that easy access door to add charcoal or. wood. Thanks for the vids on this kamado👍
Thanks for Watching! Enjoy!
I would like it if they offer an extension to smoke more meat like a WSM. It’s pretty pricy for a grill with limited cooking space. Overall looks cool
Thanks for Watching!
Love it, just pre-ordered mine. Comments for Spider, would love to see it a few inches taller via longer legs or bigger wheels, or both!
Thanks for Watching Larry! Agreed! Enjoy!
Just found your channel. After a few years with a Rectec, I’m heading back to charcoal. I was set to get the Weber kamado, but I think the Huntsman is it. Great videos. Simple. To the point. No bs.
Thanks for supporting the channel!
Man this looks like a great grill. Extremely overbuilt, made to last, and with the right features. I wish they would ship these to Europe. Hopefully one day!
If any spider grills employees read this, I have two suggestions:
- offer a kit to allow easy installation in an outdoor kitchen. Some thick steel brackets to replace the legs, or something along those lines.
- consider offering a version without the venom, with just a vent. Some people want tech and automation, some people just want a simple grill that they control themselves.
Thanks for watching! Appreciate the feedback
Tom I really appreciate you for your honesty and great reviews. I purchased many accessories only because of your reviews. I also like seeing your reviews first on FB…
Thanks for watching Jerry! Appreciate the feedback
This is the best new grill in a long time.🥰
I agree Eric! Thanks for watching!
Amazing review. I always love your detailed content.
Thanks for watching!
Great video Tom…..I preordered mine yesterday and got the free battery pack using your code….thanks so much!
Thanks for watching Robert! Enjoy!
Great video Tom. Thanks.
Thanks for Watching!
Great looking product. Good video Tom
Thanks for watching! Agreed
“Yeah they’re made in China… just like almost everything else.”
Webber Kettles: “Am I a Joke to you?!?”
Thanks for watching! No
I absolutely love the looks of this grill! I'm in the market for a new grill, I currently have a Weber kettle with the spider venom and not sure if this would be that much different than my weber except for the fact that it's built like a tank.
Thanks for watching Mike! I’m sure whatever choice you make, it will be the right one! Enjoy!
I'm still debating about getting this as I would like to see others doing a low and slow cook. The price of $749.00 sounds good but I, and I think others, would want to use this as a smoker so at the minimum you would have to add $150.00 for the deflector kit. And of course shelves are needed so that's another $150.00 making it over a thousand bucks. It is a-la-carte pricing.
Thanks for watching!
I'm definitely on board with your take on this. Looks like a solid grill, but like most companies they hit you with the high priced accessories. Kind of typical I suppose
@johnnyboyA76 Thanks for watching!
It will be cool to see how it develops in the future
Thanks for watching James! Agreed
Next time you clean it please demonstrate the ash sweep...Isn't it supposed to work like the Weber one? Another great vid. I would so buy this if I did not get the Masterbuilt 800 not that long ago. It looks like it wins best built value grill sold.
Thanks for Watching Joe! Ash sweep works, what I did was easier…
My 22” kettle vent/ash scrapers have bent from pieces of charcoal that sneak through the grate and have frozen up from grease/sauce build up. They’re cheap and easy to replace. This looks to have the same style scraper.
Is that vent controlled by the venom or is it still a manual control? Where’s the air come in and does the grill care where you load your charcoal for indirect cooking?
Thanks again. Waiting for that brisket video to drop. 😋 🥩
The sweep can be used however as I showed in the video it easier to just brush the ash into the bin. The bottom vent is closed when using the venom it controls air flow with the fan. All you do is set the top vent. Thanks again for watching!
Nice coverage of the FAQ's.
Thanks Ted! Lots of fun!
Thanks!
Thanks for Watching And Supporting Jon!
😂 Tom not to bother you but I think I got it for the only fire rotisserie ring for the huntsman
I’ll cut a space the size of the huntsman hinge to fit, the lid is higher than the Rotisserie enough space once done I’ll send the pic or video
Ok, keep me in the loop, Enjoy!
Great info Tom. I'm considering the Huntsman or the Recteq Bullseye Deluxe to add to my arsenal. Yes, two different fuels but as there are limited reviews/feedback on the Huntsman, I'm having trouble deciding. As a 'one grill to do it all' grill, what are your thoughts?
Thanks for watching! They both would do that
Hey Tom. Can you do a Rotisserie cook with the Huntsman? Would love to see how it works.
Thanks for Watching Marc! The rotisserie is not available until later this summer
I am hoping they come out with a 26inch! Otherwise, sticking to the Weber+Venom+firebox combo
Thanks for watching! Appreciate the feedback
Wondering about ash. I have the Weber Kettle with the Venom and whenever I use lump charcoal for a period of time, ash tends to blow on the food. This is particularly true if you do a short cook the night before and do not empty the ash pan (just sweep the grill with the grill sweeper). Charcoal does seem to be better and obviously emptying the ash pan after every cook tends to alleviate the problem (I saw you using a hand broom which is an excellent idea). What is your experience with the Huntsman?
Thanks for watching! The flatter bottom and straight sides leave the majority of the ash away from the sweep unless you are set up in the center. Haven’t noticed any ash being blown around. Good question
I love my Char Grill Auto Kamodo for $159.00. It doesn't have a charcoal door, but i can buy many replacements for the cost! It's lighter and does the same job! Do a comparison! Thanks Tom
I paid $250.00 for my AK, but have not seen a new one for that price in a long time My AK is very efficient, but in less than one year, I had to replace the controller and the ambient temp probe. The wifi/bluetooth is awful when it works. I would never buy another one, especially with the awful customer support.
My Spider Venom on my kettle is awesome. I can control it from anywhere my phone has a cell signal. When there were issues with my Venom on programming, the company responded to me within minutes on a Saturday. Chargriller took 2 weeks just to start a claim.. Also, the Huntsman grate is more than 20% larger than the AK main grate.
My Spider Venom works so well on my kettle, and with my numerous accessories, I cannot justify the Huntsman at this time.
Thanks for watching James! It on the list
@rickcormier9160 Thanks for watching! Appreciate the feedback
Would like to see a video with the huntsman using the firebox.
Thanks for watching! Me too
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ - Keep them coming. Your videos are great and very informative!
. Thanks for the code, as well. I was able to apply it to my order and get a free battery pack. Now waiting for the Huntsman.
Thanks for Watching! Enjoy!
Tom The spider Venom that is shipped out without the Huntsman does stop at 550 for the max. I confirmed this on mine yesterday. Also It didn't have the low 150 setting it was 220 I think. Turning to the left did not work on my venom controller. Spider did say there is more to come soon. Hopefully a update will be possible for a controller I bought less than a month ago.
Thanks for Watching! Ok,,,, the Venom on the Huntsman works fine. What’s the question?
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ Why are the minimum and max temperature settings on the venom Huntsman different then the regular Venom temperature control?
That’s what they were programmed to be, this is more of a question for the Spider Grills people…. I can confirm that they work….
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ my understanding is the probe on the Huntsman can handle hotter temperatures than the one with the regular Venom so that appears to be what was the difference.
Got it, Thanks
Do you think you could cook with wood alone since the grill is carbon steel?
Thanks for watching! Maybe
You should do a huntsman vs bullseye 380x
Thanks for Watching! Good idea….
Great video, I always look forward to the question asked question answered video. I assumed by the price point it was made in China. I couldn’t find any information online. Where did you find the manufacturing information? It’s too bad, I would gladly pay more if it was made in the USA.
Thanks for watching Zach! The box that it came in….
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ that’s a good source. Thanks for the answer. looking forward to your next cook.
You should look into Golden's cast iron Kamado. It's all 100% made in the USA.
I have a Goldens’. I just wanted to upgrade my kettle and if this was US made I would have bought one.
I’m curious about the efficiency of the grill. I get that it’s thick steel, but how much does it take you to heat it up. I have a thick offset that takes a large fire to get it up to temp but once it’s there it’s pretty steady. I assume it’s similar. Based on your comment about the Weber claiming to be a Kamado tells me you’re not a fan or you’ve never tried it. Would love to see the efficiency comparison. I can burn all day and night on not much lump in the Weber Kamado.
Thanks for Watching Bill! I do allot of video featuring Weber products, good and bad. As I mentioned in the review video the Weber equivalent cost much more, it’s not that I don’t like it, I believe this is a better alternative. Thanks again for Watching and commenting
How much did you have to really assemble on this hefty guy? Ie was the bowl/lid already together and all you really had to do with add the venom and the cart? Or was it all individually wrapped in a ton of parts?
It comes in 2 boxes, put legs, wheels and venom on, flip over and attach the lid from the second box. Little less than an hour to assemble. Thanks for watching
Sorry 5 mm is 5 x .03937 which is approximately. .200 and 1/4 inch is .250 so it's less than 1/4 inch thick
Thanks for watching Steve! Appreciate the feedback
The Weber Summit Kamado cost more, but it is made in the USA.
Thanks for Watching Stephen! Sorry to disappoint you but it maybe packaged here but not made here. Wish it was…
Tom I have the only fire rotisserie ring will it work with huntsman to me it looks like it just might fit with the lid up for Clearance ????
Thanks for watching Vincent! I don’t have the Onlyfire rotisserie ring, but I doubt that it will work
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ
I might have cut it to fit around lid hinge that’s the only thing I see but thanks for the reply also I wish spider did a assemble video for huntsman
I thought about making one, but it went together super easy so didn’t bother. The hardest part is aligning the 12 screws that attach the hinge to the base and the lid
No inside around the pit rim close to the hinge I might have use my Dremel or a metal angle grinder cut off saw ?? to grind or cut a space or groove to fit in that area alone when lid is raised it looks like the only fire will contact the hinge that’s what I believe might work I also sent you a pic of my spider-22 pellet I did your your wheel mod and added the Weber ceramic accessorie to make it a pellet Kamado grill
Nice!
I want one to sweden. It's loks grate.
Thanks for Watching!
A lil small for 700
Thanks for Watching!
Would this be considered an “everyday” grill?
Thanks for Watching John! Yes as I’ve shown
Please let me know when you're going to have your next garage sale! 😉
