However I’ve been in the red for a month now. I work hard for my money, so investing is making me a nervous sad wreck. I don’t know if I should sell everything, sit and just wait.

      I recommend you to do some studying regarding investing into stocks which I suppose you have skipped since you're stressing over being in the red for over a month. Investing in the stock market is a long term game, theres gonna be months, maybe even years where you'll be in the red, but in the long run, the stock market has returned about 8-10% a year. Highly recommed a short and simple book called The little book of common sense investing by John Bogle. Good luck :)

    This show does not teach you anything! It’s just a bunch of rich people in the top 5% of America making stupid financial decisions! This show could have been something amazing. The premise was great. But the people they helped didn’t need help. It’s hard to empathize with high income earners and trophy wife’s… they should have used real people with real debt living paycheck to paycheck with no savings… why did they not help a college student with student loans? That would have helped so many people. Why didn’t they show someone who doesn’t come from money and teach them how to invest in the market. What a waste of time.

The man saddled with $250k in student loans but makes $71k a year. One trophy wife does not wipe out the rest of the average folks he is trying to help. If anything, he is trying to show that no matter how much money you make, you can be in debt and not know how to get yourself out.

    The show is great. It was totally shocked and so emotional to see that family members avoid talking about money or bills. They are in danger situation but they feel uncomfortable discussing their financial situation, particularly if they are struggling with debt or facing financial difficultie. And couples may have different attitudes towards money, such as wedding budget some person being more frugal while another may be more willing to spend money. This can lead to disagreements and tension when discussing financial matters.Even the power dynamics at play within the family, where high paid wife have more control over the family finances and be reluctant to share information or discuss financial matters openly.I got to see all the stuff in the show.
    So after the show I asked chatgpt what if family avoid money talk. And it answers as below, it's maybe the reason we need expert to make a show of it. Coach people to confront the bills problem and make a rich life.
    It's important for families to have open and honest conversations about money and bills, as this can help to prevent misunderstandings and conflicts down the line. If you're having trouble talking about these issues with your family, it may be helpful to seek the assistance of a financial planner or counselor who can help facilitate these conversations.

    • @RandomCourtesy
      @RandomCourtesy Před rokem +1

      There is so much more to this. Yes, a home can build equity if used correctly, but just owning a home isn’t a magic bullet. It’s impossible for everyone in the country to own a home, there’s just not enough houses. Renting is totally okay and people shouldn’t be shamed for choosing to or having to. If you watch the show, he says renting is okay and may be the best choice for certain situations. He recommends renting until you have enough for 20% down (don’t actually have to put 20% down, just have it), be willing to live in the house for at least 10 years, and don’t exceed 28% of your gross income on monthly home costs. He also says with renting you know what you pay up front. With owning a home, your mortgage is just the base price you pay. Insurance, HOA, maintenance, renovation, taxes, etc. add to that base monthly payment. Renting is ok and buying a home is ok. It just depends on the person and their situation (which changes throughout life).

The mortgage works out cheaper monthly than the rent! It's a set amount every month for the next 5 years, no more unexpected rent hikes from landlords.
