How to say the DATE in English

- An English lesson on how to say the DATE in English.
We talk about how ordinal numbers are used for the day with a summary chart of the numbers from 1st to 31st (both as numbers and in words).
We then explain how American English and British English are different in the way they order the date Month + Day vs. Day + Month. This includes the problems that can arise when the date is written only as numbers (e.g. What day is this? 3/5/18 ... it depends on the country!)
We quickly look at the months of the year and their common abbreviations.
Next we explain how to say the years in English. This is a summary as we have another video about this topic that contains more exceptions and examples.
We then show the different ways to ask someone for the date... and their likely responses.
Finally the viewer is asked two questions that can be answered in the comments section.

I teach this to my students too, but I always encourage them never to use numbers for the months and always use the day-month-year sequence. If their American colleagues are doing international business, they too need to adapt to international English. Great work. I'll send my students to your channel. Thanks.
And as far as the the British use of the ordinal endings, that too gets dropped in written International English. Basically, I advocate that the ESL learners influence English to be more efficient. If the "experts" who allow the improper connotation of words like "literally" into the dictionary, why can't ESL speakers have an effect on the language to make it more efficient? And in the case of the "st", "nd", "rd", and "th", it's just cleaner looking.
Yes, it does look better without the ordinal ending (st, nd, etc.) and has become more and more accepted.
