    You're really helping Swann sell their CCTV. If you like making these videos then maybe get in touch with their global/local sales and distribution. They might send you kit to review, pay you or let you keep it.

    Hi, I liked your video. A couple of questions. In setup, if one chose 5MP instead of 4K, could the frame rate be increased above 15 FPS? Also, if your run is longer than 20 meters, is it possible to use two cables?

    • @Lakish_Narayan
      @Lakish_Narayan  Před 4 lety

      Hey there,
      Yes both can be done. You are only limited by manufacturers FPS specs for choice and you can put two cables to feather I did not see and reduction in quality when I did this. Use a good quality cable though other wise over the longer distance you might see a reduced quality of image. Hope this helps you 😀

    Hello There. I hope that you are well today, In what different fps can this dvr record at in the maximum 4k resolution i.e 2fps, 4fps, 8fps, 30fps & also what country version is your dvr as it looks like on your tv showing of your 4k cctv camera system the picture looks like it runs at 25fps which i prefer 30fps as to me look 30fps just runs that little bit smoother as 25fps systems have that little jump in the picture which spoils the whole thing about a cctv that to me. & Thank You For Your Answer To My Questions Too. videos.cctvcamerapros.com/c/swann-dvr-camera-compatibility.html going off the FAQ section at the bottom of that page link it says "Analog CCTV cameras and HD-over-Coax security cameras (AHD and HD-TVI) can be wired to Swann DVRs using pre-made BNC camera cable or by custom cutting cable from a spool of RG59 Siamese."

  • @EngineerX
    @EngineerX Před 5 lety +6

    Very good comparison between all the sensor types. One other important factor to keep in mind are the focal length of the lenses used. 2.8mm, 3.6mm, etc Of course there's always a trade off, wider view angle vs. acuity at farther distances. Best scenario would be to use 2 cameras to cover same area, a wide angle 1080p for close targets and a higher res sensor with a longer focal length to cover farther targets. That's double cost of course and not the best approach.... But as you showed, for most people concerned with being able to see license plates at a distance, the 5MP cameras are the best choice.
    Great review and THANK YOU for showing the TOTAL time it takes for Google assistant from voice command to on-screen display of the video stream, from 3:51 to 4:06. Factory videos don't show it, they cut the transition and don't give any idea of the time it takes. It's not quick but that's the tech's limitation right now.

    • @Lakish_Narayan
      @Lakish_Narayan  Před 5 lety +2

      Hello EngineerX,
      Thanks for taking the time to write such a valuable comment! I also found it quite interesting how the 5MP performed at those distances. When i tested out the sensors types, i thought the results would show the 8MP camera to be a clear winner, so i was also quite surprised. I would also agree that the trade-off is very much apparent and clear in this test. It would definitely be a strong factor in determining the placement and meeting the functional demand of any user. I am guessing for professional CCTV installers this point of difference would be taken more seriously and appreciated more than the seasoned DIYer.'
      I also really appreciate that you got something out of google assistant scene! The total time is something i suspect bigger companies will be always wishing to improve, but as it stands, this is probably a sore point for them and thus the reason it isn't shown in the factory videos.
      Glad you enjoyed the video!
      Cheers!

Then you need to press the video button at the bottom and press the channel you want to record (so you are recording the actual playback) which it then saves and you can find in record tab. It is from there you can export videos. Seems quite complicated haha 😂 hope this helps you!

Is is the cables on this be okay for down the track when if I upgrade to 8 camera setup as i was thinking these cables should work with the next set plus I’ll have to add the xtra cables for the xtra cams. @Lakish_Narayan  Před 2 lety +1

      Hello TSM,
      Thanks for your kind words!
      To my knowledge, the 4k Cameras come with a higher quality BNC cable compared to the standard 1080P cameras. The notable difference is the colour of the connectors where the lower quality cables are blue and red and the 4K BNC connectors purple and red. So if your using the higher quality cable shouldn't have a problem with upgrading them down the track and using these cables, for any camera. If you use the blue and red cable, you might find that a higher quality camera (say 4K) will still experience reduced picture quality (down to 1080P), being bottlenecked by the cable =)
      I tried to find a few links so you get what i mean
      1080P cable with Blue: www.ebay.com.au/itm/263328824005

      Yeh the 4K has less FPS i think this is just the limits of the BNC cable. As you push the resolution up there has to be a sacrifice somewhere and FPS is the counterpart. I hope this helps you and I could be wrong but i am pretty that is what it is.

      The 1080p is smoother when playing but if you pause it there is way more detail in the still image on the 5mp and 4k/8mp images. I cannot tell which model the car is when I pause on 1080p.
      When trying to identify a person or vehicle I think the clarity with 5mp or 8mp/4k might help especially for longer distances.

    my dvr model 5680 CANNOT change FPS higher than 8, it does not matter if i chose 4k or 1080p or 720p, i called swann and they say THATS HOW ITS PROGRAMMED, so here im confused, THIS MODEL 5580, YOU CAN CHANGE FPS??? it does works when you change recording resolution? or it works with OTHER cameras that are NOT 4k? im confused...... when you did the fluidity comparison 2:10 are they OTHER cameras you used, or the same 4k cameras but recorded on lower resolution??? if you record in 1080p in 15fps. and it works when playing back on PC, then i will change my dvr 5680 to yours.... please elaborate......

      Hi there!
      Please forgive me if I don't fully understand your question, but basically, the quality of the LIVE view in terms of FPS changes as the resolution quality goes up. This is a limitation of the BNC cables, so the FPS will go down as your resolution goes up, the FPS will go down. It could be the case the 5680 has been designed to work with only the 4K Cameras, so they only included the settings to support the cameras included in that box. To my knowledge, when I did this test, I used the 5580 DVR and attached the other cameras in; the camera was detected as being 5mp or 1080p and different settings did show up on the system hence the reason why you can see the 1080p cameras are much smoother. In hindsight, I should have shared how I performed the test for later reference, so my apologies here!
      Hope this helps you a little bit!

      @@Lakish_Narayan yes, seems there is a problem on 5680. when you LOWER resolution, it LETS YOU CHOOSE higher frame rates, BUT when you copy-save a file on a pen-drive and then play in a computer, the metadata and properties shows than it will STAY on 8 fps even if you choose 4k, 1080p, 720p, THIS MODEL wont go higher than 8fps, and its a firmware error that needs updating......

      Hey there,
      My apologies for the late response!
      I think the easiest way to answer this is to give you an actual noise reading. So i used my phone and got a reading of about 52dB average that link below for a rough idea of where that sits in the noise level chart. For me personally, i have it installed in the cupboard, so when it is day time i don't really hear it at all unless i open the cupboard and do something in that direct area. In the night time, if i walk past it i can hear it quiet humming away.
      Heres that link for your reference boomspeaker.com/noise-level-chart-db-level-chart/
      How noisy the unit will be probably be more relative to the average noise level of the room you put it in. You can get a idea of how noisy it would be by downloading an "decibel reader" app and using your voice to match the 52dB level and then checking your room noise. I really hope this helps you!
      Cheers!

    If you need to place these cameras facing along an outside wall, the wall interferes with the night vision sensors and the wall looks bright and everything else is dark.
    I have made extension brackets to move the cameras out from the wall around ten inches and has made no difference at all.

      @swannsecuritytv Před 5 lety

      Hi Pollyfodder. We’d love to assist you with the issues you reported having with your DVR-4780. We’re giving you some information below which might be helpful for your case, but you can always reach us on 1800 788 210 (Australia) or tech@swann.com.
      The most accurate detection option on our wired systems is to use 2-factor detection (enable “PIR and Motion” within the settings menu). This detection method requires both factors to be true before you will get a recording, therefore the PIR sensor must detect heat AND there must also be motion in the image for it to be considered a true event. You can also combine the video based detection with features such as a motion mask so that you can further define movement to areas that you are interested in such as a path rather than tree branches, as you did on your video 3_LvBnif1nk, just have in mind that that masking applies to pixel movements, that’s not a mask for PIR. In your videos you rightly point out that the red PIR box is showing, however there is no additional ‘running man’ icon to indicate that the camera is also detecting motion, so in this scenario you should not be getting a recording or alert. Your camera is facing a concrete path so we believe this is likely to be radiating a high amount of heat given the hot climate where you live, Townsville. There is always the option to turn off PIR detection if you wanted to, which would revert the camera to solely video-based detection like on Swann’s older systems before we started including PIR heat sensors about two years ago. However you are likely to find that relying on a system with no PIR detection will have a significantly higher number of false triggers compared to using the 2-factor detection. We hope that some of this information may assist in improving the performance of your system. If we can be of further assistance, please let us know.
      Regarding the ghosted images: updating the firmware may solve this issue. Again, if you need any help with this, please reach us on 1800 788 210 (Australia) or tech@swann.com.
