Chris Cassidy is currently ALONE on the US section of the International Space Station. How crazy is that? I really enjoyed speaking with him and Jonny. I started this process thinking the Seals probably focus on the ability to overpower the enemy and smash things, but it turns out humility and the ability to work on a team is by far the most important attribute. You can follow Chris and Jonny on twitter and Instagram (I'll put the links in the description).

Passion transcends professionalism.
Not gonna lie but.. When you get into intelligent territory things around starts becomes less important and selective, I can never see a full grown space war as most people who is educated enough to handle space missions will probably not see anything gain in using bullets against other people.
Space Exploration is probably why War stopped. As Space Missions became a more union goal, despite race, country or anything... space is just as much space around all of us. No borders required : D

Hi.
“So it says here on your resume that you are a... Navy SEAL, Harvard MD, and an Astronaut. So what can you bring to our company?”
Jonny: “literally anything...”
How does one man accomplish three life dreams in one lifetime 🤯
Latham Simpson not only that but to do it before you’re even 37! One lifetime makes it seem like he is done, but his career, specifically in space is just beginning, and that’s the craziest part of it all!
Nah, he doesn't have "real world experience," thats probably what he'd get if he weren't a physician.
“Lucky for you we offer competitive rates! How does 12.50$ an hour sound?”
😂😭😭😩
The SEAL is definitely a path towards Astronaut, the MD also helps because an Astronaut needs to be a scientist and an engineer.
Only the most accomplished people get to even have a go at applying to be an Astronaut.
I know this will probably never be read but I just had to say: This is one of if not your best production so far. As a current military pilot, I want to thank you for your work in the past couple videos going into not only Chris and Jonny’s life but that of all the submariners on your ICEX series.

Dr. Kim: " I work at a swimming pool and occasionally participate in CZcams videos."

Don't belittle yourself, friend.
An achievement is always an achievement, and while getting a truck license might not be as glorious as passing BUD/S, medical school or astronaut training, it is no walk in the park either, and something worth to be proud of as well.
(I should know, because I got my truck license back in the 1990ies in the Austrian military, when The Powers That Be (in their infinite wisdom) decided that being able to drive trucks would be another useful skill for a young and energetic sergeant being trained to become a Special Recce operative.)

His Asian parents still disappointed.
Man, this was so interesting. And I saw in one of the comments that Jonny had done another podcast with Jocko (who I had heard of, but didn't remember anything about). Saw a random comment about how his father abused his family and was ultimately shot by police in his house before Jonny enlisted. And I just finished listening to all 4 and a half hours of that interview.
Wow. I take Jonny at his word when he says he's not the smartest or the strongest person, but he is certainly one of the most impressive. But he has both an intensity and a humility that shine through at all times. I was somewhat demotivated when I realize he's only a little older than me.. but seeing how he has approached overcoming obstacles from abuse to being shot at to medical school, I find it energizing to think that it's all about just setting one achievable goal at a time. Step by step by step.
Even I can do that.
I think his confidence that he can accomplish anything... while still being so incredibly humble "a tadpole with big shoes to fill". That's quite a winning formula. Oh and of course the never ending drive to get it done.
What incredible human beings Chris and Jonny are. I can see why Americans are so proud of their military and their country. Sadly here in the UK we seem to have lost both. What an awesome episode and not at all what I was expecting.

Could you imagine being Jonny Kim's brother? "Why can't you be like your brother?" An elite decorated soldier, combat medic, medical doctor, and astronaut. To surpass him would require someone to cure cancer *and* defeat an alien invasion.

26yo me: Oh G, i shouldn't read it.
Honestly, most people 16 and up should read those types of books. They need to learn history, the good and the bad, no sugar coating, as young as possible and appreciate what has been done for them.
I read that book in the 6thgrade and that's why I joined the US Marine Corps. It's exactly the kind of book young men should read nowadays.
The amount of integrity, energy, commitment and dedication these men have is inconceivable to 98% of the population.
SUPERCAR GALAXY when I told my family I wanted to be a SEAL when I was 10 my grandfather, a Navy vet himself, gave me a couple spec ops books from all branches and said “read these and then decide if that’s still what you want to do”. It took the glamour out of it and put what they do into perspective. It didn’t change my mind but in-fact fueled me. However, shortly after I enlisted I was told I was partially color blind and I couldn’t do anything other than rescue swimmer in the spec ops community and since I didn’t have ANY other plans for my life I went ahead and went in as a seabee.

“OH THAT’S COOL!” “This is amazing!” This looks like one of the coolest things ever!” I love your passion, thanks for doing what you do.
What a priviledge to watch this. Thanks Destin, for the best couple of channels on youtube!
I like Chris a lot. He’s smart and humble. Thanks for sharing this with us and reminding us that service to others makes us better humans. 🤗❤️🌎🌍🌏
Hes a spy for the ccp
@CL CL I wasn’t talking just about military service in my comment, although that is service to all of us that benefit from the freedoms we enjoy as a result (I’m talking in the U.S. here). I am also talking about any type of service to others - volunteering at a homeless shelter or food bank, teachers who help our child learn, helping out neighbors after a storm. Those are also example of service to others.
@@anthonyh2540 lol, check your facts man, he's of korea descent ^^ but you're here posting this same comment multiple times haha. great job
Oskar Delitz lmfaoo yea im trolin hard
Navy seal astronauts? This multi classing is getting serious.
Wait... does that make this guy an early ODST? What a legend.
It wasn't enough for Kim. He had to add MD.
MrBeatboxmasta from Harvard
Halo reference love it.
Oooh you gave me some feels with that comment
@Christian Bai Talk to SpaceX they have the rapid descent/rocket landing down pat.
These people just BLOW MY MIND... Stunning experiences as far as the eye can see... Unbelievable talents... amazing minds.. I can't stop SALUTING THEM!!!
wow ! so amazing to see how humble they are as proffesional leaders to the cause. this will stick in my head and make me smarter every day. thanks for bringing me along.happy 2021
I hate see astronauts fighting each other in netflix. THIS is the reality. This video show how smart people can make things better.
Yeah it’s sad but Hollywood makes schlock for the drooling masses to keep making more money
Idiots fight under stress. That's why they weed them out in astronaut and special forces selection.
12:38 "Stop and smell the roses." Everyone should stop, take a breath and appreciate their life from time to time because no matter how bad you would have it, if you're alive and healthy everything is good.
I love this
@@uv-al yep, but you're still alive. It's all we've got
Being alive, and having consciousness is pure luck; Appreciate it while you can. Have fun; Live life.
@@uv-al To live is to suffer; Get over it as horrible as that may sounds it's just how things are. The sooner people wake up and realize those roses can hurt you the better.
i hate potatoes
I agree with you, its not so simple, its never ‘just be happy.’ Good to see someone else is on the same page
He makes a great point about problem solvers. It’s one thing to have the strength to do 1000 push-ups, it’s another to know how to solve one problem and be able to adapt that solution to a different problem which not everyone can do and do well.
This guy is the most elite human being. U can see in his eyes he sees the world differently...
This guy is a full on Nerd and I for one totally love it.
A nerd that could tie you into a pretzel

"Service to others is Sustainable Way of Living" --- thats hit me...
Your best episode PERIOD! I am truly humbled.
Thanks so much for what you do to bring these amazing people to light, this was truly an incredible and enlightning video. Thanks for all you do in life, may you have a long and blessed one mate.
Destin just like Thor, has no regard for lawn maintenance.
Like when he cut straight across the grass? Bahaha that bugged me to for some reason
I think he got very excited when he saw that delivery vehicle.😂
@@Brielshallouf True. I felt the same thing. I thought "he is in a military facility and he dares to step on the grass to shortcut..."
But I think we can forgive him because he was just like a big kid that saw something he likes and went straight to it
it's grass
But he did all that research in to which grass clipper wire is optimal!
Just when I thought the job title couldn’t be any cooler....
this guy has been on a active duty nuclear submarine
Really nice work Destin. Once again I just want to say a big thank you to the Navy Seals and all the great folks in the military and all the people involved with space exploration, the space station, ground crew etc. Along with extreme engineering, I enjoy watching this type of stuff.
One of your best episodes, Dustin! Thank you!
Dr. Kim. Every mother's poster child. Meanwhile I haven't left my room the whole day spent watching CZcams videos.
