Until you mentioned Remy’s owners I thought he was yours, because you are so sweet with him! He is such a beautiful dog and so well behaved! What a fantastic groomer you are! That is the kind of bond a groomer should have with his dogs. I plan to keep my Shih Tzu in long coat, I will brush him once or twice daily. I plan to do all grooming as well. It was great seeing this. Most Shih Tzu videos are in short coats. Thank you!

The first video I see on maintaining long hair Shihtzu. Every groomer I've contacted either just wants to clip or shear them. They say it takes too much time and (or) effort.

Thanks so much! I have 3 Shih Tzu's and all 3 have different texture hair. My female has wavy(ish) hair that gets matted if I don't brush her really well every few days. My male had a gorgeous topknot until my 5 month old decided it was a toy. hmmm my question is what can I do with the shorter broken off hairs while waiting for it to grow back out? I love how you speak to Remi. Anyone can see he trusts you.

I would like to let it grow all the way out. I’m just not sure what to do when they stick straight out and its hard for him to see. I end up just taking him to get groomed. 😂
I was also told by a vet to keep it short because it could cut his eyes?!! That’s also a reason I haven’t.

I wanted to grow out my shih tzu hair long to grow out her super unevenly cut facial hair (first groomer gave me a bad experience so now I do it all myself) and I want to know how to grow out her facial hair especially the moustache hair I always have to put 2 mini Claire’s hair clips and 2 pigtails in my dogs hair to keep it from getting in her eyes it’s quite a challenge to do this daily sometimes multiple times hoping that there’s a better option. I want to grow it out so I don’t have to trim it all the time. Especially the eye hair.
Also a shih tzus knots never end. Another crazy knot right next to the skin always pops up. I brush her every single day 😭.

Wow what a great video. I have a 10 month old male Shih Tzu I’m keeping him in a longer coat. My question is his hair almost looks like it’s crimped when I part and out to the sides. He is about the length of Remy hair. What do you recommend to train . His hair to fall down the sides and I have heard of people flat ironing it to take out some of the crimp. If so what product would you use to protect the hair and what setting for the iron
You can do what's called Sacking, which is placing a very,very lightly dampened towel over the parted fully finished combed out coat,for about 5 to 10 minutes, and it will flatten the coat,and rid all of the static..Thank you for your kind comment and for watching us

I had to cut my shih tzus hair off because she had a flea problem but it hasn’t grown back since then. She used to have a lot of hair that grew very quickly the fleas are rid of and she’s healthy but do you have any tips of how to get it to grow longer faster?

Lol miskraft,Thank You so much for subscribing.The brush in the vid,is called a Franks Universal Slicker brush..Amazon has them.They do need a little breaking in when they are new,but the bristles soften up as you use it..Thanks again for watching.
Oh i forgot to tell u,its a Large..they come in two sizes..The large doesn't tug as hard,because its not as curved as the small..

what type of slicker and combs do you use? What is your favorite Shampoo and Conditioner and a detangler as well? I am using Chris Christensen products right now. Is there something you like better? When you get the chance. Letting my girl go long. What do you use to keep the face clean and from staining? I have heard of so many products but I want to use something safe. When you get the chance. That dog's diet must be very good - no staining on the white part of the muzzle at all.
They get brushed out every day! Long or short, it’s a daily thing. It barely takes five minutes . .

They are very good products..Be sure to get the right tools..Slicker brush, double edged steel comb,a good shampoo, and conditioner..
So many slicker brushes. I have too many products. I'm confused. Her coat is long but wavy and Dr. Just Devine from CD daily brushing.. Jon Peters Oatmeal conditioner spray.. I want to try Preium Sue from pishpad. I will invest the money if it's worried. Ashley Craig Greyhound combs .. I spoke to her on phone but her cleansers are concentrates.

This is an old comment but let me add this. I have a whitish Shih Tzu. We're temporarily in a place that has very poor water quality. I started giving him bottled and filtered water. The tear stains went away.

Care Bear...No..This is a modified pet grooming..A show grooming would leave the coat even longer,and there would be no trimming under the eyes,but in this video,it is a way to get that show look,and still do a maintenance grooming as well..Thank You for watching..

You said brush him out twice a week, I brush my Moses twice a day and he still gets little knots.
No staining on the white of his face or his feet at all. They must give him bottled water and whatever he's eating is just right.
